I’m happy to have had the opportunity to try this green tea in the CT today. I love the tightly rolled snails of tea that unfurl in the water. It has a very strong flavor that is surprisingly astringent and a little pungent but it is still a very good green tea. I steeped at 180 degrees for 3 minutes and added nothing to the 2 full-flavored cups of tea.

A nice, grassy green tea that can be steeped multiple times!

Very good. Hard to describe but I like it. Nice light sweet flavor

Not bad! I brewed this tea on the light side to avoid any bitter taste.

Vegetal and kind of hay-like or grassy, this was not unpleasant. I preferred this without any sweetener, and it did go well with rice, homestyle beancurd, and some dumplings. Not a green tea fanatic, but this was alright. Kind of crisp and refreshing; the color was a very pale yellow. I'm sure somebody who likes green more than me would enjoy this.

I have to admit that this is not one of my favorite flavor profiles, but my daughter loved it. Not as vegetal as some greens, with a light toasty touch. I enjoyed watching the leaves dance as the unfurled while steeping. 180° for 2 minutes.

I tend to favor flavored green teas, but this blend was a nice change of pace for me. I did add some honey to sweeten it up. It's not going to become a regularly stocked item in my pantry, but if I got a trading card, I would redeem it again. Sometimes it's good to switch things up.

The best part of the tea is watching the little leaf balls turn into big ole leaves of tea. Otherwise, it is clear that I can drink ANY tea with a tbsp of sugar and a tbsp of honey

As you know, I am easily amused. So, any tea that unfurls while steeping is always a winner with me. This tea has a complex flavor profile - a little mineral, a little grape, a little grass, a little floral with a pleasant amount of astringency. Yum!

It's not terrible. I brewed for 3 minutes and still found this tea lacking in flavor. It seems like it wants to have that classic vegetal taste, but it isn't quite packing the amount of flavor that I was hoping for.
The longer I let it cool, the more I found some sort of milky or buttery note on the back end which was somewhat pleasant.
I originally wanted to try two steeps. However, I didn't even finish the first brew because I honestly forgot it was even there and started sipping water instead.
All in all, the flavor is tolerable but not very memorable. I definitely prefer a nice sencha over this.

I'm not a huge green tea fan. I just prefer the stronger taste of black, oolong or pu'erh teas, and I don't enjoy teas that have a vegetal taste. But there are a few I like...and Jade Snail is one of them. I especially like this tea blended with Jasmine Phoenix Pearls. Yum!

I'm so glad I tried this instead of thinking 'i don't love green tea' and skipping it. This is delicious. Dn't do longer than 2 min. There's something kind of juicy and faintly citrus in there. smell is faintly earthy not grassy and really pleasant.

I love green tea, but this one falls short for me. It was a bit too seaweed-ish for my taste buds. I found it to be heavy, like wet grass . Nope, won't purchase this one.

Another surprising green tea with a lot of flavor. I pick up on the boldness similar to the dryness of a wine, but also the roundness where the flavor coats the whole mouth. As it cooled, I understood the white grape. Glad I tried it.

Although I enjoyed watching the leaves open, the taste was nowhere near as nice. I found it to be extremely bitter with a nasty aftertaste. Not for me!

A smooth light green tea with a hint of cream at the end. The most fun thing about this blend was the violin shaped loose leaf.

It’s difficult for me to compare green teas. Jade snails are new to me, and it reminds me of sleeping dragon. A very approachable green tea, not too vegetal at all. It has a kind of brightness/clearness that I’m finding to be very enjoyable.

Communitea Review: I agree with the other reviewer who said a smooth, buttery mouth feel. I don’t think it tastes grassy compared to others-just rich and mellow. Would drink again.

The leaves are interesting to watch as they unfurl. The grassiness of this green tea is mild and very smooth to drink. This is a great tea to re steep. I've only tried this hot, but others rave about icing it too.

UPDATED from 11/13/20: Upon opening the CommuniTEA packet there seems to be an earthy smell, like mushrooms (I love mushrooms, as I may be part Hobbit). How adorable are these cute curls of tea! Like so many others, I take time to watch them unfurl in the hot water then lounge gracefully in the infuser. The golden tea still smells earthy, but there is something of the sea about it - fresh, wet, and green. The flavor is of sweet grass. There is a slight astringency, that is a hallmark of green teas, that dissipates quickly leaving a crisp, clean finish. Good to sip while sitting down to relish this lovely tea, however, it is delightful to drink when on the go, too. ( 3 mins @ 180º F).

In the bag: Matches the Adagio photo. One of my snails seems to have broken up into tiny pieces during transit.

On the nose (pre-steep): Soft grass, not as intense as most greens. Slightly musty. Mild.

On the nose (post-steep): Light notes of soft grass with an accent of peach. Mild.

On the tongue: Flavors match the post-steep scent. No bitterness. Buttery mouthfeel.

Opinion: A surprisingly pleasant tea. I normally don't care for naked greens, but here the grass notes are soft and balanced by secondary flavors.

Preparation: First steep 2 min, second steep 4 min. Both @ 175 ℉. No sweetener.

It's a nice, clean green tea that has more of the hay aroma/flavour vs. grass. I'll never be a fan of green teas, so it wouldn't be something I'd reach for again, but I don't mind it. Steeped 2 min @ 180º.

