I need to learn to make this before I think I'll truly enjoy it. On its own, it is excessively smokey to the point of tasting like a firepit smells.
A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

A very light and tasty green tea. Not at all sour or bitter like some can be. This was refreshing and enjoyable.
This is my very favorite tea, and I drink it every morning. Much less expensive than comparable teas elsewhere, and it tastes great. I love to add a dash of other flavored teas in when I brew it, but it is an excellent standalone tea as well.
Love this tea. It is very fresh and I enjoy the flavor. This is my favorite.
Smooth and fairly simple but I love it for when I'm just itching for a nice cup of green tea. I have yet to try to rebrew the leaves like other reviewers have mentioned but I will keep that in mind for future reference.
Bought this for my husband and he really liked it—a smooth and tasty green tea. It also makes a refreshing cold tea as well.
I have been ordering tea from adagio for a little over a year now and I have never been disappointed in the quality of their tea I have been loving there oolongs and I'm just starting to learn about green teas i find this tea very easy to drink it's a light Smokey vegetable flavor with a hint of sweetness this is a good everyday green tea
One of my favorite Greens! Best brewed in a basket or left to unfurl in the cup itself. I really enjoy the smokey tones and pair it with a little honey. I also recommend brewing with a little Golden Monkey for more of a palette.
This one is okay for my taste. Very heavy on the palate versus the Gen Mai Cha or Earl Grey Green.
It has a nice smoky flavor but I think I actually prefer this tea in blends rather than on its own.
Tastes greatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Eh. It's ok on the astringent side for me, not my favorite.
Good for the health benefits. Average taste. I mix white tea with it to improve taste. Drink for your heart health
I've always been a black tea person, but this was interesting and not unpleasant.
wonderful tea. I love the way the leaves are rolled up and unfurl full of flavor!
Really nice classic green flavor. My SO (who isn t a tea fan really) likes this one a bunch
Bold and full flavor. This green tea I my absolute favorite
This is what I use to make Moroccan Mint. I use spearmint and put in half of each. If you like the mint to be prominent, use more of that. It s amazing iced!
Love this Green tea another one of those teas that again is very calming and flavorful. I actually love mixing this one and the peach oolong together and its one of the best tea i've had ever.
Very tricky to make since the timing has to be precise. Also, don't agitate it while it's brewing. Other than that it has a unique smoky flavor that's unforgettable. The little nuggets are fun to scoop!
Strong tea for energy. Fresh tasting. I use agave with it to make it sweet.
It's not my favorite green tea so far. It is really strong when it is hot and I personally like it more when it is iced. I recommend adding some honey to it to balance it out.
Maybe I'm spoiled by more robust, large leaf varietals, but after experimenting with varying water temps and brewing times, this doesn't seem to be as forgiving and doesn't stand up as well to repeated steepings as other Chinese greens. I'll probably get through the 4 oz bag, but it won't be a repurchase. This might be a good choice for people who usually only want one 8 oz cup at a time.
A classic dark green tea that is great for any time in the day!
Excellent tea for the price. Strong green tea flavor with a slightly smoky undertone. You won't mistake it for one of the master series, but it's hard to go wrong with a bulk bag of this. I can typically get two resteeps, each 10 degrees higher than the last.
Nice, smooth flavor tea. Like it in the morning before work.
This is definitely my favorite green tea so far!!!
Deliciously robust and flavorful. If you don't over steep the tea, you'll get a smooth, strong and yet, naturally sweet green tea. The smokiness and the sweetness gives a wonderful balance.
The name really does describe this tea. Gunpowder! An actual smoky taste. Brews strong
Rich flavor, great aroma, lasting finish. Wonderful cup of tea
I like this tea occasionally buthonestly kinda taste like cigarettes
New to green tea but this one is rather enjoyable. Definitely can taste the smokey flavor others have mentioned
This is the best gunpowder green that I have found.
Still working out the kinks with this one. Not my absolute favorite cup of tea, but I enjoy the novelty of it.
Great tea with smooth flavor. Perfect alternative to a morning cup of coffee.
Decent green tea for the price. Makes good ice tea.
The aroma of this tea is quite pleasant. Being a fan of green tea I was not disappointed with this one. Smooth with a smokey hint. Good for two infusions.
I love green teas, and but find this one a little bitter for my taste.
Bold! This will wake you up in the morning for sure. I love it!
my favorite daily morning tea. I keep this one regularly stocked. great introduction to green tea; simple, slightly grassy flavor and hard to mess up the brew time.
Black tea in the morning and green tea in the afternoon. Dragonwell and Gunpowder are the classic greens and I enjoy them both regularly.
It was a very refreshing tea, especially when it was iced and made with honey and mint.
I love the way leaves looked when I first opened the bag. I am a green tea person and this one doesn t disappoint me. There were powdered leaves that escaped my infuser, that s not a real issue for me. I could get a second brew too.
Really, really, really mellow green tea if you follow the instructions on the package. Hard to appreciate the smokiness (it is there!) without steeping for just a little bit longer than two minutes. Another great 'daily' green tea.
Unpopular Opinion: I do not like green tea. There's something about it that does not settle right in my mouth. I was hesitant to try Gunpowder, but I wanted to go outside of my comfort zone. I am so glad I pushed myself because now, I love green tea. This tea reminds me of Jade Oolong; it tastes a little spinach-y but in the best way possible. This is a great tea if you want to start exploring green tea.
Just the right amount of bitter smokiness without being overpowering! Always great either hot or cold.
I am drinking it daily. Wonderful. One of the best green Teas with competetive pricing.
Smooth smokey flavor that stands well on its own very well. I also like to add a couple spearmint leaves for a little change of pace.
A delicious green. It is light and not bitter. I also use this to brew kombucha, mixed with the Darjeeling and decaf ceylon.
Gunpowder is my favorite green tea. This one from Adagio - the best. It has flavor, taste, and can be extracted up to 4 times.
