It tastes similar to other greens like sencha and dragonwell, but the taste is a tad more fresh and clean. Definitely delicious, if you like green.
Steamed green tea from Japan. Gyokuro is among the finest of Japanese teas. Deeply sweet, aroma of freshly buttered greens - no grassiness or harshness. Soft on the palate with a balanced, delicate finish. Soothing and centering cup of tea.

Very definitely a quintessential green tea. The aroma is slightly better than the flavor. Worth a sample.
A superb green tea. I've found that using bottled/filtered water is especially important when brewing this tea for some reason.
Delicate, subtle, and delightful. Aroma is so-so, taste is absolutely fantastic.
Mild flavor, however I can't see the difference between it an some less costly green teas; however remember I am used to greens done in boilng water which is a no no.
This is reported to be a very healthy tea. It's worth trying.
Nice oolong tea. Had a kind of flowery flavor and a full aroma.
Having been a frequent visitor to Japan, and having bought the best gyokuro in the gourmet sections of fine Japanese department stores, I find Adagio's gyokuro to be the real deal. I haven't found better in the U.S.
A good green tea. However, I found that it didn't have the sweet, light, vegetal taste that I love about dragonwell. I might describe this green as slightly more earthy and vegetal, but less sweet.
I'm not generally a fan of green teas, but this one was good, although it tasted slightly too grass-like for me.
This is a fine and excellent green tea with a very grassy flavor. Very good tea to share with friends and family, will be buying more in the future.
Sorry. Admittedly, I have to be in the mood (or eating the right cuisine), but I've had green teas that I've enjoyed. The smell from this one had me gagging, and the taste was not much better. Yuck. (And I'm no wimp - I enjoy the occasional cup of Lapsang Souchong or Pu-erh.)
This green tea has a 'spinachy' taste which is not bad, for a green. I like it in occasional doses. The price is quite high, however, so am not sure I will buy more than the sampler amount.
Excellent green tea. If you like green tea, this is where it's at.
this is my favorite green tea. the flavors are light, pure and intense.
Smooth and somewhat sweet, a more robust flavor than I'm used to in green teas. I'd agree with the reviewer who called it spinachy in a good way.
The best green tea. It's so worth the extra money. Yum.
I am a serious green drinker. I grew up drinking many different varieties. This is a nice smooth nutty gyokuro with a nice bite that I would expect from nearly any good green.
This was a good tea. Very simple and balanced; does not have a notable personality, but a solid tea to drink with a light meal.
Excellent, my definition of green tea, steeped only 2 minutes for best results.
My new favorite green, rich with delightful undertones and a smooth balanced flavor.
Gyokuro is easily one of the best teas in the world. Give it a try unless you're scared of vegetal teas.
Has a very nice flavor. Similar to sencha. A very expensive tea though.
I really liked this tea until I calculated what I'd have stashed away at retirement if I put the difference between a tin of gyokura and a tin of, say, kucicha, into my IRA.
Gyokuro is the best green tea I've tasted. Remarkably smooth, even when oversteeped - which I have a tendency to do at work. It doesn't stray too far into the grassy flavor, always mild, always clean, this is the green tea to get.
Great tea for green tea lovers! Very spinachy - but in a good way. This is my favourite green tea.
This has become my favorite green. Brewed correctly, it's very flavorfull. It can turn bitter very easily though.
More of a green tea taste than dragonwell or white monkey, but less than the sencha teas. This is a good middle-of-the-road green tea, though a bit expensive.
Gyokuro and sencha are my favorites. Grown in shade, it contains more polyphenols than other varieties. Truly makes me feel good, energized and calm. Sometimes I mix it with sencha for more subtle flavors and fuller taste.
Seaweedy - thick, a bit salty and a bit grassy. It is less sour and bitter than sencha, but not remarkably better. A good tea, but no better than a good cheeper green.
This is one of my favorite green teas. I will definitely order in bulk next time.
Not my favorite (love that cocomint) but definitely worth buying.
A smooth and delicate tea. It's always wonderful to have in the morning or when I'm reading a great book. It's just plain good.
My husband and I loved the gyokuro--it was neither too strong nor too weak and not too vegetal either. Nice rounded and slightly sweet flavor.
A wonderful, fresh green tea with a nice color and green flavor.
I just don't get the attraction of Japanese green teas . . . too much 'spinach' in the aroma and flavor. This one has an overly raw and vegetal taste. If green teas are an aquired taste . . . it's an aquisition I can easily forego!
I thought this tea was very good. However, it's also very expensive and I am not sure whether I like it enough to justify the price.
my absolute favorite green tea. too expensive for me to buy a whole tin; I like the sample & drink it when I feel I need a treat.
This tea is very relaxing and unique. very fresh, earthy, delicious.
I loved it. I was surprised at how easy it was to order everything.
This is a strange beast. It's grassy but... not like other grassy greens. If you've ever sat in a field of young grass in a midwestern US prairie, and pulled out a fresh chute at the base to chew on: this tea tastes like that very sweetest tip. While many greens taste like a pile of several hour old mowed lawn, this has a fresh vegetal flavor I've seen nowhere else. It also smelled of strawberries when I first opened it, but I smelled nor tasted it after brewing.
All that said, I'm not all that fond of it. I enjoy the occasional glass iced, and even more rarely hot. I haven't tried, but it may be good with dried fruit added to the mix.
A famous Japanese tea, but like many Japanese things is an acquired taste. Tastes a bit like chlorine, but definitely drinkable in a strange way.
Didn't like this one, although I haven't liked any other whites either -- too bland for my taste.
Really nice, full-bodied green tea. I would serve this to special guests after a Japanese meal. No bitterness at all, which is quite a plus with most greens.
A great smooth tea. I didn't like it at first. I'm more of a black tea kind of person. Neverthless, the tea grew on me. I suggest a sample before purchasing a larger quantity.
Excellent tea that tastes rather similar to sencha premier (in my opinion). Top of the line for green tea.
I got this tea for a friend's birthday. She loves green tea and assures me that it's wonderful. Definitely for special occasions!
I am a black tea drinker, and would have to agree with several other reviewers. This tea tastes like spinach. The only way that I can drink this stuff is to put a lot of sugar in it. I guess this is one of those teas that you either love or hate. Do not let it steep for more than the recommended 3 minutes or else the tea becomes very bitter.
What can I say? The Japanese have developed green tea to its ultimate conclusion, and 'jade dew' is the pinnicle of their growing efforts. The first pot is almost 'chewy', and subsequent pots never fail to please. Caution: This is a very fine tea and not to be brewed indiscriminately. Observe the rules of temperature, quantity, and time, and you will never be disappointed.
This one was odd, I liked it, but it didn't have that grassy taste I was expecting from green tea. The leaves were super dark green and very short, making it a great tea for cup only infuser balls.
