I love this Gyokuru tea. Words that describe this tea for me are: mild, smooth, buttery, savory. It is not bitter at all, unless I brew it above the recommended temp or for too long. I look forward to drinking this tea because I find its flavor comforting and relaxing. I also find that a little goes a long way with this tea.

This tea is so good. To those newer to Japanese greens teas be warned this is not honeyed or floral. This is purely vegetal. It smells like dulce when you open the package and like a vegetable broth when brewed. Do not over steep, do not add sweetener. It should be enjoyed for its savory brothy goodness. I have had Gyokuro from other companies and will say that Adagio's offering is very good. 1.5 mins at first steep. I add .5 mins. to each additional infusian.

This is a high quality green tea and you can taste it in each cup. It has a very refined taste with no bitterness that green tea can sometimes have.

I love this tea! Doesn t have that bitter aftertaste that you usually get with green teas. Will definitely stock up on this.

I make a cup of this every day before work. It has a nice robust flavor, and gives me the hydration and energy I need to power through my day. Absolutely delicious.

This is a slightly sweet grassy toned green tea. It is the softest green tea on the palate compared to the Chinese teas. This is by far my favorite green tea

A decent green tea, with a nice flavor. Maybe not my favorite green, but quite good.

Interesting Japanese tea. I’m new to this type of tea but I’m liking it.

This one grew on me. At first I found the taste odd as it is completely different from the jasmine floral taste I usually drink. It quickly grew on me and made this one of my new favorites.

This tea is delicious! It does not need any sugar added; it already has a great flavor.

February 2019, I visited Japan and picked up some Gyokuro tea for the first time. I did not try it until I got back home, but I regret not buying more. The color of the tea leaves was beautiful and the taste and texture was amazing and I found that I could reuse the same tea bag three or four times with minimal loss of quality. As I started to run low, I began to search for Gyokuro that I could have shipped to me so that I could directly compare. Although it is not exactly the same as the stuff I got in Japan, Adiago's Gyokuro has been the closest so far in taste and texture. Though not as vibrant as the tea I got from Japan, Adiago's Gyokuro is still a beautiful shade of green. I am unable to reuse each tea bag as much, but I can still get a second use out of it, with the third use being only an acceptable quality.

This is truly my favorite tea. I have only recently tried Adagio's version, but it does not disappoint. This is a very beautiful and calming cup. The flavor itself is more savory than sweet, almost reminiscient of seaweed. It is very earthy, and can get bitter quickly if you steep it a little too long. With just enough caffeine to get you alert and moving, this is my go-to morning cup. I highly recommend if you are a fan of vegetal Japanese greens.

It reminds me of fresh grass after it has been mowed, then rained on. I made it stronger than recommended as that is my preference. Each cup was good, and every steeping gave me a different flavor that lingered. My method of steeping always leaves some tea behind. Green tea leaves usually get a little bitter, but that wasn’t the case here. They were tender, flavorful, and almost a little sweet.

This was a new tea for me and it was wonderful and different than anything I’ve ever had. Will do again

This cup had a vegetal, but not grassy flavor. It is a very earthy and mellow flavor- not in your face.
I brewed at a little lower temperature than recommended for 2 minutes.

A damp, sweet, spinach/seaweed taste. Still get grassy notes If over brewed. Really needs that low temp

Nice plain green tea. I get a nutty note from it. Brewing my communitea portion a second time now.

I recieved a packet of this tea that Adagio kindly provided me in a sample box for a week long 'CommuniTEA' trial, and this is the sixth sample of the week. So, I've been trying to find a type of green tea that I might love, since I'm more familiar with (and fond of) black teas. When I opened the bag, it smelled a bit like seaweed, but also kind of a bit like a bag of lightly salted veggie chips, haha. When brewed, it has a beautiful light jewl green color. It has a very earthy / vegetal taste - not bitter or grassy though. I added a tiny bit of honey to sweeten it. This kind of reminds me of a vegetable broth. I love drinking broths, I sometimes drink bone broths instead of teas, so I actually like that this tea is broth like in flavor. It is on the expensive side, but I think I would buy this again.

You know that juice you squeeze out of frozen spinach. Yeah, that’s what this tea tastes like.

★★★★☆

I was amazed by the beautiful green color of the leaves. This tea smells amazing and is quite tasty.

Japanese green. Toasty ocean & vegetable on the nose. Nice balance of that on the tongue, too, with a beautiful butteriness during the last half of a sip. Might just be in the mood for it, but this is a very nice, straightforward green tea.

