Easily my favorite green tea, gunpowder is great for those who like a smokey flavor. The pellets expand quite a bit with the hot water, so you don't need to put more than a teaspoon per cup into your infuser.
I used this to make Moroccan mint tea, which I had never had save for tea bags. It did not disappoint! Both the color and flavor were very bright and clean
Surprisingly good green tea, does have a strong aftertaste that is common with gunpowder.
Not a fan--I guess I'm just not a green tea guy. Maybe if I had added some stuff to it it would have been good.

Got this for my husband, because we usually just get a generic, grocery store brand of tea off the shelf. But this was amazing! Green tea isn't even my thing, and I may just be converted. During the summer, this will be amazing over ice.

This is my go to green tea. The taste is strong, smooth, and vegetal. The smell is soothing and color is a lovely dark green. It also happens to be in my favorite tea, the Lestrade blend by Cara McGee. I definitely recommend giving that a try.
Very sensitive to steep time. It is just okay, not good or bad.
While amazing with mint, this is a wonderful strong green tea to drink by itself too. The smokiness is mainly a smell, while the taste is a classic full-bodied green tea. There is more of a sweetness on resteeping.
First time I tried this tea. It was great when blended with others.
I enjoy the smell and general flavor of green tea, but I very rarely love drinking it, when it really comes down to it. There's a sort of watery, vegetal taste to typical green tea that I don't enjoy drinking an entire cup of, but gunpowder entirely lacks that. It still has the green tea smell and flavor that I love, but is a much heartier cup. And I would only call it 'smoky' when compared to other green teas. In any case, I love drinking this tea... even when I use too much heat or time than is recommended, and end up accidentally cooking any sweetness out of it.
A wonderful, everyday tea with a nice, almost smoky flavor.

Despite really wanting to like this, I've been unable to get very much flavor out of it. With a name like gunpowder and a description promising smokiness, I expected a much more aggressive tea than this is. Overall, I found it hard to discern many flavor notes and I am unenthusiastic about this tea.

Very good quality gunpowder tea! I use it primarily in my Moroccan mint tea and it never disappoints!
This gunpowder tea is very good when paired with mint tea, to make a Moroccan mint, but I don't find it very enticing alone.
I absolutely love this tea! I'd tried others in the green tea collection and nothing compares, except Jade Snail. If you are looking for a robust green tea, you just found it.

A staple green tea that everyone should have in their kitchen! Great aroma and flavor. Perfect tea to add other ingredients to; I enjoy mixing mine with blueberries and rose petals.
I really like black tea but if you want to change things up sometimes with some green this is an excellent choice.
This has a great nose and a great earthy taste. I honestly didn't think I'd like it as much as I did, but it has a flavor that's great for an evening sipping tea.

This was a really enjoyable tea. I haven't had many green teas and was intrigued by the description. I really do like it, its fairly strong but not overpowering. I did brew too long once and it did get bitter.
Most of the unflavored, loose-leaf green teas I've tried had a strong vegetal taste that I don't like. Gunpowder does not. The vegetal quality is light, like the tea itself. There is a slightly sweet, smoky, nutty taste, which is interesting and enjoyable. It can be re-steeped at least twice.
One of my favorite flavors. Not to strong, great for ice tea.
I like gunpowder tea. Not as strong as some green teas I've had but it has a good flavor. Good 'starter' green.
It's easy to forget how good this tea is because of how basic it is. This is a good, no-frills, flavorful green tea.

I bought this just so I could mix it with spearmint to make moroccan mint tea because I've been dying to try it. I'm such a huge fan of mint teas already and this sounded delicious. I was right, it was perfect. I haven't tried this by itself though and since I really should be giving a review of this tea and not a mix I'll try it out alone and update this soon.
Smoky, full flavored, astringent. Nice feeling mouthful, not strong yet still bracing.
Quite mild in flavor. Earthy-tasting. Not bad, but I prefer tea with a lot of flavor.
A classic. But strangely, it left me a little cold. Others who I've shared it with appreciated it though.
Really enjoyed this one. I don't take the smokiness, but it's a nice smooth tea, with a bit of pleasant grassy flavor. I'll add some mint next time I brew.

I LOVE this tea. In fact I'm drinking my last cup and am going to order some more. This has a little sharper taste to me but not bitter. Add a little honey and its divine! Even tastes great as it gets cold. I can get 2-3 steepings from these fun little buds.
This is my favorite get-up-and-go tea. It has a great body without being bitter and most of the time I don't even add anything to it.
Nice flavor, not too much smoke which I liked. Have been enjoying this in the afternoon as a latte with frothed almond milk.

I really liked this tea. The color is darker and more golden than most other greens, but the taste is still light and fresh, if a little less woodsy.

Out of the first 3 green teas I tried - dragonwell and jasmine yin hao being the other two - I would say this is definitely my least favorite. The smell is very deep and dark if that makes any sense.
The flavor is quite odd to me, and maybe after drinking a few more cups I'll be more accustomed to it, but it almost has a chemical like taste to me. While this is by no means bad and I will enjoy drinking the rest of this, I can't say I'll be buying it again unless I find that it just takes a few more brews.
This is good gunpowder as to taste, but it has an awful lot of tiny pieces that make it through my infuser and into my cup. It also has a lot of stems, which I never had in previous gunpowder bought at another company.
