It has such a unique flavor. It almost has the same flavor of rice cakes which I like.
Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

It has such a unique flavor. It almost has the same flavor of rice cakes which I like.
I have been trying to like green tea, because I've read so much about the health benefits. Unfortunately, most of it just tastes grassy to me. A coworker suggested that I try genmai cha, and gave me some that he had ordered from Adagio. I've since ordered a sample and now a larger size for myself. The toasty notes make this a welcome change from most green teas. I also don't find it bitter if I accidentally over-steep the tea.
Really delicious cup. As it's steeping all you can smell is a rice cake aroma. It's taste reflects its smell. First you get the rice cake flavor with a mild grassy aftertaste. Smooth and flavorful . One of my new favorite greens.
A great unique cup of tea. I love the nutty flavor. One of my best green teas I have ever had. I will always be keeping this in my kitchen!
Nice nutty flavor that was balanced well with the green tea.
Genmaicha is one of my favorite teas of all time, and Adagio's version does not disappoint. It also holds the distinction of being the first tea I ever bought with 'subscribe and save.'
I had tried a variation of this tea at a friends house, and instantly fell in love. The Adagio version does not disappoint!
This did not have as much of the flavor I was hoping for in my favorite genmai.
This is one of my favorites. I don't know whether it's because better quality leaves are used or the leaves are fresher than what's normally found on store shelves, but if you like genmai cha, you'll like this. If you're interested in trying some Japanese teas, then give this one a try.
My favorite green tea along with Hojicha. Highly recommend.
absolutely love it!!!
I love this genmai cha with a touch of German rock sugar. Very easily one of the best I have tried. I already prefer it to the one I bought while in China. I will definitely be ordering more.
It was ok, a little bitter for my taste...
I really like the popped rice in this tea it pairs well with the green tea.
I liked the smell of this tea, but I have found that it makes me very sick to my stomach every time I drink it. I tried making it weaker, but unfortunately had the same result.
I have not ordered this in a few years. This is a hollow shadow of what I remembered. Large, expressive popped rice kernels that you smelled immediately when opening the container. This time I had to bury my nose in the package, then try again with my eye's closed to 'remember' the smell. Without the popped rice character, it's just a pedestrian green tea
One of my top 3 favorites!!! I have searched far and wide for THIS flavor tea!!!
For sure on my reorder list!!!
Has quickly become a favorite around the house. I assume due to the rice, this one is only good for one infusion. The toastiness of the rice is a great offset to the grassiness of this particular green tea.
typical of its type. if you know you like genmai cha, you won't be surprised.
It had been a while since I had my last cup of genmai cha - I just brewed my recent shipment and it did not disappoint! It's a fairly straightforward tea: lovely earthy tones and a really rich nutty taste.
I hate to admit, but it is not as good as Teavana's version. Probably because that other place uses Gyokura. Still, for the price it is a very good buy.
Had a brown rice tea many years ago and have always looked for it. This is as good or better than I remember and very reasonably priced!
I can't fathom how anyone could drink this. I couldn't even finish the first cup I made. It literally tastes like you're drinking a bowl of rice with no tea flavor involved. Absolutely painful.
A favorite tea. I love the nutty flavor the rice gives.
Love this yummy, toasty tea!! I have tried several genmai cha and hands down Adagio does it best!
I love genmai cha because of its nutty aroma and flavor. This tea lives up to my expectations!
Nice nutty flavor. A very fragrant tea! Will definitely reorder!
I really like this tea. It has a very mild flavor initially but you get a lot of the toasty flavors in the after taste and as you exhale through your nose. It doesn't seem to get bitter if steeped for longer so it's safe to get a slightly stronger flavor by simply leaving the tea in the water.
A nice genmaicha. Not sure if I'll order more when this runs out, because it is more expensive than some of the other greens.
I love the nutty, roasted flavor of Genmaicha. Adagio's tea is a good example and holds up for at least 3 brewings.
Our local Japanese restaurant serves Genmaicha. It's great to enjoy it at home with the same quality taste.
Love this tea. Had previously gotten some sample tea bags and finally bought a larger bag. Such a unique but delicious flavor
I love this--my every-morning tea! It always feels like a very clean way to start the day.
Genmai Cha! Literally one of the most awesome teas ever invented! Rice is my favorite food, and tea is an amazing drink! This rice tea is by far one of my favorites! Adagio's version is the best I have tried!
I love popcorn. I love toasted nuts. Apparently do not like it as a tea.
One of my favorite teas. I can drink this one all the time. It has a popcorn like flavor with a nutty taste. It's robust without being strong. Use less than a teaspoon (about 3/4) and steep less time.
I found a recipe to make this particular tea into a soup broth. It goes will with salmon over rice after a long steep.
Tastes a lot like what I would imagine peanut tea would be, if there is such a thing. Seems like it would go very well with a chocolate desert as an alternative to espresso after dinner.
Love the smell! It had been ages since I had this tea. The taste is balanced and has a good nutty taste that I expect from genmaicha. I'll gladly make this tea a regular in my inventory. Can't wait to enjoy it during the summer. I think it'll be perfect for early summer mornings when there is still coolness in the air.
Love this tea! One of my favorites. Nice smooth tea. Very comforting and warming on a chilly day:)
nutty warm wonderful. great cold weather tea. love it!
This is different from some of the other teas, particularly because of the obvious fact that there's rice in here. If you've never had it before, it's definitely worth a try to see if you like teas like this. I don't think it's for everyone, but if you like a lighter tea, this might be one for you.
It both smells and tastes burnt. Don't like this one at all.
I first had this style of tea at a Japanese restaurant. I went home and looked on Adagio and found it and ordered it. It is a favorite! It is excellent: bright and grassy balanced with the toasted nuttiness of the popped rice. It smells amazing and tastes fantastic. I have tried it iced as well, and it is quite good, although I prefer it hot.
One of my favorites offered by Adagio. This has become a staple in my tea collection.
On point. If you like toasted flavors do your self a favor and try some genmai cha.
First time I had this type of tea - so glad my friend recommended it! It has a great light flavor that's perfect and relaxing!
We love this puffed rice and slightly smoky green. It is definitely one of our favorites, and is quite close to a tea we purchased while in Japan.
I am obsessed with genmai cha tea. The flavor is woodsy and warm and perfect for the winter months. I'm generally not a huge fan of green teas because I find them to be somewhat bitter, but this one changed my mind! It is such a nice balance of bitter green with earthy rice overtones. I like to drink this at night before going to bed. even though it has some caffeine, I find the scent to be comforting and perfect for winding down the day.
My favourite green tea, period. Really smokey and earthy
