gunpowder green is a good full bodied tea that is just classic green tea flavor. for people who say their green tea tastes bitter remember that green tea really should only be steeped for about 1 minutes, 2 minutes tops. although some people like the bitterness of over steeping.

I was not a fan of green tea before after some very grassy tasting Gyokuro but this has started to change my mind towards greens.

Really like this tea. It's smoky, but not nearly like Lasang Souchong. It's golden yellow color in the cup is beautiful. Don't brew too long though.
This was one of the more flavorful green teas I've had. Make sure not to steep this tea in boiling water or it will taste bitter burned.
This is a nice tea. It has a nice mild flavor that is most pleasing. I will also add that this tea is very easy to work with since you are measuring out small pellets of tea.

I am torn between rating this as 'ok' and 'good'. It seems like it is lacking flavor, even though I used a large amount of leaves. The pellet crumbles between my fingers when I squeeze it, meaning it is probably old and stale. A good gunpowder should have more give.
Stronger than most of the other green teas with a smoky flavor and cheap enough to drink everyday. I usually get a least 2 steeps out of it.
My favorite green tea. The best and most full flavor you can get from a green tea. I'm not too big of a fan of milk and sugar in my tea, but this would be a great tea to pair those with.
Gunpowder tea - the loose leaves rolled into balls unfurl when brewed and expand quite a bit. A little goes a long way. Very earthy and robust flavor, almost like a black tea. Lots of caffeine in this - perfect for multiple infusions to get 3rd shift workers like me through the night.
The best simple green tea, neither too strong nor too weak. Perfect for all seasons, and great quality for a reasonable price.
I LOVE gunpowder! I have been drinking this from other companies for a couple of years now. Adagio's seems mellower than the other brands I've tried. If you want to add green tea to your life and dislike the 'grassy' greens (which I do) you ought to give gunpowder a try. It has a bit of a smokey taste and a stronger flavor than, say, the green pekoe.
I'm soo glad this tea is back in stock. I buy this for my husband (too strong for me) and he absolutely loves it. He generally mixes it with peppermint and sometimes citrus tea but he also drinks it alone. He says be careful not to over brew the tea because it goes bitter very quickly, two minutes will do.
Great every day green tea once you find a good way to brew it. If you like Moroccan Mint try 3 tsp gunpowder / 1 heaping tsp mint per 4, 8 oz cups. I brew 3 minutes at about 180
I am really surprised that I love this tea! I don't usually like smokey teas, but this tea is so rich and wonderfully balanced. The smokey flavor is so subtle and brings the flavors together so nicely. I really like to drink this with the amber sugar crystals Adagio sells, or the 'nabat' rock candy sugar sticks you can get at middle eastern food markets. My husband says that the balanced, roasted flavor of this tea reminds him of a rich dark beer, if that helps describe it at all! Highly recommended!
Especially good mixed with equal parts of peppermint. I also find that it goes well with spicy foods. The green tea for black tea drinkers!

I'm drinking it while I write this. It is a little smokey and a good strong green tea. I highly recommend mixing it about half and half with some peppermint tea.
pretty good, as far as green teas go, but not fantastic. it didn't get bitter easily. I would consider getting other green teas as well, and see which you like the most, but gunpowder is still relatively tasty.
Nice Chinese green tea. The relatively strong smokey flavor makes it fine after or with meal tea. Glad I ordered a big bag!
This is a fantastic green tea! It is smoky and has a very powerful green taste and the leaves last for multiple pots. Definitely going to keep this one on hand!
After a long wait, I ordered and received this tea a couple of weeks ago. I found a piece of metal in the bag, and it almost ended up in my cup. It looks like a bit that's used in the process of turning the leaves into little pellets, as it had dried tea leaf stuck to it. I emailed Adagio about it over a week ago and they have not yet replied.
Be careful with this tea.
I really expected to like this tea more than I did. A little strong and bitter. Also, the leaves really expand so I use less than the recommended tsp. per cup.
I prefer the dragonwell green more but this is a great hearty green tea, just be sure to over steap it.
I waited 8 months for my beloved gunpowder to be restocked only to find that this isn't the same tea. It definitely has a different taste that isn't quite as good as the original one. Maybe with time I will like this one too, but currently it is a let down :(

This is my first and favorite green. If prepared using cool enough water (not boiling) it has a bit of a bold flavor. Don't over steep either, it does tend to turn bitter. You need to take care brewing this one, but if you do, the rewards are worth it.
I have been a fan of the Gunpowder teas for awhile and this was my first Gunpowder from Adagio Teas, I can see why people rate it so high, I love this tea.
My favorite green, but I'm not the biggest green fan in the world. Love the boldness, almost pepperiness of gunpowder. It also blends very well with the mints.
Great, strong flavor, I drink it before working out, and I swear it gives me more energy. Also, I love how you only need a little to make a really strong drink.

A pretty strong flavor, I oversteeped it the first time and it was much too bitter. It has a nice balance otherwise, though not an overly green tasting green tea.

Buyer beware!! The 'new' gunpowder is not the same as we have come to know and love. It is decidedly green, loosely rolled and dons't have that great smokey flavor. After six months of waiting only to find that it isn't worth waiting for. If anyone finds a source for the good stuff please post it.
Having never tried gunpowder tea, I was surprised by how mild it is. Characteristic of a Chinese green, it's slightly nutty and astringent without the grassy, vegetal notes of a Japanese green. It's also very forgiving if you oversteep. I'm excited to try making Moroccan-style mint tea with this.
This version of that slightly astringent rolled green tea known as gunpowder does not disappoint. Make certain to use a large enough infuser in order to allow the little pellets to completely unfurl and don't pack it too tighly, otherwise the full flavor will not come through.
The smoky flavor is wonderful
This is a constant in my tea collection. I like it on it's own - it's got quite a kick! But I usually use it as the base for a slowcooked chai. It provides just the right undertones.
