I gave this tea a few tries and I just couldn't get into it. It is way too strong on the smokey flavor. In all honesty, it tasted like burnt hay.
I had several of my friends try the tea and no one was having it.
Classic steamed green tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Crisp and clean cup, notes of freshly steamed edamame. Refreshing, sweet, and much more delicate than most Senchas. If you're new to Sencha (and the vibrant teas of Japan in general), this would be a great place to start.

This tea, in my opinion, is a lot like Kukicha. However, kukicha seems to have a stronger grassy and earthy taste that sencha. If you like kukicha, but not very grassy green teas, then sencha should be perfect for you.
A very tasty, delicate sencha tea. I prefer gyokuro, but I highly recommend this sencha premier.
Premier was pretty good, I thought it would be better then the Overture but I like the Overture much better. Also, Premier is pretty pricy.
Great color, but really finicky about temperature -- if I overheat it, it turns quite bitter.
The tea tasted very grassy and looked very dusty (using the glass mug and infuser).
Hands down my favorite of Adagio's high-end green teas. It is complex in flavor, and I taste notes of vanilla and caramel on the finish. It's not cheap, but it sure is tasty!
If you have a commitment to brewing a good cup of tea and all that entails (like taking the temperature of your water, warming your cup), you'll find a complex mixture of vegital and subtle sweetness. Just do yourself a favor: brew more tea to a cup than you normally would, drop your water's temperature and only brew for two minutes (2:30 on your second infusion).
This has a wonderful grassy/vegetal flavor. Were it not for the price, I would drink this every cuptime. Its flavor and aroma is strongly reminiscent of gyokuro. The leaves of sencha, however, don't seem to crumble as much as gyokuro. Steep time is comparable to that of gyokuro. All in all, a wonderful tea.
This is a wonderful tea. My second favorite green next to gyokuro.
Probably one of the best green teas I've ever had.
This is one of the better Japanese-style teas I've had. I will definitely keep drinking this one.
i love sencha, and i want to say that this is a great tea, but i cannot seem to get the amount and time and temperature just right (which i can do with other senchas). even when it's not bitter, the flavor isn't as pronounced as i'd like.
A wonderful sencha. As with most Japanese greens, it's difficult to brew correctly.
If you like a grassy tea, this is the king of green teas. Strong, pure, and not a tad bitter. Brew a little shorter than suggested for a prime cup.
This is one of my favorite greens! I love the fresh-mown grass smell and the yellow gold color. One note: I brew it for only a minute as it is very easy to over brew this tea and make it bitter and too vegetably. It's on the expensive side so I alternate it with cheaper selections (gunpowder) but it and dragonwell are my favorites.
sencha premier is a nice subtle tea, i drink it daily and on all ocasions.
I didn't care for this tea. Tasted and smelled liked grass. However, I gave it to a friend to try and she liked it with honey. This one I would not get again.
Didn't love this. A little too grassy tasting for me.
This tea is very delicate. if you over steep or your temp is too hot, it gives a really bad taste. Once you find the sweet spot, it's great.
I actually liked the overture better. I fiddled with the prep on this quite a bit and it never came out tasting all that spectacular to me. The overture seems like a better deal.
A great basic every-day sencha, not bitter, very smooth, good balance between sweet and vegetal.
This one is OK, I like others a little more, but still it's great.
Of course an acquired taste, but if you've tasted the real thing, then this is worth every penny. Wonderful stuff and couldn't ask for more!
A very 'green' tea, almost an asparagus-y taste (which I love), smooth and not bitter. I thought it tasted very similar to gykuro, although gyokuro had an even more pronounced 'green' flavor. If you enjoy a truly 'green'-tasting green tea, you will love this.
Good, but I feel this is a little bitter. Not as smooth as some of the other green teas.
Almost floral taste. Very pleasant. Second and third steep as good as the first one.
I didn't enjoy this at all. I ordered a sample tin, and tried brewing it various temps and times. I don't find the strong grass taste pleasing at all. If you are into that kind of green tea, you will love this tea.
This tea is a very refreshing experience. It's quite grassy but if brewed properly, I think you can better savor the flavors that this tea truly carries. Would recommend to others.
Good tea but very tricky to brew. When brewed correctly, though, very delicious green tea.
I just didn't care for this tea. It is way to grassy for me.
i have friends who really love this style of japanese green (and raved about the quality of the adagio tin that i gave to him) , but i prefer the chinese.
I've tried many other green teas and I find this one very good.
A good everyday sencha. Has no bitterness and low astringency when brewed properly.
if you like the taste of grass clippings (like I do), you'll love this tea. seriously though, it's delicate and tasty.
I really love this tea. It has probably become one of my favorite greens.
This was a very good sencha. It was neither too vegetal or too grassy tasting.
do NOT go the full 3 minutes, or it won't taste right. otherwise, delicious and vegetal when made properly
This tea is awesome no bitterness and great aftertaste.
Wonderful tea, but you must be carefull on the brew time and temp. Too hot or too long and it becomes bitter. Do it right and it's has a very pleasant smooth rye like flavor. I brew it at 175 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes.
Was a big fan of this tea. I like the teas like apricot and citron. If you like the earthy teas, try this one.
GOOD, BUT A TOUCH OF BITTERNESS, BE CAREFUL WHEN STEEPING
After loving the sencha overture, I tried this tea. It has a wonderful sencha flavor, but a steap price.
This is one very solid sencha. While not the best that I have had, it is far from the worst. The most appealing part of this tea is the delicate scent that it has. The downside is that its price makes it a bit steep for a daily tea. It is worth a try and if it is your cup of tea for your perfect tea, personally for me my quest continues.
Very similar to gyokuro, and my experience was nearly identical. If one were to boil spinach and then poach fish in the broth, this is what the leftover liquid would taste like. However, when infused at 140 degF for 2 minutes, it was much nicer. The grassiness was more pronounced and the fishiness more subdued. I'll go back to it and see what happens.
A tasty green, with a pretty strong flavor that somehow reminds me of cut grass.
Great green flavour tea, meant to be a 'grassy' taste. If given time to accustom to the taste, is well worth the price. Even if you are a beginner to green teas, do not let this type shy you away.
Good, but not as delicious as Gyo kuro, my favorite green tea.
Way to spinachy for me, I guess japanese greens are just not my cup of tea.
very light & tasty, I like it a lot better than the other sencha.
