I’m a huge genmaicha fan. The toasty flavor is great after dinner. This matcha blend is great!!
The toastiness of our sencha and roasted rice genmaicha with our gently grassy, Uji-grown matcha make for a rich and complex vibrant green cup.

I’m a huge genmaicha fan. The toasty flavor is great after dinner. This matcha blend is great!!
Roasty toasty deliciousness! There is a deep savory, brothy rich flavor. A very enjoyable cup to have with dinner or by itself. The combination of these two teas was brilliant! A bright, crisp, and fresh tasting combo!
Just not my cup of tea. I don't really care for green/grasssy teas. This is not a flavor profile that I personally enjoy. The tea appears top quality, so it's just personal preference.
I think this just became my favorite green tea! Smooth flavor with a light nutty undertone that's not earthy. Steeps well multiple times.
This is similar to Adagio’s original genmai cha but even better! It has that same toasty popcorn flavor but with an even stronger aroma which I absolutely love! This does not have the strong grassy or vegetal flavor that some green teas and matchas have, so I would still recommend it even if you don’t like matcha or other green teas. This one is all about the toastiness!
The savory-ness of this wonderful tea makes it almost like a meal. Drinking it = drinking broth ;-)
Matcha Genmaicha is a personal favorite, and Adagio's is no exception. Have enough to hopefully last me a long time, because it is a staple in my life. Will definitely be buying again when I'm low.
Yes!! Just try it, steep it cold, steep it warm. I find that mixing this after steeping with a little bit of cacao powder is delicious.
If you can get by the smell when you open the pack, yuk, once you brew and add a little honey not super bad. Definitely not a favorite.
Ever since tasting a Genmaicha/Matcha mix at a Chinese restaurant in Washington D.C., it has been in a tie for my favorite tea, along with a tea that's not available at Adagio. Adagio's blend is wonderful! I ordered more, then found a bag I hadn't opened yet! 😂 It's okay, it just means I have enough to share.
Adding the matcha to this one really perfected it. I liked the Genmaicha ok, as long as it was toasted rice heavy, but it wasn’t a favorite. I’ve grown to love matcha and wanted to try this one. I didn’t have the month of CommuniTEA when it came up so I ordered a sample pouch. I’m glad I did as it gives me better control over the balance in my scoop of tea. I tried it plain at first, which was good, but then I added a tsp of the whipped matcha honey. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one, much more than I had expected to. I drank it hot today, but I bet this would make a good latte too.
Very yummy tea. I put some vanilla syrup in it and it tasted better than a matcha latte from the fast food place, and 0 calories!
This is one of my favorite green teas ever! It is savory and has a nice toasty rice flavor. It’s become an everyday tea for me.
Very yummy. Me and my friend love this tea. They are not a fan of matcha but they really love this flavor
I originally thought it would have more matcha but it was less than expected which is fine. A light sweetness that you'd expect from genmaicha with a dry finish. Delicious green tea
One of my favorites. I love to drink these tea separately. The blend is incredible. The flavors come through lovely. One tea does not overpower the other. Beautiful.
My absolutely favorite green tea, not too sharp or grassy with nice roasted nutty notes with each sip. I drink this every morning!
I really don’t like matcha, even though I desperately wish that I did, but I do loooooove genmaicha so I thought this would be good and was correct!
If you like Genmaicha, you will really appreciate this blend. A very refined, but still slightly nutty flavor, a perfect cup! I also like it with milk.
Loved it, great flavor taste and good value quality
Flavor was great the smell when growing was different
The toasted rice tea I was looking for! Be careful to brew this one at the recommended temperature as the tea itself is delicate. Wonderful full-bodied flavors blend so well together. I’m a matcha fan, and my cup was a little dusty at the bottom, and I loved the subdued punch of matcha, which was well balanced by the mellowness of the green tea. But it was the toasty flavor of the rice came through in a big way. Such a great blend, I see a reorder in the future.
I purchased this tea because I love genmaicha and haven't quite gotten onto the matcha bandwagon. Unfortunately, the matcha and the genmaicha flavors are muted no matter how long I steep the tea.
It has a thick texture, gently grassy, nutty, and starchy. You can accidentally overbrew and it's still amazing. Soothes upset stomachs and very easy to drink
So delightful! I love the oaky-ness of this blend. My husband is a scotch drinker, and he said that this reminded him of some nice earthy peaty-ness. Delicious!
Hard to find Genmaicha extra green. This is phenomenal. Taste great. Good price.
This is my newest favorite tea! It has a nice roasted flavor and smells like popcorn. (it doesn't really taste like popcorn though) It leaves me feeling calm, focused, and ready to take on the day. It re-steeps well.
Great tea for the price (in accordance with its history, right?) The second steep goes well. I like the combo of green tea and rice/popcorn flavor.
