Not “my cup of tea” as they say. Very strong flavor but unfortunately not the type I enjoy. However, I do feel healthier after drinking it since it tastes like vegetables and green (lol, and yes, you can totally taste the color green) hahah
Steamed green tea from Japan. Gyokuro is among the finest of Japanese teas. Deeply sweet, aroma of freshly buttered greens - no grassiness or harshness. Soft on the palate with a balanced, delicate finish. Soothing and centering cup of tea.

I sampled this as part of the July CommuniTEA and was pleasantly surprised. Judging by the price tag I would have never purchased it without a sample. Now it’ll make it into my rotation. Mellow flavors with a grassy depth that keep you sipping. There is a false sweetness that amplified the teas complexity.
I don’t like green tea. I tried everything I could think of with this. Hot, iced, with honey. A sip here and there and I can’t make this “broccoli water” palatable for me.
Upon opening, the smell kind of reminded me of a grassy/seaweed smell. I brewed it thinking I may not like this one. However, I loved the taste. I love green teas in general and this is yet another to add to the list. I enjoyed it plain and felt it had a slightly sweet earthy aftertaste. Update: I still love this tea and it is one of my favorites. It also stands up well to resteeping.
I love this tea! Especially for multiple steepings. It's just so smooth and gets more flavorful the more you steep. I also love it iced.
Gyokuro is my go to green tea. I brew it in my Gaiwan with many infusions. This tea is a vibrant green with the smell of snap peas. I can't recommend this highly enough.
This is one of my favorite teas. We have it everyday in the afternoon. It's a really fresh feeling. Although pricey, it's definitely worth the money.
I guess this tea just isn't for me. it tried brewing it a few different ways but it just came out tasting like grass.
Love this gyokuro! So smooths NA could drink all day
This tea is vegetal but smooth, not acidic at the end like some vegetal teas can be. It is mildly earthy but you don t feel like you re drinking a cup of dirt. Also tastes great with a little squeeze of lemon.
Perfect tea. The flavor is excellent and provides focus to start my day at work.
Awesome green tea. Definite aroma just be sure to steep less than 2 minutes unless you want it really strong 😃
I was presently surprised by the natural sweetness and earthy flavor of this green tea. This is the best green tea that I have sampled from adagio.
Not the best gyokuro I have had, compared to ones I had in Japan, but it's not bad. As long as you don't oversteep and are careful with steeping temperature, taste is soft and fresh.
Only ordered a sample, but two pots full and we are huge fans. It has a luxurious mouth feel and a subtle fruit flavor. I find it soothing and at the same time refreshing. A beautiful cup of tea.
Beautiful colored leaves, definitely very green and vegetal tasting. I'd say the tasting notes are pretty spot on. Not sure it's my cup of tea but it's not bad.
My first Gyokuro but I liked it. Low steep temp and time for best results.
High quality tea, definite savory umami flavor, with light notes of nut and egg. I only steep for 30 seconds in order to get full flavor in future resteeps. I resteep no more than 3 or 4 times, each time a few seconds longer. Mild astringency. Great in you want a strong savory flavor.
I was looking for a smooth green tea and this is delightful. I used the leaves twice and the second steeping was better than the first.
I used to buy this type of tea from teavana. I’m a cancer survivor and read up on the levels of catechins (EGCG), this type of tea has the highest levels. Plus it’s delicious, grassy and full of flavor with big whole leaves
I thought the sencha overture was expensive. This one knocks that one out of the ballpark, and boy does it taste like it! I felt like I should have been drinking this at a fine Japanese ryokan.
Delicious. Excellent flavor really clean and fresh green tea
I got this and the sencha premier to compare the two, I was surprised that the latter was better. This is a good tea but price wise I'd go with the sencha premier.
I ordered a sample to see if this tea could live up to the hype. It does. The aroma remind of fresh cut hay, the taste is mellow with the same flavor.
My favorite green tea! I love the earthy flavor, very smooth.
This is a really good tea. I really like it a lot.
This green tea is great. It’s well worth the cost. If you want good quality green tea, this ones for you.
I love this green tea. I drink it daily! Good flavor!
We have been drinking Gyokuro tea for several years It is our go to tea for good health
Four minutes results in a thicker liquid which I like. I can steep twice with good results and a third time with acceptable flavor.
Gyokuro is my absolute favorite tea (when I can afford it). I like Adagio's Gyokuro but it seems overpriced compared to other sources that are similar quality.
Wasn't sure I was going to like it. All the talk of it being mild made me hesitate to buy it. Not nuts about the initial taste, but man, it has a lovely after taste. Definitely a favorite now.
Update: 4-20: I tried this at a much lower temperature than what Adagio is recommending: 140 degrees and 2 minutes for an initial brew. I got the oily, seaweed flavor that you're supposed to get with this. I'm curious why Adagio is recommending brewing at a higher temp (165)?
This green is fantastic, it has an almost delicate feel to it.
A really mellow tea, with the boldest flavor being a delicate grass that softens out almost immediately. Moderately sweet. I had it with a tiny bit of sugar.
Tastes a lot better than it smells. It smells like collard greens. But the tea has a richness to it that's hard to describe.
It’s not as good as Teavana’s was, but it’s still good. It doesn’t have that re-steep ability, either. Just one time brewing with these.
This was an unpleasant grass, and I tried different steep times and temps and could not fix the taste.
So wonderfully wonderful. You have to try it. Perfectly sweet smokey middle of the road green tea.
Should have bought more of this when I had the chance. It tastes like buttered grass and I miss it.
Very strong green tea. I'm a huge fan of Phoenix green pearls. This is very different. More earthy.
Such a sweet and mellow tea. Always feel very refreshed after a cup of Gyokuro.
The deep green leaves are beautiful. At first, the smell of the tea is slightly off-putting. It isn't a bad smell, but it's strangely savory for a green tea. However, at the first sip, this smell joins with the other facets of the taste, including a radiant greenness and pleasing sweetness, and it becomes clear that this is an amazing tea. I could drink it all day; it is honestly addictive because it is absolutely delicious. My favorite green tea so far.
I was not sure what to expect, but it's a strong green, grassy flavor. Seems like that wouldn't be great, but it really is a lovely flavor.
Probably the best Gyokuro tea I have ever had. A symphony of flavors!
Along with Sencha Premier and Genmai Cha, this Gyokuro is part of my Top 3 teas that I purchase on a regular basis. I never seem to tire of it and it provides a nice contrast to Sencha.
Perennial favourite. I’ve been drinking this type of tea forever.
Of all the teas i have tried this is the tops. Its spring in your mouth. Vibrant, cut grass, minerality with a boldness that feels like a punch to my taste buds. There is nothing like good gyokuro and its worth the money to me. The smell is like buttered spinach and a fresh cut field. One of my favorite smells in the world. It also has no bitterness which you can get with sencha.
I absolutely LOVE this tea. It’s tastes fresh, clean, and earthy.
Not my favorite tea. I followed the directions for brew time and temperature. It tasted very fishy. The second time at a lower temperature steeped for less time and still has the aroma of fish. :(
I ordered several green tea samplers, putting my feelers out. This tea gave off a nice, spinach-y flavor. I know that sounds awful, but it was rich, not 'grassy.' Not too strong, and very pleasing. This was second only to the matcha that I ordered.
