Gunpowder Customer Reviews

A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

This is one of my favorite green teas. It has a nice dark flavor without being too grassy. It is great with honey and without.

Great flavor and aroma. A little goes a long way. Can very easily get two cups from a small amount of leaves.

This is one of my first teas, the smokiness and slight mellow notes makes it my personal favorite

★★★☆☆

Gunpowder green is a basic, but enjoyable, green tea. It has an earthy taste that can quickly become bitter if it's oversteeped or steeped too hot, so be careful. Gunpowder is a nice introduction to green tea, but if one is looking for a lighter or sweeter green tea, there are other options that better serve those needs.

A great green tea! I tend to like black tea's but I like how this one has a bit of a smokey flavor and is very good to drink in the mornings.

★★★★★

I love, love, LOVE this tea!!! Gunpowder has long been my favorite green tea, and this is a fabulous example of it.

★★★★★

I really loved this tea! It's not quite at the top of my list, but it's close! It has a nice earthy feel and goes great with just a little honey.

Bought it because of the name but glad I did. Robust flavor- the tea to drink when you need a jolt of energy.

★★★★★

This tea has more body than the average green and isn't at all bitter. It's good, warm 'campfire' type tea and holds perfectly all day in a steel thermos.

This stuff is amazing! I would highly recommend this for your daily green tea drink!

★★★★★

A wonderful green tea! I can say that so far, this is my favorite green.

★★★☆☆

I simply don't enjoy this tea, its flavor doesn't suit well with me and it had a slight bitterness that I couldn't get rid of.

★★★★★

This is a really nice green tea!... though I think I prefer it in blends.

★★★★★

This is my second-favorite green tea. Steeping as directed yields a lovely, grassy flavored tea with a very faint smoky finish. Excellent with honey.

Not the best gunpowder tea I've had. Ok, but I wouldn't order it again.

★★★★☆

Awesome green tea especially mixed with spearmint.

The smoke flavor of this tea is incredible. One of my first teas from Adagio a few years ago and I fell in love with it.

★★★★★

Mix with Mint and keep a pitcher in my frig for geast.

★★★★☆

Very solid Gunpowder entry. Entertaining the idea of using this in tea cocktails.

★★★★☆

I've used this in a couple of my blends. Very smoky and light, perfect for all sorts of tea.

★★★★★

Good tea. Brewed it for more than an hour the first time and loved it. Brewed it for 3 minutes the next and it was still good.

★★★★☆

I really liked this one. It has a smooth taste that is still wholesome and full. I got the recommendation from a friend and she was right. It is delicious!

★★★★☆

Yup, it's green. Milder than the Sleeping Dragon, and more to my liking. Smells very strong in the bag, but sweetens in the cup. I really like the smoky elements. Would order again for a standard green tea.

★★★★☆

This is a nice green tea for any time hot or iced.

★★★★☆

I loved how this tea can be used
For a second cup.. Like how the leaves
Open up..

This tea is actually somewhere between good and great. I really enjoyed it, but it's more of a solid daily tea than anything truly special. There is a nice roasty note as you drink it, which I really enjoyed. All in all a very good tea.

★★★★☆

Gift for my boyfriend. He loves adagio's gunpowder green tea. It is a staple for him.

★★★★★

Love the Adagio gunpowder, it is a relaxing tea for me, and with just a touch of honey the perfect cup to get going for the day.

A nice green. I bought it to mix with spearmint or peppermint to get my own 'Moroccan Mint' blend.

★★★★★

This is a really nice green tea. I like to drink it in the office.

★★★★★

I tried this tea a while back and simply forgot how amazingly delicious it was. It's the perfect combination of grassy and smokey. I am a huge fan of teas with a hint of smoke flavour and this one fit the bill perfectly. I also love the presentation of this tea, from the way they are rolled in little balls, to the wonderful colour it makes it the cup. I think this tea has for sure made it's way onto my favourites list.

★★★★★

Very strong green tea. Perfect when you need to perk up.

★★★★★

This is my favorite green tea. I absolutely love it! You don't need much, since the leaves uncurl, and you can re-steep. Just use less water than the first time if you do, because it won't be as strong, but it will be just as good.

★★★★☆

A good green tea. Not too overpowering, but does not have that much of a flavor to it. It is enjoyable to drink.

★★★★☆

A nice evening cup of tea that is not too acidic. Not too creamy, more vegetative and earthy.

★★★★★

Very good everyday tea, I love the slight smokey taste and the affordable price for such a quality tea.

★★★★☆

This is a very smoky tasting green tea. It's a pungent flavor if overbrewed. Steeping for half the recommended time makes the flavor milder. As strange as it may seem, there is a slight coffee taste.

★★★★★

nice and strong, a great morning tea. I had never heard of this tea until a coworker mentioned it.

★★★★★

this tea is amazing, one of my favorites. it smells very nice and has a good earthy flavor to it. will definitely order again.

I had used Gevalia and Twinings green teas, and enjoyed them. This tea seems more flavorful, and certainly more enjoyable to brew. The hand-rolled leaves unfurl to give an amber brew that needs little sugar. My new green tea!
