Gunpowder Customer Reviews

A classic green tea from Zhejiang province, China. Gunpowder, as the name implies, is made up of leaves hand-rolled into tiny pellets. These resemble gunpowder, and give this tea its distinct name. Full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness.

★★★★☆

I really enjoyed my first Gunpowder brew, but enjoyed it even more when I added half a teaspoon of Vanilla Green.

★★★★★

Excellent gunpowder tea. I additionally bought spearmint to create my own Moroccan Mint tea!

★★★★★

Don't let the price fool you, this is an excellent green tea. Flavorful and smooth. I'll be getting the big bag next time.

very nice green tea, tastes great. I would definitely recommend it

★★★★★

There's a levity here, but also a sweetness that I feel could be accentuated with a bit of honey. Admittedly, I may have screwed up the temperature (I use a Keurig), but I still enjoyed it immensely.

★★★★☆

will taste smokey if steeped for too long, but otherwise delicious

★★★★★

Smooth and satisfying. Nice feel in my mouth after finishing a cup.

★★★★★

very strong. Sometimes it hits the spot, sometimes its a little much. A classic green tea dialed up to 11

★★★★☆

It tasted a bit too mild for my taste at the recommended amount of time and temperature. But maybe it's just me and my palette that is used to bitter teas. I am going to try steeping it for a bit longer next time or perhaps increasing the temperature.

Either way, it was good green tea; but it didn't taste much different than a high quality bagged tea you could find at a health foods grocery store.

Love this un-fussy green teal. First time I'd purchased plain green tea from Adagio (usually I buy a flavored tea); it's just what I was looking for - not grassy and not sweet. Sometimes I add ginger inclusions for a little

★★★☆☆

Not quite what I was looking for. No amount I put it made the tea strong enough - but I like my green tea bitter. If you're looking for an easy to steep green tea that isn't too grassy, I think you'll like this. Smooth flavor

★★★☆☆

I find this a bit subtle for me, prefer a little bit stronger flavor

★★★★☆

This is one of the more potent green teas. Very earthy and even a little bitter. Good with stevia.

★★★★☆

This green tea seems to pack more of a punch for sure, but I am definitely a fan.

★★★★★

This is absolutely one of my favorite green teas. I can be pretty picky when it comes to green teas, but this is one I keep coming back to again and again. It's not fussy, it's not overly grassy, it's not too bitter. Perfection.

★★★★★

Great tea! Unfurls in a beautiful way. Leaves a bit of small residue, but not unpleasantly.

★★★★★

Delicious green tea! One of the best I ve had, and re-steeps beautifully

★★★★☆

The name is funny but it taste pretty good.

★★★★★

One of my favorite green teas. Has a vegetable scent and a slightly smoky, leafy vegetable taste.

This is my 'With dinner tea'. I have this daily with dinner. I enjoy green tea at that time more than the black. I usually get 3 infusions from each pot. Each infusion I increase the steep time by a few minutes. Flavor gets better each time.

For someone who is easily put off by the 'grassy' flavor of green tea, I found this surprisingly pleasant. Aside from the abundance of broken leaf particles settling at the bottom of the cup (which can be solved by using a paper infuser) it's a nice, albeit smoky, alternative to more vegetal or astringent green teas.

★★★★★

Bought this for my dad. It's aromatic and according to him a great tasting tea.

★★★★★

This is a great everyday tea. It is good and affordable. My wife loves it and it is a forgivable tea in the sense that it won't turn bitter if you err a little on steeping time & temperature

★★★★★

This is hands down my favorite green tea. Great on it s own or in blends.

★★★★★

The gunpowder flavor you should expect, probably more flavorful than my the slightly cheaper stuff at my local grocer, but definitely looks nicer. It has more larger rolled leaves than the tiny pellets I would find from my grocer's GP green tea. I guess that it doesn't look as similar to gunpowder as my local grocer's does though. It also cold brews well, 4 tsp in 2qts for 8-12hrs in the fridge, and it turned out pretty nice(plenty of flavor). Will probably buy again.

Good green tea. I love watching teas unfurl as they seep in hot water!

★★★★☆

This was a good tea. It's been a while since I've had green tea so it was a little stronger than I was used to but still had a good flavor.

★★★★★

Something about this tea just makes it one of my favorites.

★★★★★

I've been drinking this for years and it's still is my favorite green tea. It has a mellow, smoky taste.

★★★★☆

Not quite as smokey as I hoped it would be, and it has a subtle fishy taste that I do not quite enjoy.

★★★★★

A great green tea to add to many blends for the extra green tea boost. I like to add to Autumn Mist Green now and then and blend with spearmint.

★★★★☆

This is a great green tea to use as a base for my many flavor combinations. It is smooth and flavorful without being overpowering.

★★★★★

My go to everyday tea. Never bitter, Best with lemon.

★★★★★

This tea is great for when I want a simple, classic cup of green tea. I'd say my favourite green tea is gunpowder - I find it less messy than most loose leaf tea, and it smells and tastes delicious.

★★★★★

I have this every morning. Wakes me up and very refreshing!

★★★★☆

A good everyday tea. nothing spectacular but its very inexpensive and brews fast.

★★★★★

The perfect cup of green tea

I bought this to mix with spearmint for Moroccan mint tea and it was definitely worth the try. Not as complex as other green tea flavors, but a good green option to mix with herbals.

★★★★★

I like to mix this tea with the peppermint I also bought from Adagio. It's a great mix like they suggest and I also brew this tea both western and gong-fu style. The taste is vegetal with a meadow type after taste. A very refreshing tea for sure.

Smoky, green tea flavor. Don’t add too much unless you like it strong.

★★★★★

love the smoky flavor and you don't need a lot of tea to make a hole pot

★★★★☆

One of the better green teas that I've had. It's a very smooth tea, with no harshness at all.

★★★★★

I have green tea with breakfast and gunpowder is one of my choices.
My friends like it also.

★★★★★

Never had gunpowder tea before but it has a great flavor.

★★★★☆

Good everyday green tea. Nothing too special, but tasty and enjoyable nonetheless. This is a good tea to keep plenty of on hand for gatherings or when you want to have something you can drink all day without breaking the bank. I prefer 1.5tsp steeped in 8oz of 175F water for 2min.

The Gunpowder green tea is the best green tea I have ever had and I've been drinking green tea for 15+ years. There is no harshness about this tea in any way. Smooth and tasty. If you are new to green tea, this one is well worth a try.

★★★★★

My favorite green tea! I drink it hot and iced! It even smells delicious before you brew. Definitely a great green tea!

★★★★★

I very nice green tea. Very balanced. Light enough for a hot day but strong enough on a cold morning. It leaves me feeling a little healthier and rejuvenated.
