Great flavor. I can enjoy this tea any time of day, with or without food.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

Great flavor. I can enjoy this tea any time of day, with or without food.
I love the brininess of the gunpowder tea. It's a great oceanic taste you don't find with many other teas and especially the kind you get at the grocery store.
Nice smokey taste and great with peppermint. I could drink everyday.
Very different from green teas that i am used to but still good
Nice smoky flavor, but kinda intimidating for the first few cups because the taste is strong. But its worth a try at least once.
So far, this is my favorite green tea. Tastes amazing and is really smooth. Definitely recommend trying it.
I've tried several green teas but I think gunpowder might be one of my favorites. Many have a strong vegetal taste, which isn't always a bad thing, but not my go to flavor choice.
The smokiness of gunpowder helps to tone down the vegginess and makes it seem sweeter in comparison to other green teas, at least to me.
I steep fairly cool so I can imagine that helps a lot. I did use a warmer steep the first time on accident and didn't love the tea. I was a bit less excited the second time, but I went with the lower temp I typically steep green teas at and found it was significantly better.
If you don't have a teakettle with a temp gauge you can pour the water back and forth a few times between cups to get the temp down. I had to do that at a hotel once because I wanted my gunpowder and didn't want to bring my kettle on the plane.
It's a decent gunpowder. more potent than other Chinese green teas, but this translates well into a Moroccan-style mint tea, which is what it's really made for.
This is definitely a traditional green tea. Full of green flavor. My wife thinks it's too strong, but I like it a lot. People that don't like green tea will think it's bitter or grassy, but I really like it.
One of my new favorite teas from Adagio. Very smooth!
Classic, nothing beats it in the long run. As good as any gunpowder I've ever tasted.
Gunpowder green tea is my staple tea. I frequently start and end my day with a lot of it! It is simple rich smoky flavor, that is just light enough. A distinct, delicious tea, that happens to be cheap too!
To me, the Gunpowder is an introductory green tea. This one delivers. Everything I would expect in a Gunpowder. Lovely mixed with honey.
A solid green tea. Flavor is strong without getting bitter, and has a wonderful color.
My favorite green tea. I have a cup of green tea every morning before starting my day, and it's tempting not to have this every morning. It has everything I love about Chinese green tea. The flavor is smoky with a bit of nut, and is not vegetbalely in the least.
Nice green tea. I am very picky about green tea but this one is good
A bit stronger than the sleeping dragon, perfect for a stronger cup of green tea. Blends beautifully with earl grey!
This is a great green tea. It has a strong roasted flavor.
My first green tea purchase from Adagio, and WOW. Has a great hint of smokiness at the end of each sip, which I loved immensely. Will definitely be purchasing more!
Subtle, comforting but not bright and grassy like other green teas I've tried. I originally got this so I could try blending it with other flavors, but this is another that I like very well on its own.
How can you go wrong with gunpowder green? I strongly suggest drinking it the Moroccan way with mint, oregano, heather or lemon verbena and a whole lotta sugar!
This is my favorite, go-to tea. The flavor is fantastic with a little honey added in. I'm a waterfowl hunter, and I take a thermos of this with me to the blind every time I hunt.
First experience with gunpowder. Very smoky and peppery! I wouldn't drink this by itself, but the tea is good quality and a nice change.
Wanted a moderately strong green tea without added fruit etc. to alternate with black tea. This tea is it. I also like it with peppermint or spearmint.
When you just want good, simple tea that doesn't feel the need to mess around with added flavors from fruit or anything. The low price point and good taste combine to make it a good every day tea.
Good quality tea with a nice flavor. Still not strong enough for me though.
I shared this with my work friends - we all agreed it was one of the better gunpowder type teas we had had. I'll be getting it again for winter.
A very good straight forward green. Hard to beat especially for the price.
mmm I really enjoy this tea. It's best paired with fresh mint or Adagio's spearmint. Good both iced and hot
A nice change from my usual green tea choices. Which are usually seaweed/vegetable flavors. This tea has a very smokey aroma, with a taste to match . Reminds me of a much stronger smoke flavor and less naturally sweet Hojicha.I gave it an 'okay' rating sheerly on my own personal preference of enjoying less smokey greens .
My initial reaction was, 'grandpa's cigar smell', but in the best of ways. It did not taste like old cigar. This is likely my favorite tea from Adagio to date. It
(Update) - I blended some gunpowder with some spearmint 2-1 ratio and holy cow the tea is an amazing blend has moved to the top of my list on goto green tea! Makes for a smooth 'smoky' cup with a crispy mint finish. Absolutely love it!
I wanted to love this tea and make it my 'main' green tea, mainly because the name is awesome and I am writing a book that takes place in the eighteenth century. But despite brewing it longer I can't extract a full body flavor that I look for in green tea. Don't get me wrong it has wonderful subtle flavors that has a subtle smoky effect and leaves a soft after taste. I just prefer more of a kick. Plan to play with how much I add since I don't want to brew for longer then 5 minutes.
This tea has a very powerful taste. Tastes very good with some honey in it. One of my favorites for the price on adagio!
Definite 'metallic' aftertaste as advertised. Not for me.
Delicious, with a savory, full-bodied flavor. Definitely something to be intentionally enjoyed.
This is a very smokey tea, its aroma fills the whole room. It is, however, very good!
light and vegetal, a good cup, brew time 5 minutes at full boil.
Good quality Gunpowder Green tea at a realistic price. This will be my go-to for Gunpowder in the future.
I have to be careful not to over brew this one or it gets a little too bitter for my preference.
This is my go to for waking up in the morning. I have never been a smoker, but I understand that ex-smokers find a bit of comfort in the aroma...
Good green tea. Inconsistent flavor from cup to cup, so I am not actually sure how I feel about it.
It has a very strong smokey flavor, as the name suggests. A little bit too strong for my personal taste.
Gunpowder is alright. It tastes like standard tea.
This tea is good on its own, but I also like to use it to blend with other herbs - peppermint and lemon are two of my favorites. The tea has a very distinct flavor.
I think this is my favorite tea of all teas. It's refreshing and deeply layered in flavor. You can keep it simple or add other flavors in fairly easily. And I also like it hot, warm, and cold, which I can't say of all teas.
I very frequently recommend this tea to anyone who is interested in green teas. Especially if they've only every had the chopped up boxed sort. Such a difference! I regularly give this tea as a gift and so I tend to buy the extra large bag and package up the gifts myself and then have extra left for me. .)
I steep it for a pretty brief time, usually not more than two minutes (generally closer to a minute). I pretty much brew to sight myself, so I always use a cup with a white interior or a clear glass. But I feel like this is pretty easy for anyone to brew. Hard to mess up and with practice you get a better understanding of what you like.
It's a playful tea, love to see the unfurling process. I prefer less smoky teas (but extra smoky scotch).
This is my fiancee's favorite green tea ever. Bold and slightly smoky.
A decent green tea but without much depth. Has a strong smokey taste.
I love gunpowder tea! I was so happy to find that Adagio sells it and for a better price. It's just the best.
Not my favorite green tea. it tastes rather dank and vegetal to me. I'll keep experimenting with brewing times and temps to see if it's just being finicky.
