I really liked this tea. The color is darker and more golden than most other greens, but the taste is still light and fresh, if a little less woodsy.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

I really liked this tea. The color is darker and more golden than most other greens, but the taste is still light and fresh, if a little less woodsy.
One of my staple greens that pleases most people, especially casual tea-drinkers who are branching out a bit.
Out of the first 3 green teas I tried - dragonwell and jasmine yin hao being the other two - I would say this is definitely my least favorite. The smell is very deep and dark if that makes any sense.
The flavor is quite odd to me, and maybe after drinking a few more cups I'll be more accustomed to it, but it almost has a chemical like taste to me. While this is by no means bad and I will enjoy drinking the rest of this, I can't say I'll be buying it again unless I find that it just takes a few more brews.
This is good gunpowder as to taste, but it has an awful lot of tiny pieces that make it through my infuser and into my cup. It also has a lot of stems, which I never had in previous gunpowder bought at another company.
I'll preface this by saying I'm very new to loose leaf tea. Anyway, this tea is quite smokey, indeed! Other green teas I've had in the past (mainly from restaurants, like I said I'm new to this) were quite nutty and savory; however, this tea is smooth and the flavor is light, aromatic, and smokey. I found the second steeping to be just as satisfying as the first! Overall a great affordable green tea.
This was my favorite tea from the green sampler, and I just came back to get the BIG bag. The REALLLLYYYYYY big bag. I love this hot or cold, and I always want my black tea with milk and sugar, but I love this completely plain- it needs no additions! I -do- like it fairly strong (probably considered oversteeped for a green tea).
One of my favorite green teas! Can't do better for the price!
I have a deep love of green tea, and gunpowder tea in particular. This is a great one, with a smooth mouth feel and a delightful aroma. My first cup was far to strong for my palate, so I halved the amount of tea used in the next one, and it was perfect.
This green tea makes the most ~magical and amazing cold brew! it tastes just like the green tea i had from japan! so perfect! I will always have this in my pantry from now on.
Very mild. Great choice for a newbie tea drinker like me. Love using it to make the Morroccan mint.
pleasant all day tea! I like the hint flavor of smoke, definitely going to be a go to tea for my green. Next is to try it blended with some forms of citrus.
Tastes great on its own or mixed with peppermint tea.
Pretty good green tea. I use use this to mix with mint to create a Moroccan mint tea. I also tried it for the green tea in bubble tea. Not too good for bubble teas because the green tea wasn't strong enough.
Smooth with just a hint of smokiness, this tea is my go-to green and tastes great mixed with any flavoured tea.
A legit gunpowder. Try it leveled up with spearmint to start the day at maximum flavor!
My grandma really loves this tea. I like it a lot too.
Good but not great. just a basic green tea, largely forgettable. better when used to make Moroccan mint
Love this gunpowder! Very pleasant taste and even good for an extra rebrew.
I like gunpowder tea as my generic go-to green tea. It's not fancy and mind blowing, but it's a reliably good green. It can get horribly acidic and sickening if over steeped though!
Gunpowder is definitely a fitting name! Strong smokey presence accompanied by a nice vegetal body. I would also reccomendation a brew for this, 4hrs in the refrigerator in a glass decatur(or mason jar). You can do this another time or two.
I really appreciate this tea, it's strong, don't have to use much to get a great cup of tea. reminds me of my tea's while stationed in Japan.
It's between ok and good for me. The taste of gunpowder is smokey, which oscillates between great and mehhh depending on my mood.
Really good green tea, nice price for taste ratio. Has a smoky taste but not very potent. Also a grassy flavor as well
Very clean gunpowder compared to another I've tried from the Middle East. A very enjoyable cup.
This is a nice green tea but it only has nice strong green tea flavors if you steep it longer than most green teas. I usually steep green teas for 1-1.5 min but I needed to steep this one 2.5-3min to get a strong enough flavor especially when I used it as an ice tea mixed with lemonade.
Purchased the large bag of this for my sister after sending her the sample. She fell in love with it and thanks me every time we talk.
Great, as always. Gunpowder tea is always a little divisive, I feel, but I love the smokiness and depth. Probably my favorite green that I've ordered from Adagio and I'll definitely be picking up a bigger bag of it next time.
As my first green tea, the subtle flavor took some getting used to for me to enjoy it. It always tasted bland to me, so I would blend it with peppermint which made it a very relaxing evening drink.
The description fits this tea well; a golden buttery taste! One of my favorites!
This green tea has good flavor and I order it often. It's one of my standbys.
This tea has a great flavor that is stronger than most green teas. Perfect!
One of my favorite teas!!! I prefer it strong, so I let it steep for 35 minutes to extract as much flavor and antioxidants as humanly as possible. Have to cut it with one teaspoon of raw cane sugar afterwards. Maximum flavor when served at room temperature. Highly recommend it for all people to enjoy! Make it the night before as it gets better the next day!
Anothwr chemical tasting tea. I really did not like it ans i tried brewing different times and temperatures.
This is one of my very favorite teas. It smells and tastes delicious. I love the way the leaves are rolled up like little bullets so it makes it very easy to measure out and make just the right amount. And it's a nice clean brew, meaning there aren't any little pieces floating around.
I'm pretty meh about this one, I think it's a good basic tea, but not my favorite green I've had from Adagio.
Gunpowder is the best, most consistent green tea I've had. Def recommend it!
This stuff is really good. Something we like to drink for brunch.
what a pleasant surprise! beautiful tea, no bitterness even after I over steeped it! This could become my go-to tea!
I was no fan of green tea until I tried gunpowder. Initially, it was the pellet form and smoky scent that attracted me, but once I took that first sip I was won over for life.
Gunpowder is green tea, but it actually brews into a yellow liquor with sweet, coppery notes. If you don't steep it for more than 3 minutes, it goes down surprisingly smooth for a green tea and it is only faintly grassy. The caffeine content is dwindlingly low - just enough to refresh your mind without giving you any jitters. I often have a pot just before bedtime.
I freakin love this tea! This is probably my favorite green tea of all time! It's really light tasting, and it takes a while to fully steep, but it's really worth the wait. I bought an ingenuiTEA and it was so calming to watch the little tea rolls unfold as they steeped. Will be ordering again and often :D
I followed the directions on the bag with water temp and minutes. It's wonderful and tastes great. Great smell, tastes wonderful. I tried a little honey in it (no milk). I love it.
This is my go-to afternoon tea. A bit more robust than Sleeping Dragon, my morning tea. No grassy taste, nutty and smooth.
Delicious strong green tea. Not grassy at all, I would like to try it with peppermint.
My first time trying gunpowder green tea. Its very good!
I love gunpowder. It's smoky without being aggressive like lapsang souchong, and has a nice green earthy taste to it.
Pretty good for my first green, with a smokey taste. Also tried it with spearmint, which I liked even more.
My go-to green tea. I love the tiny rolled tea balls and the taste is divine. Gunpowder has a lot more kick than many green teas but it's not bitter or sharp. Highly recommend.
I think I brewed this tea too weakly, but it's really good! The flavor is kind of savory with a bit of smokiness; it isn't really grassy at all. It's a pleasant pale rusty color. Next time I'll try following Wikipedia's instructions to use 1 tsp per 150 mL instead of 1 tsp per 240 mL (which is how I interpreted the vague 'cup').
This is my favorite green tea. I've only ever tried store tea bags and wow! I was surprised at the difference in flavor. This is my new go to green tea! Love it...
This was a good bang for the buck, I'll be gunning for it immediately on my next order. Explosive flavor and definitely shot me awake.
