Love, love this tea! Discovered it and love it as a daily tea.

★★★★★

Excellent mild green tea, my go to everyday tea that hit the spot.

A solid gyokuro but more expensive than some local shops.

★★★★★

Good tea that smells a little bit like seaweed. Good stuff.

★★★★★

My favorite green. I like the grassy flavor. Not for everyone.

Those who say cooler water and a shorter brew time are right. I've had gyokuro in Kyoto and this is admittedly a faint whiff of that, but still beautiful (they make it with like sacred pure spring water, I'm not even kidding). Leads with a thick umami taste that softens into mint and grass, and leaves you with some tannin mouthfeel. This will be my afternoon tea for the winter. Definitely also use purified water, if you're not already!

I was so sad when my local Teavana closed. I didn’t know where I was going to find my beloved gyokuro. I searched gyokuro online and saw Adagio. I tried them on a whim and it turned out to be a great decision. The tea is exactly what I am accustomed to in terms of quality and freshness and shipping is super quick .

The grassy taste in green teas isn't my favorite but if you brew this around 175 for 2min tops, you'll get a nice light green tea with a touch of vegetable without the grassy bitterness.

The tea is really awesome. I am trying to play around with making my own matcha. I think it is turning out pretty well. More experimenting on the matcha front is needed.

★★★★★

So very smooth! So very Delicious! Currently, my favorite Japanese green tea. Be sure to brew only 1 minute max for the first several brews.

I thought this tea was a bit bitter, but supposedly it has a very high rating of the ECGC

★★★★☆

Like fresh-cut grass, crisp and refreshing taste.

Pretty nice introduction to Gyokuro. My experience with Japanese greens is limited, but it seems to be very similar to a Fukamushi Sencha I got from another vendor. Umami bomb, but nice grassy notes in the second brew.

I really liked this tea. It had a very distinctive seaweed broth with a tender vegetable flavor. This tea is good both warm and slightly cold. Unlike some green teas this tea did not cause an acidic feeling in my stomach when drank on an empty stomach.

I enjoyed this, smooth and savory tea. It was my first time with this flavor, I had just a small sample of suggestion but I think I will try more. Japanese tea has it's subtle differences and this one represents that well.

I had some really great green tea on my trip to Japan and ever since then my whole perspective of green tea has changed. I've been dying to find tea that would match up to the one I tried in Japan and I'm sooooo glad I found this Gyokuro. The first steeping was amazing and immediately took me back to my trip. Will definitely be getting more of this!

A delightful indulgence on special occasions; I brew a cup when I want to treat myself to something truly special. The flavor is so, so tender. The 'buttery greens' taste was something I'd never encountered before in green tea- I didn't even know it was possible to get such a mild flavor. Don't overheat it or you'll scald it and it'll be bitter.

Honestly, I love green tea, but this one was a bit too vegetal for me. Very grassy. Definitely not a bad tea, just not the one for me.

Bright and refreshing with no bitterness or bite. Always searching for a nice green. A wonderful addition for me. Enjoying a cup in the mid afternoon. Very happy!

I'd ordered tea from Adagio before, but really missed Teavana's Gyokuro Imperial. When I was Googling a good replacement, I was thrilled to see that a familiar company offered a substitute. I was *more* thrilled when my wife and I had our first cup, and we were back. We had our morning mugs of steaming Gyokuro and all was good. Many thanks for that, Adagio!

I cannot recommend this tea highly enough if you are a fan of green tea! I make this in my Breville tea maker and it's a pretty sweet set up, I must say. I brew for 2.5 min. The first brew is strongly caffeinated, grassy and pungent. I'll re-brew the leaves up to 5 times. The flavor mellows as does the caffeine over subsequent brews.

I am absolutely addicted! I won't drink any other green tea. I am sure there are other gyokuro which are better out there in the market, but from what i have access to so far, it's the best!

★★★★★

Perfect!!! I have been wanting to buy this for so long and it was well worth the wait. Nice dark color leaves. Smooth grassy flavor and not to strong if you brew it correctly. I just think the sample size I bought seemed a lot smaller compared t the other samples I have bought in the past. Maybe not worth $8 for that shy of an amount, but it is still a great tea. This is your quintessential green tea!

By far my favorite green, doesn't get bitter the way Sencha can and lasts for several infusions. If you haven't tried it yet, do it!

So happy we found this as a replacement for the Teavana green that would cost way more. Delicious and gives us the extra pep we need in the morning.

★★★★★

I tried this alongside several other green teas from Adagio, and this one was clearly the best. The tea has a strong flavor, and a nice green color. I brewed three times using the same leaves, and it was satisfying every time.

This is an incredible tea. Very delicate and grassy, without any bitterness when brewed properly. Be warned though, the brewing instructions on the label should be changed. A quick google search will give some guidance, but the best I’ve found for this is:

1. 1tbsp leaves in a small pot
2. Just cover with room temperature water, brew for 5-7 minutes. This first brew is the tastiest
3. For 5 more brews, 160 degrees for 10-15 seconds yields the best results

Good green tea. I added a bit more of the leaves to get a stronger flavor. Can't wait to go to Japan and try this there!

Good Taste, standard Gyokuro. Cannot go wrong here. Be careful with brewing times as flavors are very delicate.

I love Japanese green tea and have bought Gyokuro directly from Japan now for many about 2 years. My last order from Japan has yet to arrive; it's been weeks and is likely delayed at customs because of the government shutdown. I thought I would get a supply from Adagio to hold me over. Unlike their black teas (Yunnan Gold, Golden Monkey, Keemun Rhapsody) which were all excellent, this Gyokuro was flavorless and mediocre compared to the one I am so fond of from the Japanese purveyor. This was a disappointment albeit not surprising. I prepared it as I do usually for Gyokuro.

★★★★★

Worth every dollar it costs. Great hot or on ice. Brew by the gallon-- four tablespoons per in bags. After brewing the tender quality of the leaves is easier than eating kale your gi stystem will say thank you.

★★★★★

What can I say? This tea is outstanding. Gyokuro is simply the best Japanese green tea.

★★☆☆☆

I've had a few gyokuros shipped direct from Japan, and every single one of them puts this to shame. Upon opening, rather than seeing the usual deep green color and smelling the vegetative, umami odor, I was greeted with some lackluster grey-green leaves and a weak smell almost like caramel. Brewing didn't help my opinion much; typically I will brew a gyokuro once at room temp for 7 minutes, and receive a thick, soupy mix. Doing this with the adagio gyokuro left me a watery, bitter sencha something. A second brew for 30 seconds at 145 degrees left me with a swampy brownish liquor that tasted of burnt toast more than anything else.

I'm skeptical if this is actual gyokuro, it looks and tastes more like a mislabeled, mid-quality sencha. Definitely overpriced and you can find much higher quality for a much better price directly from Japan.

Huge fan of this tea - I love most everything in Japan so I had to try a tea from there.
I was not disappointed.
The tea is very strong though.
You are also supposed to drink this a special way.
first you cold steep this tea and drink it cold and after the cold steep then you do the hot steeping. It won't be as strong if you use this method which I believe is how it is supposed to be done with this tea.
Really good and you can probably get 2 or 3 cups out of each batch you make.

★★★★★

Don’t be dismayed by the price! This is the highest quality tea I’ve tasted, and you can definitely tell with each sip. This Japanese green tea is perfectly steamed giving it a smooth, grassy flavor. This is a great morning tea!

This tea is the standard of 'good green tea.' Not too grassy, but still fresh and crisp. This tea embodies why some teas are described as creating a broth. Very gentle and tasty, though I didn't find it quite as delicate as some of the reviews said.
