It is a little grassy, it is a little malty, it is more than a little nutty. For the mid-price point, this is incredibly sophisticated tea. @adagioteas
The tightly rolled fuzzy buds unfurl to deliver intricate notes of roasted nuts, soft smokiness, and a hop-like crispness. Delicate yet bold.

Smooth and light perfect green tea flavor. I can taste the green tea so distinctly, without any earthy overtones.
Adorable dry tea leaves tightly coiled as to look like a snail's shell. Watching them unfurl as they steep is relaxing. This green tea has a very mildly vegetal flavor with the slightest hint of peppery smokiness. It stands up to multiple steeps with an interesting flavor profile. Sip, sip away!
Wasn t sure if I d like this one, but glad I gave it a go! Delicious, and not too grassy. @adagioteas
Luscious green tea that has a smooth flavor and gorgeous pale yellow-ish green color, it's particularly beautiful against a white cup's interior.
A delicious and refreshing green tea that holds up nicely to a second step. Best to steep in a vessel with room for the leaves to unfurl.
not a bad tea of the green teas that ive tried so far this ranks 2nd or third worth a try strong nutty taste
Complex and layered, with a soft floral and fruit nose, but is also distinctly green and smoky when steeped. Moderately astringent. Burns easily, so take care as bitterness will overwhelm other flavors.
I enjoy this tea, even though it's a bit strong for my taste. But, I still recommend it highly.
A green tea favorite! Excellent flavor that is easy to enjoy.
Wow, what a difference brewing temp makes! I decided to give this one another shot and I'm so glad I did. Instead of brewing at 180/2-3 minutes as recommended, I brewed at 165/2 minutes. Just gave an extra 3 stars because this went from bad to good! Only a hint of bitterness--totally acceptable. At the lower temp, the buttery, vegetal quality of this tea shone through and I am quite enjoying it right now. This tea noob is still learning the ropes. 9 pinkies up!
Its a very nice green tea and makes a smashing 2nd round of tea after the first steep.
This is a nice, smooth green that I'm glad I grabbed to try. Good as a once in a blue moon treat, but not as good as a nice fukamushi sencha.
A tasty tea to sip over and over again. Flavorful.
This tastes like you re drinking asparagus which apparently, some people love, but I m not one of them.
The shape in of itself is enough to intrigue you, but the taste is something else entirely! Though the smokiness is a little difficult to pick up on, the tea offers unforgettable flavors of nuts and earth. Overall, a very laid-back tea!
You have enough fun drinking tea to remember that watching the leaves unroll is the best part here, right?
It's an okay tea, but it trips out my brain. I'm firmly in the "if it needs sweetener, it's not a good tea" camp, but the jade snail has a natural sweet taste to it, and an almost overwhelming honey-like scent when brewed. The natural flavor is almost too sweet for me, and the scent messes with my brain, so I won't be buying more.
It's easy to add too much of this one, as the tightly-rolled leaves unfurl dramatically in the hot water. The smell is very vegetal, like squash or asparagus, and I was worried I wouldn't like it. It's not my favorite green, but the actual flavor is fairly mild (unless you make my first mistake and add more than a slim spoonful of tea
This is a fairly solid tea, with some lightly complex flavors.
I love these leaves. So pretty with an excellent aroma. Was expecting a stronger taste from the grassy smell. A very mild cup of green tea without a commitment to floral or other strong flavor. Good but lacking the oomph I was hoping for.
I love seeing these little tea š« snails š unfurl and become a delicious, delightful cup of tea.
Thought I would try since I'm always looking for a good green tea. It was ok but isn't my go to tea like Sencha Premier.
I have definitely been enjoying this tea. It s got notes of nuttiness, smokiness, and white grape.
I love green teas and this one Looks so delicate with itās pale yellow color. Upon trying it the flavor of grass is very pronounced as it mellows out into the nutty smokiness that I enjoy with green teas like Genmai Cha.
I will need to try a re-steep and see if the grass flavor smoothies out a bit more and I will update my review. But for right now this tea was just OK every once in a while to enjoy. I really want to give this a 3.5 stars because itās better than just ok but not enough that I would purchase more than a sample of it.
Amazing tea if you watch the water temp. don't go by packaging. 160 degrees is what i recommend
Jade Snail is perfect for chilly days. Enjoyable all by itself, remarkable along with a few shortbread cookies. Worth the price, will definitely order again.
