Woody and earthy with a floral finish, one of the best teas for the price. A bit unforgiving of mistakes, it can turn bitter if not steeped properly.
A basic, traditional Chinese green tea, gunpowder is great as an intro to green tea for entry-level tea drinkers. The cup is defined by light smokiness and mellow flavor.

A solid green tea. There is a hint of smokiness but then the grassiness you get from most green teas comes to round it out. Overall rather pleasant.

This tea is mildly smoky with a slight nutty flavor. It is a full bodied tea and is more robust than a lot of other light greens. Overall, if you re a fan of Chinese green tea this is one of the pinnacles of China s selection (in my mind anyway).
Love it! Steep three times for 2 minutes @ 180. Then add spearmint.
I have been using this tea for several years to make iced tea. LOVE it. I drink 3-4 qts a day and it is my mainstay!

This gunpowder tea was just okay for me although my hubby is a gunpowder fan and he enjoyed.
Though it may smell pungent, this tea steeps fabulously well and improves with the subsequent steep! I drink it plain, though a bit of sugar may not go amiss.
Not a huge fan of gunpowder, there is a very slight smokiness but the flavour just isn t there for me. Beautifully rolled leaves, wish there was more to this tea but it would be a great blending base.

You don't need much to get a strong smokey flavor. Add more than a few leaves and the smokey flavor is all you taste.

I've been looking forward to trying some quality Chinese green, as I'm used to Japanese green. The scent in the bag is what you expect with green tea. The unfurling of the little pellets was fun to watch, and the flavor/scent brewed is strong and earthy. This one would work well in blends with strong black teas
Gunpowder is a green tea. It takes on two minutes to steep. In my experience it may require extra tea for more bold flavor, which I like better. Mostly, with green teas I have liked, I like coffee creamer in them, but Gunpowder is good black with a slight sweetener like Stevia. Gunpowder has a good flavor and is not too strong with the caffeine after five cups and extra loose leaf tea for more bold flavor. Gunpowder has a nice color too and aroma is pleasant. Cost is also appealing to first time buyers. Shipping time is good, tea arrives well packaged and in easy-to-open box with extras. A good buy.

Machine rolled gunpowder tea is also available (and quite common) although not as highly revered. This tea is sometimes called pearl tea or bead tea based on the shape of each tiny tea pellet. This is really, really great cold. It doesn't do anything much for me hot, and it reminds me a lot of the stuff in Arizona teas, etc.
