★★★☆☆

Pretty good green tea, not going to change any minds about going green but if you're a fan of green go for it.

★★★★☆

Extremely light flavored, with zero bitterness. I LOVE this tea.

Edit 9/15:
I have since ordered different Gyokuro straight from Japan, and while this is still good to drink, I now know what amazing Gyokuro tastes like. This version brews a yellow color, when it should brew a nice light green. Down grading this to 4 stars instead of 5. There are better AND cheaper Gyokuro to be found if you care to look. This is still a good tasting tea, just won't order this one again.

Great tea! Mild vegetable flavor, great color, I would drink this every day.

This tea is quite good - the cup has a wonderful green color when brewed and a classic grassy flavor. I still prefer sencha, mostly because it has the same (if slightly less sweet) vegetal flavor but costs less.

Decent tea and not as expensive as some of the other finer greens.

It is a basic green tea, not excellent but not horrible

WIthout a doubt my favorite japanese tea. Earthy, gummy. A tea experience like no other.
For best results, pour hot (30 seconds less than full boil) water just enough to cover leaves. Pour out first steep once leaves soak in the water (2 minutes). Repeat. Drink the third steeping in small quantities, for most earthy flavor.

★★★★★

Silky smooth and nutty. Clean. A great morning tea.

It's really not a bad tea, just not my taste. 'Buttered greens' is exactly what this tastes like. Although I love green tea, it's unfortunately not a flavor I like in it. Also, be very careful how long you steep it. It can turn bitter pretty quickly if left too long.

★★★★☆

Spring time to me is green tea time. This gyokuro tea is a mouthful of green tea freshness. Remember a little tea can go a long way and this is a perfect example . . . You need to use very little tea to get cup a rich Unami richness. This is a definitely a tea that should be steeped in your favorite tea pot.

The vegetal taste is strong with this one... It tastes almost musty to me, like overcooked spinach. Not saying there's anything wrong with it but it's definitely not for me.

★★★★★

I'm not a huge green tea fan. I drink it mostly for the health benefits, but this green tea is rich and has a more full flavor. It also doesn't taste as grassy as many green teas. One of my favorite greens.

I feel odd rating teas like this when they are my introduction to a whole variety of tea that's new to me.
So this review is written for people who've never had Gyokuro in general, I guess.

I compare it to Pu Erh, which I have had a few varieties of. That tastes like dirt or mulch, literally, but in a good way. This is similar, in that it is as unexpected a flavor experience for someone new to traditionally-made teas, and who's coming from the world of Chais, Vanilla Strawberry Green, and 2-packets-of-sugar Lipton's.

Only instead of tasting like dirt, this tastes like really energetic, really buttery, vegetable leaves. It's ironic that it's shade-grown, because something about the cup reminds me of sunshine and the spring. It makes me feel good, and its color is pleasantly green in the cup. But it's weird, in that its liquor does actually smell like asparagus or cabbage water.

Another odd note: its texture and color are different from any green tea I've seen before. It's very dark green, and slightly slippery to the touch. It's like it's bursting to the seams with the helpful alkaloids that make tea famous.

it's earthy a good green tea. I will order this again

★★★☆☆

This was a great tea, I highly recommend trying it for yourself.

★★★★☆

this is the tea that got my boyfriend into steeping tea. it's interesting that this version has to be steeped for so long (minutes) vs the other versions we've had that were only steeped for 30 - 45 seconds. I personally find the taste too grassy but my boyfriend loves it. He is able to re-steep the tea as well, which makes the price a little easier to handle.

★★★★★

A very vegetal taste. Sweet and kind of umami. Hints of asparagus and fresh cut grass. Mildly sweet, with a strong aroma of plant. It's easy to overbrew, and I find it gets intensely bitter when this happens, more than most teas.

Light, yellow-green liquor. Good for three or more infusions. One minute, two minutes and three minutes at about 170F. One of my favorites, though it's gotten so expensive I don't buy it often anymore.

