After trying dragonwell and being underwhelmed, I was hoping I would like this better and I do. It tastes great. I love the sweetness and the grassy notes. I am actually pleasantly surprised because I actually don't like the smell...smells a lot smokies than it tastes. I ended up steeping this a little longer than the package directions as I like stronger was and am used to black teas. My favorite green tea that I have tried so far. Will reorder.

Not as good as I would have expected. Pretty good tea though.

Gunpowder is my usual 'go-to' all-day tea. I mix it with mint during the summer and ice it. I find I can get two or three steeps out of the same batch of leaves, however it can get an odd, slightly fishy undertone. Other than that, one of my repeats.

very nice i liked it a lot very earthy

Brews strongly, with a clear, sharp flavor. A great purchase if you like other gunpowder or pearl teas.

By far the best green tea I have had. Great flavor and not too bitter.
★★★★★
Fantastic green tea!! Great taste without the sense an earthy taste that some develop. Great deal on this variety as well. Really reasonably priced. Will definitely be a staple for my cabinet.

This loose leaf gunpowder puts its teabag cousin to shame. I first ordered it after enjoying gunpowder tea (from a teabag) from my college's cafe. Unlike my weak, bitter teabag cup, this tea is smoky and pungent, with a flavor that only develops more as the tea cools. An excellent green tea. I only give it four stars because I'm rather biased towards black tea, so I am not an avid green tea drinker.

I like this quite a lot! My tea palate has gotten lighter, drinking so much green and white, and I find I can't really take lapsong souchang any more. This green gunpowder is a good replacement, for me. It's got that smoky taste I liked but a much lighter tea underneath it. The green taste is fairly round and rich, though, enough to support the smoky. A good early morning or late evening tea.

Very disappointing. Just pieces of stems and leaves. The flavor was weak

Not really a grassy tea, but a little smoky. Good if you want a little smoke flavor. My mom took a sip, generally doesn't like green tea or smoky tea, and said she'd reach for it. Drink either completely hot or cold, because the smoke sours at room temp.

One of my favorite green teas. Strong, but not bitter.

Originally tried this tea from a friend. I fell in love with my first cup. This particular tea has a nice, strong and smokey flavor. I like the tastes of my tea a bit stronger so I steeped about 2 tsp of the gunpowder to roughly 10 ounces of water and allowed it to steep for about 3-5 minutes.

Light, slightly smoky, green tea. A very enjoyable drink.

Lovely smooth, slightly smoky taste. I love watching the leaves unfurl as it steeps. Great for multiple steepings.

have ordered this before so this is a reorder very good

An excellent green, just as everyone else has said, it's smooth, smokey, and slightly vegetal. I pair it with spearmint for a Moroccan Mint type of tea. Works very well.

A good, all around, green tea. It has a nice flavor and smells great.
★★★★☆
Not a strong green tea. Good all-day hot or iced. Great value tea that can be brewed several times. I use the Brivelle Automatic green tea setting strong for best results.
★★★★☆
Had a tea like this one before and was glad to find it here. Has a very light smoky taste. Will be buying this one again.
★★★★★
A bold green tea. I've had gunpowder from other distributors and this one I think is the best. It's smooth and doesn't have quite such a grassy taste.
★★★★★
Very smooth green tea. would make a good tea to use on a regular basis. Just got a hint of smoke in the taste.
★★★★★
As other's have said, a great daily drinking green tea. What makes this tea unique is a pleasant dusty taste that is refreshing and intriguing at the same time. It's complex enough to drink regularly without getting bored which is a great price. At this price it's very hard to beat! Note on my steep time, I tend to like more assertive flavors and tend to like things that may be more bitter than others, so caveat emptor.

Vegetal and sweet it doesn't have a huge amount of character on its own, but makes for a great blend with the herbal peppermint to make a classic Moroccan Mint Tea.

Smoky cup. Just as expected. Great on its own. Splendid with spearmint and a truckload of sweetener over ice.

For a green tea, it's ok. It tastes good, but is very weak. Tastes like any other ordinary green tea.
★★★★★
Sip on this all day and it helps to relax when doing work.
★★★☆☆
Clean, smoky taste that lasts through to the bottom of the cup - no bitterness. Leaves just a bit of a 'dry mouth' feel.
★★★★★
I use this tea for my green teas smoothies because it is very good all around nice green tea!
★★★★★
Heavier and a bit less clean than Japanese greens, but still pleasantly sweet, velvety, with a hint of smoke.
★★★★★
This tea continues to thrill me. It is my morning tea and has just the right amount of zip and flavor for my morning tea.
★★★★☆
Fairly strong green tea, a bit of sharpness in the flavor but very drinkable. Would be a good tea for a meal
★★★★★
Excellent green tea. One of my favorites because it's never bitter, grassy, or astringent even after 3 steeps! I enjoy it unsweetened too.
★★★★★
Smooth. Just the type of tea that i was looking for, when I started with Adagio Teas.

Very simple yet strong flavor - a very good basic green tea for starters and the experienced tea drinker.

This is probably my favorite every day green tea, just be sure that you don't steep it very hot or too long.

I have tried this tea several times, and it has a very woodsy aroma. If you like Chinese teas, this is definitely worth a try. I have found that I get the best flavor when brewed in a container that is large enough for all the leaves to fully open. When my water is boiled, I first pour enough water to fully submerge all the leaves and give it a few swishes to rinse it, and then pour the water out. Only then do I pour more water in to steep it.
As a side note, this tea also goes wonderfully with the spearmint tea to make Moroccan Mint Tea.
★★★★★
This is one of the better green teas I've had since I became interested in leaf green tea. Milder than Sencha, but not nearly as mild as some green teas.
★★★★☆
This is a very mellow tea. I sought this out because it was an ingredient in The Sheriff's Secret Police (Welcome to Night Vale tea themed collection) and it turned out to be one of the flavors in that blend that I particularly liked.

I love green teas, and this one was no exception. With a nice aroma and a smokey flavor, this tea ranks high on my list.

I really like this tea. In comparison with the Sleeping Dragon green tea, it's very subtly inferior in my opinion. It's still great, but the Sleeping dragon had a stronger, more smoky flavor which set it apart for me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes green teas.

I have had alot of gunpowder, but this supplier gives the best quality at a reasonable price. If you want to try gunpowder for the first time I would buy it here.

I decided on 'great' for this because, considering it's price, it really is a great tea. As a lot of the reviews say, it is smokey and smooth. It also has a gentle sweetness and a slight refreshing astringency that is not too bitter. A great standard green.

A great example of what a green tea should taste like.

I've found that the more assertive and slightly smokey flavor of the gunpowder isnot for everyone in my house, but I think it makes a pefect cup,is good for resteeping, and also works well for fermented Jun.
★★★★★
A very smooth tasting brew that does not cling to the tongue. Slightly smokey and herbal, without being grassy. I will return to this tea again and again.
