This tea has a very deep taste to it. I found it to be very awesome and well worth it. Seeing how little it costs, I was not expecting it to be as flavorful as it turned out to be.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

Solid green tea! Watching these little gunpowder balls unfurl is pretty sweet.
This one of my favorite teas. I drink it every day. I particularly like the fact that it's easy to measure, so I get consistent results every time.
Great Tea, full of antioxidant power, tea has a real kick to it, and bold flavor. Sometimes I steep it 4 times. A
Just like everyone told me, Gunpowder Greentea is super yummy. I like to watch the little balls expand too
VERY SMOKEY TATSING NOT MY FAVORITE TEA. MY BROTHER LOVES IT THOUGH
The pellet size is a really nice, um, 'feature' of this tea. Really easy to brew. A little subtle for my tastes though.
Smoky green tea. I enjoy the flavor, but could be a unique experience.
I was a little worried about the 'smokey' taste that many have referred to. However, I found this tea to be very smooth to my taste. Would buy again.
Different strokes for different folks - I guess some folks love this tea but I didn't like it at all. Just not my 'cup of tea' I guess!
Like other reviewers, I enjoy the subtle smokiness of this tea, along with the classic Zhejiang green tea flavor. This gunpowder also has a cooling mouthfeel and is an exceptional value.
Exactly what I expected, but much more flavorful than teabag gunpowder. The taste is familiar (still new to loose tea). This must be what they use in most supermarket teas, cause it's a flavor I actually recognize. It's not bad and a great value. Should go nice with some mint and lemon.
A personal favorite that makes a nice, strong cup of green tea. Leaves can be re-steeped multiple times, which is a plus.
Very good for the price, actually amazing for the price. It's your standard green tea, it won't blow your mind, but it'll make you happy.
I really liked this tea. It has a full flavor and is easy to clean out of the infuser.
A really solid, balanced green tea. It's exactly what green tea should be. Affordable and conveniently rolled.
Slightly smoky, relatively strong flavor. Inexpensive. Dark yellow like a good lager. I'll likely be ordering this again as it tastes good and the price makes it an excellent choice for everyday tea.
This gunpowder green tea has a beautifully smokey aroma, and it dances pleasantly on the tongue with hints of sweetness. A perfect gunpowder!
It smells lovely. It starts out a bit like roasted, buttered asparagus and ends with a smokey flavor. Very nice.
The taste is nice and watching those little tea leaves unfurl is a lot more fun than it should be.
The 24 oz. tea was packaged well in a dark zip container. This enables me to transfer some to my counter tin and keep the rest in the back of the pantry ready to refill. The taste was smokey and flavorful ... sometimes I like a touch of honey but no real need as the taste is wonderful! I brew at about 170 for just over 1 minute and use the leaves for two steepings. Any more or longer brew time and it makes the tea too bitter for my taste!
Great tea for a great price! When I read about the smoky flavor, I was a little unsure if I would like this tea or not, I'm not usually a big fan of 'smoke' flavor. I think a better description of this tea would be having a 'strong' green flavor that has made it my favorite green tea.
A good tea with a light smoky flavor. Dont need to use the entire recommended amount since the leaves expand a lot. A excellent tea for the price though, definitely worth a try.
Great tea. Has a complex smokey flavor. A pretty strong aroma for a green tea
Not for me!
Far too much boldness and overpowering smoke flavor for me. I would not buy this tea again!
Watching Gunpowder green tea unravel is absolutely the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. Validated my love of tea, just as I thought I could not love tea any more. The whole leaves dance to infuse with the steamy water and whisk you away from the world's worries.
I really enjoy Adagio's Gunpowder. Great value, and wonderful flavor.
Really good tea, and a great bargain. This is one of my favorites if I don't feel like something super fancy-dancy.
Very good! The color was so light that I expected it to be too mild but it was delicious, more flavor than expected. It had a very nice smell that reminded me of grass and faint mushrooms, which is much nicer than it sounds. The flavor had a distinct vegetal quality, very green, and reminded me of seaweed - not in a salty way but rather like nori, like little bits of nori in the tea. I really enjoyed this and will order again!
Here's the thing with this tea, a little bit goes a long way. Because the pearls expand, you'd want to use about half the amount you would for a normal cup of green. Adagio recommends 3 minutes, but if you steep for half the time, it'll cut down on the bitterness. Plus, due to the strength of the tea, you'll get subtler flavors on the second and third infusions.
It's a strong tea, but prepared correctly, you're in for a treat.
I really liked this tea! I found that it had this sweetness to it, that didn't take away from the full green tea flavor. I also really liked the fact that you don't need to use a whole lot. Really helpful if you are on a budget and need something to last.
gunpowder has an intriguing smokey flavor that pairs nicely with the standard green tea. I like watching the leaves unfurl very quickly as well
my daily green tea. i mix it with a bit of peppermint and an unhealthy amount of sugar. really gets my morning started.
Good tasting tea with a strong smoky flavor. The look of the tea is what is very impressive. Rolled into little balls, you can watch them unfold as they steep.
The tea was ok. It seemed to have an almost oily mouthfeel.
Green tea done right, I love this tea and it is a regular on my list. Add a little lemon grass in with this tea and really really good.
A wonderful full bodied taste. Earthy but never overbearing.
This tea is very smokey, so proceed with caution if you don't like smokey teas. For those who do: It's a pretty decent tea, and worth trying. It combines well with mint.
Very smooth. The smoky finish last well after the cup was spent.
nice flavor - however I find that I need to steep it for at least 3 minutes
This tea was much to bitter for me and I like a tea that is refreshing which I did not feel with this brew.
Great mild green tea. Very earthy and smokey flavor.
One of my new favorite green teas! Almost tastes like miso soup. It's pretty brothy like miso. I was expecting more smokiness, but there really wasn't all that much. Still very good and like I said, one of my favorites now.
If this tea was a geyser it would be called 'Old Faithful.' Always great from Adagio.
This is my favorite green tea by far has a nice strong grassy flavor and can be brewed weak for a more subtle cup.
My favorite green tea until I find one better (as of 2/2011).
Smoke and Deep flavor, Great Green Tea for darker tea drinkers.
This tea has a smokey flavor, and not much else. It's not what I look for in a green tea, but it's interesting.
I make a Morroccan tea with the gunpowder, I brew in the tea pot with fresh mint. I sweeten it with agave syrup. It tastes delicious hot in winter and cold in the summer.
All around great green tea. Very well-rounded flavor with a bit of a smoky taste to it. It steeps pretty strong, so be careful not to over-steep. This is in my top 3.