As I read in other reviews I prepared at lower time & temperature.

I followed the suggestion of other reviews and brewed cooler and for less time than recommended, and was surprised by how flavorful the resulting tea was. It's smooth with a strong umami flavor, and is only faintly grassy. One review calls it 'broccoli water', and I have to agree. But, like, in a good way.

Straight green tea has just never been my style. Despite saying it has no grassiness, I still had hints of that flavor. I powered through the cup I made, but it’s certainly not on my purchase list.

Straight out green teas are not my thing but I actually enjoyed this tea. I won’t say it is one of my favorites but I would have it again.

This is a reminder to me that I don’t like straight green tea. (From July CommuniTEA box)

This is a full-bodied, complex, flavorful green. I'll admit I haven't had anyone else's Gyokuro, so I can't really compare this to other teas, but it's a joy to drink.

★★★★☆

This is a really good green. If you like unflavored greens, you should like this. Like the description says, it tastes super buttery and smooth. I should note that my mother, who normally despises green tea, actually likes this one.

Someone described this as the water you drain from a can of spinach, and I agree. It definitely smells and tastes like spinach water. I dumped a lot of Splenda in it to 'fix' it and make it tolerable, but I absolutely would never buy this one. This would really have to be 'your thing' to justify the high price.

As a green tea, I find this quite lovely! Im usually not a fan, but this tea has a gentle flavor that is not too grassy or vegetal to me; It has a smooth balance. I wouldn't say I love it to the point of wanting to buy more, but if I was asked what unblended green tea I'd like to drink then this would be up there!

Not good in my opinion- had this iced. I'm not a big fan of straight green teas but I got this in the communitea.

★★★☆☆

I am not a green tea fan at all. This is a lighter taste of grassiness. It is a bit sweeter than most green teas I have tasted. It smalls like sweet peas a bit after it is brewed.

Smooth, clean, and light - yet complex. Love this.

I really enjoyed it, but it's definitely not a tea for everyone. My boyfriend tasted and said 'this just tastes like straight up grass.' It is a very vegetal flavor.

My first taste of an authentic Japanese green - it has such a pure flavor, but it’s definitely an acquired taste. I was surprised it took so little time and such low temp to rest such a strong flavor profile.

After reading comments from other people who prepared this tea, I went even lower than the directions and steeped this tea for exactly two minutes, no more, at 157 F. I was rewarded with a deeply flavorful, salty (!), brothy tea with hearty notes of spinach and seaweed. Both my partner and I enjoyed tasting this one, and I fully intend to take another steep off the leaves to savor this very premium single variety.

This is a very good, smooth green tea. I took mine with honey.

Very enjoyable. Occasionally I'll find a tea that tastes better outdoors and this is one of them. Buttery, earthy, with almost a floral, berry finish. If you think green teas taste grassy this one probably won't work for you but if you enjoy their complexity this one is outstanding.

I've read the reviews, and the person who explained entirely how to steep this wonderful tea is my hero. 150*F, 30 seconds to a minute. I can agree that this isn't as good as Teavana but it's still good now that refuge is gone

I’m really enjoying this tea. It is calming as I find many green teas. As with most non flavoured green teas it is very dependent on water temperature and time. More so on water temperature. Too hot and it would burn the delicate leaves. This one from the Communitea is going on my wish list.

I’ve never had gyokuro before and I know this isn’t the best quality, but I did love the flavors so I will probably explore this tea bit more. Delicious!

★★★★☆

This is an excellent green tea. The flavor is savory, like a thin broth.

★★★☆☆

For those who do not like the quite forward, grassy taste of sencha, gyokuro is a good alternative. Much less bitterness, even if over-steeped. However, I found it milder than any other gyokuro I've had - a bit too much so for my taste.

Not “my cup of tea” as they say. Very strong flavor but unfortunately not the type I enjoy. However, I do feel healthier after drinking it since it tastes like vegetables and green (lol, and yes, you can totally taste the color green) hahah

I sampled this as part of the July CommuniTEA and was pleasantly surprised. Judging by the price tag I would have never purchased it without a sample. Now it’ll make it into my rotation. Mellow flavors with a grassy depth that keep you sipping. There is a false sweetness that amplified the teas complexity.

I don’t like green tea. I tried everything I could think of with this. Hot, iced, with honey. A sip here and there and I can’t make this “broccoli water” palatable for me.