I'm sure that Jade Snail offers a fine green tea for lovers of the variety, but my relationship with green tea is iffy at best. Yes, I can detect some nuttiness and some light sweetness, but the overall flavor profile of sweet greens doesn't sit well with my palate. I suspect this would stand up to multiple infusions well as it is both green and rolled - both of which usually take well to several steepings - but I am disinclined to make the attempt with my CommuniTEA portion. If I want sweet greens, I'll drink a green smoothie. (<2 min. @ 175F)

Besides being fun to watch brew, this tea gave off a deliciously pleasant aroma while brewing. Very similar to Dragonwell, which I love for its flavor and aroma. I think its the umami flavor that gives it the savory like essence. Although this tea didn't surpass my love for Dragonwell, it was still delicious. I would say it's similar to Dragonwell or Kukicha but a more mellowed out version. A very enjoyable, smooth and light tea with no grassiness.

At the start, this tea brings a tip-of-the-tongue taste of grass and smoke, but this transitions to a full, smooth, and satisfying mouthfeel with a lingering white grape taste at the finish. It has a slight, tingly minerality on the first brew and is not too grassy overall. I find the first brew softer and more complex than Sleeping Dragon and less grassy or smokey than most other Adagio green teas. It reminds me of Wenshan Mist, with less fruity fragrance on the first brew. A second brew is smooth and a little more vegetal, with more mineral notes at the beginning and a more fruity, almost floral finish. It is a bit creamier when it cools and retains the lingering, full mouthfeel. At the third brew and beyond, it is more mineral and smooth, and brings out some floral fragrance. The aftertaste continues to carry beyond the sip, but is increasingly weaker. Overall, I would say this tea is the next best experience after Wenshan Mist, and would be good for days when you want just a couple great brews in a glass teapot for about half the price of the finer tea. I'm not sure how this would do with harder water or hotter brews, but it was just fantastic at 180F in quality spring water. Even my husband, who has a less discerning palate, thought this was fantastic.

10 oz, 2.5 mins @ 180* F, divided, both with added sweetener

Hot
It is quite strong in the umami flavor, but it isn't a 'bad' umami. Tastes like toasted Nori. I enjoy that flavor and would enjoy this with sushi.

Cold
I'm not sure which way I prefer, they are both good and would go well with a Japanese meal.

This is a very solid cup of tea if you enjoy a grassy green tea with a dry finish (I do). Some of the reviewers were getting a flavor of hops, which I sadly didn't notice, but I only had a small sample.

What an amazingly complex tea. The first steep had the mild grassiness of a green tea, some earthy notes, and a prominent white grape or muscat taste on the finish. The second steep was more flavorful than I expected and the grape notes come out more strongly. Definitely a new favorite

I am very excited about this mild and earthy green tea. I catch the smokey flavor but did not notice any hoppiness or white grape finish. At any rate, this tea is good for cozy mornings and I want to experience with the steeping temperature to see how the flavors may change.

Grass and grape notes in the aroma. The tea's description is pretty dead-on; this green really does taste like a lightly hopped sauvignon blanc. Finish is crisp and very dry.

There's always something a little magical about watching curled up leaves unfurl as the tea brews. I've brewed this a few times both at 2 mins and 3 mins, so I actually prefer brewing it at 2 mins 30 secs, a sweet spot in between.

Jade Snail starts off on a grassy note that slides into mild nutty flavors with a hint of smoke. It's a very full body green that ends with an astringent note. I would not necessarily call it delicate, but it is bold.

I would give this a 3.5 stars if I could. It is becoming a classic tea for me to have in my collection. And for the price, it stands on its own. warm notes of freshly steamed greens, unfurling with lingering notes. This tea is a good standby.

I brewed my Jade Snail iced with some burdock and green tea honey. When purchasing this tea, I did not quite comprehend the description, but now that I've tasted the tea, I understand. It does taste kind of like wine. It has that bite like alcohol and has a whiff of grape to it (despite not actually having grapes in it). Unfortunately, I do not like wine and I do not drink wine at all, ever, so for reasons of personal taste I would have to say I do not like this tea. I would only recommend this tea if you enjoy wine or other alcoholic flavors.

I brewed this in both western and traditional gongfu style using about 7g of tea in both cases. Both created lovely green tea infusions but with strikingly different flavors. My notes are:
- Western Style: 175 2 min: Full rich tea, notes of walnut and barley with asparagus and wilted spinach. Pleasantly long finish. Possibility of second steeping but might result in a thin brew.
- Gongfu style: 190 15 sec: reminds me of sushi flavor wise, a bit of rice a bit of fish and seaweed but both faint and pleasant. Thinner liquor but not disappointingly so. Grassy hind notes with a hint at nuttiness. Could withstand two possibly three more steeps without negative effect.

Confession: I don't think I have EVER tasted any style of beer on its own. I have eaten food with beer as an ingredient. I do NOT like the smell of beer (akin to sweat &/or B.O. IMO) so there's no way I'd want to drink it. So, when I'm trying a new tea and people reference its 'hops-like crispness' I have NO idea what they are talking about. LOL

I like the smell of Jade Snail when it's dry in the package. After steeping, I think the liquid smells a little seaweed-y but it's fairly mellow to the taste. The scent makes it seem exotic, like travel to foreign countries. I'm not adverse to a vacation in a cup! :)

Side note: This reminds me of another green tea I've tasted, but I can't put my finger on it right this minute. I may have to resample my collection to satisfy my curiosity! ;)