Use this tea at night. Very soothing on a cold night.

I started my journey with teas while on medical school. I dislike coffee and couldn't continue taking so many energy drinks. This tea is by far (matcha being second on the list) the best for long study hours. It helps you stay relax and focus at the same time it gives you energy. It is my morning ritual which I alternate with matcha. The only thing is that this tea is not very forgiving. If not prepared properly it can taste bitter. You can can have up to two infusions.

It is very earthy and one of the smoothest green teas I have tried. It does not have the grassiness like Sencha. I will definitely buy this again!

★★★★★

tastes just like gyokuro, which stands to reason.

★★★★☆

This tea is a good green, and I found it to be grassier than most. It goes excellent at night after some light dessert.

I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't go way out of my way to get it.

This is my favorite blend of green tea and adagio's has done it once again with their great quality and taste.

A very good tasting green tea the can be brewed multiple times

Excellent green tea...make it in the morning for breakfast

★★★★★

A nice classic japanese green tea. One of my favorites.

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite green teas! It has a buttery, sweet smell and a nutty, bright taste. I generally like to do three infusions, the second being my favorite. Definitely brew shorter and cooler than the recommended. I suggest that one minute is enough, adding 15 seconds for each infusion after. I also like to jostle the leaves a bit to make sure that they all infuse.

I'm generally wary of green tea because it tends to taste like canned spinach juice or fish food, but this was a very pleasant surprise. I will definitely consider ordering this again.

★★★★★

I agree with another reviewer to brew at a cooler temp than you normally would for a green tea. When given a chance for the water to cool before steeping and not brewing over 2min, I got a cravable, smooth and bright tea. Fresh seaweed is present in this delightful and well balanced cup.

This tea is amazing, if you brew it properly. It has a lighty sweet grassy flavor. A very grounding tea.

The tea smells a little fruity/savory. The taste is not-at-all grassy, but very bold with a little hint of what I can only describe as hay. It's a very warm flavor.

Gyokuro is a special treat since it is so expensive. It is a bit more temperamental to brew than most teas (even as I try to be consistent about the temp and time), but when I get it right, it is one of my top three favorites.

I love this tea. I used to purchase it from Teavana but I feel like Adagio's quality is slightly better. Thank you for a great new option and 1/2 the price! WOW!

This is a very high quality tea for sure. With the traditional Light, delicate and refreshing notes. I know this is a terrible thing as this is a premium tea. but I sometimes mix this tea with other lighter flavored green tea and it's fantastic.

★★★★★

Very nice flavor! I use this tea regularly. Would recommend.

★★★★★

This is a smooth and very satisfying cup, it has a nice floral smell in the bag which mellows when brewed and has a light grassy smell.

Personally, I did not care for the flavor. I have tried matcha and did not like the flavor, but still decided to give this a try. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, it tastes the same with an obvious difference in consistency. If you drink or have tried matcha and love it, you will enjoy this green tea.

The tea was outstanding! Brewed at 175 for 2 min in a Breville tea maker... It is perfect.you can definitely brew the leaves at least twice. I just let them steep for 3 min on the second go around. Great tea, great value, great service, fast ship. Thank you!

This is an exceptional tea. There are no veins/stems in this tea. After my son and I brew the leaves, which remain flavorful through several brewings, we actually remove the leaves and serve them as a vegetable accompaniment with a meal.

★★★★★

Absolutely delicious green tea. Grassy taste and low astringency.

Strong, bold and pure green tea flavor. It's a high quality tea.

★★★☆☆

My originally review of this tea was pretty bad because I had tried gyokuro in japan and i thought the ones i had tried there had much more flavor and so my initial impression of this tea was fairly negative. However, after giving some to my japanese friend i was told that this is a pretty standard gyokuro but it falls in the milder part of the taste spectrum. So I am revising my review and giving it an a-OK.
