Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

Toasty flavor is wonderful, perfect tea for a cool day
This green tea tastes like it has popped rice in it. It is much better than other genmai cha teas I have tried.
Enjoyed the toasted flavor greatly. First time trying it, but not the last.
One of my all time favorite teas! The rice incorporated in the green tea gives a nice nutty quality to it without diminishing the flavor of the green tea. Absolutely great hot or cold.
I liked this a whole lot more than I expected. You can really decide how to make your cup, steeping longer at lower temperatures for a stronger green tea flavor, and steeping about a minute at higher temperatures for a toastier flavor. Amazing!
Maybe my new favorite tea. I love the buttery flavor the puffed rice adds. It's a unique blend that I highly recommend.
LOVE this tea! I'm trying to drink more green but I do not enjoy tannin acidity, especially with some green teas. This is a wonderful tea if steeped at a lower temp (170 or 30 seconds off a boil) for 2-3 min max. It is soft, toasty, creamy and mellow with a slight green aftertaste. I have just had two teapots and am wanting a third. I can't get enough!
This genmai cha is much lighter-bodied than what I'm used to. It's not bad though. has little bitterness and okay flavor.
This is my husbands all time favorite tea. Delicious
I brew a cup of this genmai cha and feel like I am in Japan again. I love this fragrant green tea and now I have found it again. This is the tea I can drink even right before bed time. It actually soothes me and won't keep me awake.
So savory. Amazing with a bowl of undressed popcorn.
I compared Adagio and Teavana versions of Genamicha. I like them both in different ways but you can't beat the Adagio price on this.
I think this is a good green tea and it's a unique flavor, it tasted and smelled like toasted sesame seeds.
I've had this tea before but this is my first time reviewing it. Let me just say, this is my absolute most favorite tea of all time!
I lived in Japan and this genmai cha reminds me of my time there. It's perfect!
I am not a big fan of this tea. The rice gave it a strange almost burnt taste.
Exactly wheat I was hoping for. The rice adds a wonderful nutty flavor and adds volume to keep the tea from tasting bitter. One of the most addicting green teas i've ever had.
My first foray into green tea, and this is really great. I don't have the palate that others do yet, but I still found this one quite good. Will definitely be ordering more.
That's the last straw. Nobody sprinkles tea in my package of rice!
good tea, but not enough vegetal flavor. This tea falls a little flat in comparison to others I've tried.
The description makes it sound a bit weird, but this tea rocks.
An excellent tea - hearty aroma, good roasted flavor with a light mouth-feel. Easily recommended.
This was absolutely delicious. I loved the warm, toasted flavor.
Other reviews made me curious about this earthy tea, and I had to try it. I can see how some tea buffs might enjoy it for its complexity, but it was far too complex for me. It was fun to try - but I'll move on now.
Absolutely love this tea, very nostalgic flavor!!!
Extremely unusual tea, but pleasantly so. Very, very nutty, and I did get the similarity to popcorn (though this is better). It's nicely savory and feels kinda like a meal on its own. I only wish that we could include this one in blends!
Yum yum yummy! The tea and the roasted flavors are perfectly balanced, in my opinion. It's definitely not a customary taste when you're expecting 'tea,' it's very savory. I can see myself drinking this to keep from snacking in the evenings.
Maybe I just don't like this kind of tea, but this one didn't do a lot for me. I probably won't be getting it again.
I wanted to open myself up to more green and black teas lately, so I just kind of filled my cart up. This one seemed really interesting because of the popped/puffed rice grains, so I figured 'Eh, why not?' I'm really glad I went for this one. I wasn't sure what to expect, but most reviews seemed positive. I always have to brew green teas a bit stronger than the recommendation (For this, I did 2tsp for 1.5 cups) because most greens tend to seem weak for me. Without adding anything, it seemed tasteless. I added 1/4 tsp sugar (I wish I had honey...) and that little bit really brought out the flavor. It's definitely got a green tea taste, but the toasted/popped rice adds more of a biscuit-like taste to it, which is actually really good. I'm definitely going to order this one again and recommend it.
This is my favorite genmai cha, and I'm a genmai cha lover. I will say for people who haven't tried genmai cha, that it doesn't have really any re-steep value, so the supply goes shorter than most leaves.
I was surprised the first sip I was not sure but I found myself really enjoying it and had a second cup. You can taste a Hint of the Popped rice
Great tea with a lot of toasted popped rice. One of the best Genmaicha teas I have had.
One of my 'go to-s'. Never a bad experience with this.
One of my favorite teas here! The green tea isn't too grassy and it is hit with a lovely toasted flavor from the puffed rice. Just make sure you brew at the right temp and time so it wont turn bitter. This is an anytime tea for me.
This is my favorite tea! It tastes a bit like green tea and popcorn!
My favorite green! So delicious.
So, this was an interesting one. The idea of putting rice in tea was a little strange, but I thought it would be worth a shot. I'm glad I gave it a chance! It's a stout green tea with an odd aroma that somehow manages to be pleasing. It tastes great and is actually kinda filling!
This tea was exactly was I was looking for. The rice taste comes through nicely.
This is a tea that I truly enjoy. Not something I drink every day but at least once a week. One of the best i've had.
very interesting texture, very light green tea taste
Tastes exactly like you would think after reading the description. The smell of pooped rice is extremely pungent and not my favorite but it tastes good and is a good filler between meals. The popped rice taste overpowers the green tea so if you are not accustom to the strong green tea flavor, this is a good place to start. Easy to over brew so stick to the 2 minute recommendation.
This one is super delicious in the morning when you don't want food, but you want something sort of savory and filling.
love most all chi tea it has a really great flavor will order this again also
Another favorite found. This tea actually smells as great as it tastes.
In comparison to David's tea, Adagio's genmaicha blend uses a higher quality green tea base, as well as slightly larger kernels of toasted rice. The flavor is far more complex, with vegetal, oceanic notes that are tempered with the roasted, toasty flavor of the 'popcorn' bits. Although Adagio's version is my preference, some might find it too bold in comparison to David's less intense genmaicha recipe.
Once again I get that really great taste of the toasted rice mixed with the vegetal taste of the green tea. I don't get a specific veggie jumping out at me. Which makes me a little sad because spinach is my jam. There is the hint of a grassy flavor on the finish, but only a hint. I'm not saying it isn't a good cup of tea. Just that I taste more of the toasted rice and less of the tea.
This tea was not too bad it seems like a tea to drink in the winter to me. My first few sips I really enjoyed but as it cooled off some it lost it. I do not like the smell and much like the flavor as it cools off the smell becomes stronger and I can not drink it.
This is my goto tea for everyday drinking. Great on a cool morning or to drink while busy at work. The roasted rice really adds to the flavor of the tea.
I really, really wanted to like this tea. I'd had it recommended several times. Unfortunately, I just didn't. It was way too grassy, and the popped rice added a flavor I just didn't like at all. I managed to finish the cup, which is the only reason this didn't earn an 'awful.'
I am currently in love with this tea. Some people said it smelled like rice cereal, and I didn't believe them...but oh man does it. That threw me off for a second, but once I actually drank it, it was a different story. It's a very soothing tea, with a lovely nutty and grassy taste. I've looked at ordering this for ages, and am so glad I finally did. A lovely addition to my small but growing green tea selection.