I've been a long time gunpowder fan, but have come to find it too smokey. This tea has the smokey element but it's way more refined. Love it and my daily go to...
Wow, my new favorite green tea, worht every penny
This is an ideal morning tea in my opinion, the perfect balance between Gunpowder and Sleeping Dragon. The flavor is slightly reminiscent of Gunpowder, but lighter, with a somewhat herbal aftertaste.
Tastes similar to rain, but jade taste is not overwhelm
Light and simple tea. Indeed a little bit hop-like. A faint grapy sweetness lingers. A good green tea when fancying nothing complicated yet perfectly fine. 4 grams @ 6 oz
To be honest, I do not generally enjoy green tea - although I have had a few that have surprised me and I would drink again. Jade Snail was not one of these exceptions. It was far too grassy to get past the first few sips, then the rest of the brew went down the drain. If you typically enjoy green tea feel free to ignore this review.
Not my favorite green tea, but not bad with some sweetner. Don't over brew
A very light green tea. I was very impressed with how the tightly rolled leaves unfurled.
Grassy tea. Flavor changes after repeat steepings, becoming grape-like.
This was a light enjoyable green tea. I steeped it several times.
(November CommuniTEA box)
The flavor of Jade Snail is too grassy, but I could fix it by adding some milk to my cup.
Not my favorite green, but also no the worst. Just slightly too fishy/seaweedy for me
Not bad for a green tea. Just have to make sure you steep it right.
Oh CommuniTEA, stop making me try green teas. I just cannot get into them. Thereās just something about the grassy/ fishy smell that is so off putting to me. Itās definitely a preference thing- if you like green teas, youāll probably like this. It tastes just like all the other terrible green teas Iāve tried.
This tea was a little strange for me, as I had never had a tea with this particular flavor profile before. It was, to echo another reviewer, reminiscent of algae, which I wasn't really a fan of. I finished my mug but decided to toss what was left of my packet.
I wouldn't refuse this tea, but I probably wouldn't choose it if I had options. It's pleasant enough, but doesn't make me think 'yum, would have again.' I did enjoy trying it, however. Very green and (fresh) grassy. I can see the citrusy hop association. A hint of smokiness and a very dry finish. The leaves are lovely before and after steeping.
This is the second rolled tea I've tried, the first was Gunpowder, but I was still amazed by just how big these leaves actually were. It was so fascinating watching them unfurl. I managed 3 steeps from this, all had a nice flavor.
I enjoyed watching the snails unfurl. I found the flavor to be mild and very pleasing. no sweetener needed.
When I think of green tea, this is the taste I think of. Earthy, floral, sweet somehow, a little buttery. This tea is bold, and it's important not to oversteep to avoid bitterness. A very flavorful green tea.
The leaves unfurling in the cup were very cute and added a layer of entertainment value to the steep process with this tea. The brew itself isn't my favorite as far as green teas go; the color and flavor are similar to gunpowder tea, but a bit more floral, and heavier on astringency rather than smoke, grass, or veggies. Jade snail gets a solid four stars because I won't have any trouble finishing my cup, but it misses that fifth star in comparison to most of the other single-variety green teas I've tried from Adagio thus far. (3 mins @ 180 F, no sweetener)
Glad to get a chance to try Jade Snail through CommuniTEA!Ā The beautiful little rolled leaves had an aroma that reminded me a little bit of sencha.Ā Once steeped the flavor matched the aroma with steamed vegetables notes of a sencha, but with a slight toasty/roasty quality plus a crispness and pleasant astringency that came in at the end of the sip.Ā As it cooled, it developed a subtle white wine quality to go with that tannin-y astringency and crispness, like a fermented grape note, with a subtle hoppy-ness.Ā The second steep was less astringent, smoother, and the steamed greens note became a little bit buttery.Ā I drank this tea unsweetened because I was enjoying the savory, brothy quality about it.Ā Don't know if Jade Snail is my #1 favorite green, but this is a delicate, complex, and enjoyable cup to savor, sip and enjoy.Ā Ā
A really smooth green tea! I enjoy a straight tea, especially one that can be re-steeped.
Oh YUM. Yum yum yum. I adore green teas in general, but there is something special about this one. The scent wafting off of the brewed tea...the strikingly bold flavor...the fun way the leaves uncurl. Why have I not given my taste buds the gift of this tea before??? Off to order more. Now.
