This is currently my favorite tea. I love the flavor and nuttiness the puffed rice brings to the tea.
Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

This is currently my favorite tea. I love the flavor and nuttiness the puffed rice brings to the tea.
I love this genmai cha!!! It's my favorite green tea at Adagio!
This is really delicious. Nutty and smooth, like the tea I've had at excellent Japanese restaurants. Just one rounded teaspoon, so it will last me a while. This will go on my re-order list, though. I steeped it just a little longer than the recommended 2 minutes. (2.5 not 3.) That strengthened the green without making it bitter. The rice flavor was already there at 2 minutes.
The lightness of green tea and the toastiness of the rice make this my favorite green tea so far!
Lovely mix of savory and the green tea. So nice to find this selection with a great flavor at such a great price.
My wife loves this tea, but the rice gives it too strong of a 'nutty' flavor and odor for my liking.
This has sort of become my new comfort tea. It has a very strong, nutty flavor that I really love. I took a chance and did not order the sampler first, and I'm glad. I'd definitely already be through it by now. This a really tasty tea with a unique flavor I thoroughly enjoy.
My Japanese mother-in-law enjoyed this tea, which she made in a beautiful teapot purchased from Adagio Teas for Christmas. She says it's a healthy tea that make her feel good.
I really enjoyed this tea, even though I have a hard time describing its taste. My brain goes to 'smoky' but that's not really it, but 'roasted' isn't quite it either. In a way, it tastes like popcorn or a rice cake. Not the worst tea ever!
Oh my! I believe this is now my favorite tea. Or at least, this is the best one to drink when I'm not in the mood for something sweetened or flavored. The toasty nutty flavor is so comforting and smooth.
Love the smooth nutty flavor of this tea. Perfect to warm the soul on a cold winter night.
This tea is very interesting has a green tea taste but the aroma is very earthy, slightly popcorn, and rice, but very pleasant not overwhelming.
I got this because I love a toasted rice tea made by someone else, and I'm mostly pleased. The toasted flavor is more delicate and the 'green tea' flavor is more pronounced, here. Not quite what I was looking for, but not bad, either.
Very soft and mellow leaves pairs wonderfully with the roasted nutty flavour.
This is one of the most interesting tasting teas I've ever had. The green tea is a great base for the nutty taste of the rice and every sip goes through stages of different flavors that somehow come together perfectly. One of my favorites!
I am honestly not sure what I think of this. I tried it, and I can't figure out if I kind of like it or if I hate it? I'm not sure if it'll grow on me or not. It's strange to me.
Solid genmai cha, though the rice notes could be a little stronger. Otherwise, a dependable green tea.
Tastes heavily of toasted rice, as I suppose it would. Not one I would have every day, but ok for once in a while.
This tea is excellent. The flavor is absolutely unforgettable. The puffed rice flavor is very unique and as such leaves you wanting more. I haven't had this in years until finding it from Adagio and I am very happy to have made this purchase. Highly recommended.
My girlfriend doesn't like this, but I love it. Roasty, toasty, and lovely green tea character. Great for mornings. Based on experience, go heavy on your leaves or double up for the best green tea flavor.
I love genmai cha tea! It has a wonderful aroma that I find to be calming before I even take a sip. It is not earthy like pure green teas, but rather it has a light, smooth, creamy taste and texture.
We started drinking Genmai cha after visiting an oriental market in Tucson, since then we have been hooked and unable to find anything comparable. We have tried many different types from many different vendors, this is by far the best.
Nice toasted green tea flavor with interesting toasted rice notes.
A wonderful evening tea - mild with a touch of toasted flavor.
One of my favorite Adagio teas and by far the best genmai chai I've had. The toasted flavor balances well with the green tea and makes for a great winter drink.
I like the nuttiness of this tea and it reminds me of the time I lived in Tokyo.
I've had this tea several times before, but clearly I have never had GOOD genmai cha before. The nutty, popcorny, grassy tastes are all very crisp and clear, really nice. This tea isn't for everyone, but if you think you like genmai cha, try this one!
I've had several genmaicha teas in my life, and while this wasn't my favorite, it still tastes great. This is a bolder genmaicha, with stronger nutty and grassy tones.
This is my favorite tea. The rice gives it a flavor and smell I can only describe as 'warm'.
Beware you don't want to over steep this tea. It is good, but follow the direction exactly. Too much tea, or too long steeping and it will taste burnt. It took a couple of tries to get it right. We don't drink this one often, possibly due to the the failed first cups.
Not really my kind of tea, but it smells wonderful!
Great tea! I realized how much I love genmaicha and now I am on a mission to try it from every brand that I use, lol. Adagio's is really good and I will definitely be reordering it. It's been out of stock for awhile so I hope they have it soon. This is a staple in my tea stash. BTW, I find that this is great to keep me satisfied between meals, it's a savory tea so I can drink it in place of having extra snacks. I really love it! And I can get 2 steeps from it. It's easy to overbrew, the first steep just brew for 1-2 minutes, the second brew for longer maybe 3 or 4.
This tea was AWFUL! It smells like a skunk and it tastes like what you would imagine a skunk would taste like. I see no reason why there should be popcorn in a tea. Just awful. Please do not order this, I feel bad for the actual Green tea leaves in this tea.
This Genmai-cha is divine. It truly complements itself. The rice is not starchy-flavored, and it combines very well with fine green tea notes. The tea flavor is not grassy and bright, but refined and subtly there. There is not much aromatic note- but this is okay by me as it means you must simply try it and experience it rather than listen to your nose. Truly a delicious flavor.
My daughters and I really enjoy the nutty, crispy pop of the pop corn and crisped rice. Complex flavor but not too bold. Great for relaxing with a good book.
I have always been a fan of genmaicha, but I know several people who don't really care for the nutty flavor imparted by the roasted brown rice. That being said, if you are willing to try something new, Adagio makes a fantastic genmaicha
While I am not usually a fan of green tea, I love this one! The warm, toasty flavor of the rice and the mellow green tea make a smooth cup perfect for a cool afternoon.
Although it is a nice, mild tea, I think it could use more tea leaves in the blend.
Green tea, rice, and popcorn. What more could you want?
Wife's Favorite at breakfast. Love's the aroma and flavor.
My first time trying genmai cha and it is like drinking popcorn (in the best way possible). For that reason, this is now my official movie night tea. No additives necessary, straight from the cup.
Mild, nutty, and delicous. The perfect genmai cha.
nice and nutty but not overwhelmingly so, would buy again
Lovely savory flavour and scent that is expected from Genmai Cha. Not as strong of flavour as the one I get at my local sushi place. Small kernels and leaves (that unfurl surprisingly). This tea has a taste that some do not like at all, but I personally love it (and I'm not a green tea lover). Definitely a unique flavour profile.
This is my all time favorite tea! Smooth, nutty flavor.
love this tea it is so good that it is almost always out of stock.
Excellent! Perfect hot or iced. The green tea is very well balanced, and the ratio of tea to rice is perfect.
A little under powered for my taste and the green tea portion was kinda bland
This is my favorite tea, it is very hard to find, but thankfully Adagio has it :) I just love the rich flavor that rice gives this tea.
Lovely. One tsp brews 3 times with the first cup being every so slightly bitter, the second perfectly mild for my taste, and the third is fantastic iced. Slightly nutty with a nice strong green tea flavor. Perfect for meals.
