I enjoy this tea as an all-around everyday tea. Keep the temperature low enough for greens and the steep time short. You may also enjoy watching the 'agony of the leaves' as they unfold. It is my go-to green tea.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

Stands up very well to multiple steepings, emphasizing different aspects of the liquor's character each time. I seldom go beyond three, though. I tend to prefer stronger early brews than lighter later brews.
I recommend stocking this classic green tea at its low price point.
Smokey but not too smokey. Wonderful! Gunpowder is one my my favorites.
I've drunk 'Temple of Heaven' gunpowder for many years and most of the time I like its astringent in-your-face sharpness and high caffeine content. Sometimes, however, the experience can be a little intense...
So for the times where I want the gunpowder experience, but without quite as much punch I am happy to reach for this mellower variant with a more balanced and smoother taste and I suspect a little less caffeine.
This is my favorite green that Adagio offers. It's earthy and bold in flavor, but has an easy drinking quality and a light finish that makes you want to drink it all day!
If you like a classic green tea, this is the perfect blend
A refreshing flavor of Green Tea, mild and not bitter.
This is my favorite tea so far out of all the samples I've tried. It has a nice aroma and matching taste. It has a strong taste, but doesn't leave a lingering aftertaste. Very smooth.
Expected taste for a gunpowder tea, reliable for a basic green tea. Good price.
One of the best green teas I've tried. Earthy and yummy!
A nice green tea, with just a hint of smokiness. Great to blend with other teas.
I get this tea and sleeping dragon mixed up a lot, both are very good, but one's a little better...I wish I could remember which is which.
A wonderfully simple green tea. This is a excellent choice.
One of the first teas I really liked. I would recommend it to anyone.
It's a good green tea, but perhaps a little too smoky for me. It does have an interesting flavor, and Im definitely glad I tried it, but just not my favorite
Delicious green tea, especially good when paired with spearmint to make Moroccan Mint!
Originally, I had the Ali Shan (Chan?), which I don't even see on this website anymore. That stuff was sooooo good, an amber color, and quite sweet, but it was also sooooo expensive. So I decided I'd have to try to find another green-tea substitute that wouldn't break the bank. Gunpowder is really good, it's sweet, and has less of that vegetal taste than some other greens. But, it's green. A very good green, but I don't really like green tea too much. But if you do, this is sweet and very good.
This is a fantastic green tea! Very smoky and vegetal. Be careful not to oversteep and keep an eye on the temperature.
Gunpowder green tea has to be one of my favorite teas. It's earthy, which I actually didn't expect, but it was such a pleasant surprise.
Easily one of the best teas for the money. It is a rich green tea and can be brewed easily and reused
This is a nice, full bodied tea. I like it blended with Cream as well.
This tea has become one of my main staples. I drink it every day, often one cup in the morning and two more throughout the afternoon or evening. If anyone is looking to start drinking green tea regularly for health reasons (it's packed with antioxidants), this blend has a smooth flavor, not bitter (as long as you don't over brew it), and what I would describe as slightly nutty undertones (the tea flavor experts probably have a better term for the taste, but I'm just going off of my palette).
This green tea starts off crisp and refreshing and with each steep it takes on a smokier note. It took two or three times of drinking it to get used to it yet really like the smoky, bold flavor of this green tea.
A good everyday tea. I like to use it for iced tea
Mixed with oolong, this duplicates the first tea I ever drank. I am thrilled to have finally been able to find it after searching for many years. My grandmother introduced me to it when I was a child, about 70 years ago.
A strong green tea taste, but without being overpowering. Perfect for the late afternoon pick me up.
I really like this tea. It's smooth and light and really delicious with a little bit of honey.
A great priced strong green tea. Perfect if you drink a lot of green tea.
This tea is as BOLD as it's name. It's like squidward's painting, Bold and Brash. delicious. highly recommend.
very interesting, never had anything like it before
Great green tea with a smokey flavor. The gunpowder pellets are fun to watch expand as well.
Great for making Moroccan mint, try mixing this with spearmint/peppermint and maybe adding honey.
Bought it for a friend who mixes it with Earl Grey Moonlight and honey. It is his go-to cup of tea.
Good on the first steep but begins to take on a bit of a seaweed type taste. Not bad but other choices are better.
Weird taste and I dont like it. Also very strong
An old favorite. Great green tea flavor. Always pleases the urge.
So mellow. I love this tea. I use the gunpowder sometimes with an herbal mix. I love the way it tastes with lemon grass.
My daughter really likes this pure light tea! Not much kick!
I'm not crazy about it on its own but I got this for morrocan mint anyway.
Tea comes in rolled little balls and has a mild taste.
I can see the appeal for gunpowder. Great all around green tea. Although i find myself more at home with the Sleeping Dragon with its more complex mouthfeel and flavor.
Nice Smokey/herbal/veg flavor, I've never had a problem with bitterness when I'm brewing it.
One of my favorite to combine with other teas and create interesting tasting blends.
This is one of my favorite green teas on this site. Very clean-tasting and flavorful.
One of my favorite green teas! I love the smokey flavor. It's good for any time of the day.
love the smoky taste and rich-creamy mouthfeel- almost buttery. My favorite everyday green!
Great 'rough' flavor that definitely got me to purchase more after the sampler.
Gunpowder is really great for everyday drinking, it has a nice light Smokey flavor.
This tea has a surprisingly light flavor, and a subtle sweetness I didn't expect. Definitely one of my favorite green teas.
