This is my 'go to' tea. I make a cup every morning with a pinch of peppermint thrown in. It's perfect for me.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

This is my 'go to' tea. I make a cup every morning with a pinch of peppermint thrown in. It's perfect for me.
Quirky looking in its dry form. The taste is tolerable but not one that can be savored.
This is a great economical tea. Just a little goes a long way, and the same tea leaves can be steeped several times.
This is a very strong green tea. I enjoyed it, it's full flavor wasn't bitter like some greens can be.
I haven't had this 'straight' yet but it was wonderful when mixed with peppermint!
I'm new to gunpowder, and fell in love with it at first sip. I love the smokey taste (especially with bacon in the morning!).
One of the best green teas I have had. I will be adding this one to my daily tea habit.
One of the most popular greens and for good reason. these hard little buck-shots are easy to handle when making tea and they are also somewhat resistant to oversteeping compared to other green teas. The tea also is richer and darker than many other greens, which is good for those people who are more used to black teas.
A great tea but be careful with steeping time. It can get too strong quickly. I mix this with the peppermint tea for a great 'morrocon mint' flavor.
Good daily tea, makes a very decent cup of tea, has a smoky flavor that may take some getting used to.
This tea is well named. I love the flavor but it irritates my stomach, so I mix it with Lu An Seeds.
Smoky and featuring mushroom & peach hints, a dark green tea with tightly rolled pebbles of tea
I will order more of this tea. I like the smoky and less pungent taste than other green teas
Excellent for cold mornings when you're in a hurry. Brews quickly, strong (but very pleasant) smoky taste. Takes a few cups to get used to... but has gotten me through many a morning class.
This one didn't appeal to me. Burnt ash tasting.
Best green tea I've ever had. Liked it better than the Mandarin green tea.
I have tried other gunpowders and did not care for them until I tried yours! Now it is one of my favs!
too smokey for my taste
Excellent for those who appreciate a more robust tea. While a stronger tea, it maintains a delicacy that prevents it from being too bitter.
Quality of the tea is excellent, I'm sure -- however this one's not a favorite. I don't mind a mildly smokey black tea, but the flavor combined with a green is almost too abrasive.
A bit dark and smokey. Interesting presentation as the leaves are all balled up. I thought it had been brewed too long comparing the color to other greens, but, quite tasty!
I like this green tea. The taste is not overpowering. You can just sip it alone or with dinner.
My mom used to drink gunpowder in the afternoon. I have wonderful memories of this tea, and the name should not scare you away.
I love this tea! Nice smokiness and character. It is very easy to make this too strong and if you brew longer than 3 min., you will have a cup of very bitter tea. When made as instructed, this is a great cup of tea.
This tea is very interesting and has slight hint of smokeyness and a little bolder than most of the Green Teas I've had
A great tea, nice smoky flavor. One of my regular, almost every day teas. Great in the afternoon.
Very smokey flavor, I used a whole teaspoon and brewed for 3 mins, still too strong, I think next time I make it I will cut down to 1/2 tsp but keep the brew time the same. But the way I prepared it, it wasn't good at all (I'm glad I only purchased the sample size)
A fantastic bold tea with a smokey flavor. Don't let it brew to long or that great smokey flavor turns into cigatettes.
looks like gunpowder; smells like gunpowder; tastes like gunpowder. certainly not for me.
"Hint of smokiness" is an understatement. I think I could get the same results from steeping the contents of an ashtray.
did not like
Not enough punch. I've had other Gunpowder with more punch. Up to you if you prefer a 'weaker' gunpowder.
This was the first time I had ever tried a "real," gunpowder--and it's one of the most amazing flavors I have ever experienced. The taste is almost unbelievably deep with a delicious smoke-like flavor in the background. Strong and yet not overpowering. A must-try!
I really enjoyed this tea. I am not one to usually like the smoky type teas, but this one was subtle enough for me to enjoy!
A simple yet flavorful green. that was very refreshing.
Great balance of smoky overtones and fresh green tea flavor. Can make a strong cup.
Delightful pellets that unfurl into wonderful large leaves. Not a strong taste.
Always great year after year
I love the little gunpowder pellets! They're very entertaining. This has a pretty strong flavor.
Makes a darker green tea, fantastic flavor.
A relaxing tea whose smokey undertones go great with peppermint leaves.
This teas took a few brewings to get it right. I personally use half of the normal amount for my pot and brew slightly less time, around four minutes. Tea makes a beautiful sound against a ceramic infuser. Lovely tea to look at.
I liked it but some other family members didn't. It has a nice smokey taste but is a bit of an acquired taste.
This tea is quite strong with a slight metallic
Interesting tea! Tiny pellets unfurl & make a nice but strong tea.
This is one of my favorite teas. It has a smooth flavor and is never bitter. I ordered only a sampler of this, but will definitely be ordering a larger size next time! With all the talk of the health values of green tea it was wonderful to find one that was so delicious. MUCH better than what you can buy in the supermarket.
Mix to perfection alone or a hint of peppermint makes it incredible. A warned in other reviews... DO NOT OVERBREW..
A delightfully light flavor with delicious aroma.
Long a favorite taste treat, it's fun to both drink and watch the tea unfurl as it brews.
love this tea with meals, especially sushi. very clean tasting.