It's just tremendous. It's nutty, toasty, warming... It doesn't even feel like a cup of tea, it feels like an inexplicable, warming elixir. It leaves such a comforting feeling after you drink it. Let not the rice to tea ratio fool you-- it is essential to brewing the perfect cup of genmatcha. It will give you quality hot tea, it will give you quality cold tea. If you're a fan of Japanese teas, this is something you need to have for your pantry.
Now, because this tea is so heavily reliant on the aromatics, I should point something out. I do have a member of the household (not myself) who did go through a strong strain of covid and certain foods smell and taste rotten to her. She can't eat a lot of things she used to enjoy, not even most breads. She cannot drink this tea. I would not recommend this to someone who suffers the same symptoms, OR I would recommend getting a sample before committing to larger portions if you really want to try it. Please keep in mind that this part of my review is relevant to people who have had their taste and smell altered in a medical and chemical sense... Not for fussy drinkers.
This matcha is so good and smooth. The roasted rice really compliments the matcha. I love it plain without sugar.
this was so good, sweet and nutty, but it was light and it made me want to savor it with each sip as i was relaxing. i bought some genmaicha elsewhere but i might come back for more of this...
If you're ever wanted to drink a cup of warm popcorn, with a bit more earthiness from the matcha, this is for you. Not sure what I actually brew it at but please ignore the temps below.
What a pleasant green tea to enjoy in the afternoon. I love the toasted rice flavor that lays over the vegetal taste of the tea. I added nothing.
A delicate, toasty green tea. An easy drinker. I'm surprised I enjoyed this so much. Very different from the bold blends I usually drink. I wasn't able to taste the matcha until the last sips where the little bits powder had sunk to.
I think I like this better by itself, without my usual honey addition, as it toned down the toastiness a bit. Drinking this brings peaceful, meditative vibes and instantly calms me. Bravo Adagio.
This is the Chinese restaurant tea that I have been looking for for years it’s so good 10 out of 10
Absolutely delicious. I use the tiniest bit of sugar with this tea, and it's perfect. It's a fresh and clean kind of green tea with a bit of depth from the toasted rice. Unique and delicious.
This tea has high quality matcha and rich toasted rice making for a well rounded kettle of tea.
Adding a strong grassy element to the nuttiness of genmaicha, this tea is just not for me. I like grass notes in tea, but it was not until I sipped the matcha genmaicha how much I appreciated how genmaicha deviated from the tastes of normal tea. Basically, I like the nuttiness of genmaicha and don't feel the need to add anything to it. I've never had matcha on its own, so can't readily evaluate it in this context.
Different strokes for different folks: this is a quality tea that simply is not for me.
This is by far my favorite green tea. The earthy matcha blends beautifully with the toasted genmaicha for a very soothing cup. Definitely worth a purchase to warm you right up!
I originally got to sample this thanks to a friend and have loved this tea long before purchasing it. It's a fantastic green tea for those new to tea and avid enjoyers. It's rather forgiving when over steeped and doesn't get too bitter when sat for too long, and the rice gives a delicious slight nutty taste.
A savory and nutty very delicious cup of tea! One of the best combo green teas I have ever tasted. So, simple... but brilliance to the tastebuds. I was tired of trying to get a portion of this tea, from the CommuniTEA : tea cards, I just bought the sample. (Instead of playing cat and mouse of tea cards) Lol @adagioteas
I like it but the rice flavor overpowered the matcha flavor.
I didn't know what to expect with this! It smelled very grassy and kinda fishy when I opened it up, but when I brewed it, it tasted like nuts and roasted rice. It was an amazing difference. It reminds me a bit of the tea I had in South Korea. I think I would prefer a bit more complexity from the green tea flavors themselves, but if anyone likes nutty, roasted rice flavors, this is the tea!
My first time trying Matcha. Liked it and will order again.
This is a great tea, I love the matcha addition, however it makes it not great for repeated steeping.
Really enjoy Adagio's version of a matcha genmaicha. I get nice and toasted rice as well as plenty of green tea taste. A nice tea to sit with
This tea is a solid genmaicha but to me the matcha doesn't really come through. I don't hate this tea I was just disappointed the matcha doesn't shine through more in the overall flavor.
I've always loved genmaicha, and its pairing with this matcha is sublime. I've had it both hot and iced, and five stars to both! The rich nuttiness of the rice comes through with the sweet notes of the tea, and it all ends in a slightly bitter, grassy aroma. Love love love it.
This is a fantastic 'plain' green tea; it's my new favorite to drink when I'm in the mood for a non-flavored green tea. It combines the nutty-smooth flavors from genmaicha I enjoy with just a touch of matcha to increase the green and provide just a touch more caffeine. I also drink green tea for headaches, and this works well.
Pleasant, toasty flavor that was almost soothing. I liked that it wasn't overly matcha forward. Good tea to drink if you want to travel via your taste buds.
