My favorite tea! I'have been drinking it every morning for the last three years. Great nutty flavor.
Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

My favorite tea! I'have been drinking it every morning for the last three years. Great nutty flavor.
This is something I have been wanting to try for a long time. The leaves look about half tea, half rice, and that s exactly the flavour that comes across
This is a very nutty green flavor, my wife likes it far more than I do, as it's her favorite go to tea. If you want to try something different in green teas, I really suggest trying a sample of this. Don't oversteep it or use boiling water! It's far too bitter and burnt tasting.
I love smokey or nutty teas and the promise of a nutty flavor drew me to purchase a sample of this tea. I have to say it's extremely nutty and definitely not for someone who is expecting a light flavor. I like this tea by itself, as it tends to overpower at a meal.
Perfect afternoon tea, the toasted rice flavor offers a unique taste.
This tea is so calming. It is nutty and green. What a wonderful cup of tea!
You ever gone to mcdonalds and got 12 nuggets in a 10 piece? Thats what this tea is like. Yummm
It s crazy how popcorn-like the toasted rice is, but I mean that in the best way imaginable. It s light but nice and toasty without needing sugar.
Toasty flavor that tastes strongly of rice despite being mixed with green tea
Love the toasted flavor of genmai! Great tea, relaxing way to keep going in the afternoon.
I have tasted Genmai Cha before and was not a fan. I bought this for a tea gathering because a friend liked it. I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked this one. The Toasted rice is not too over powering and complements the green tea it is with. The tea is very fine and you cannot use a mesh infuser easily.
One of my winter favorites. This is a warm, inviting tea, with a subtle soothing green tea/toasted rice flavor.
A really lovely tea. The taste is reminiscent of puffed rice cereal. Love it!
So this is an interesting tea. It smells like burnt popcorn and has a subtle taste of it too, but it isn t bad like burnt popcorn normally is. It isn t amazing but not bad. Worth a try.
This is a good genmai. It has a bit more parchment notes rather than toasty notes, but still very good. I will reorder it.
Toasty, warm, and nutty, like a good genmai cha should be. The green tea leaves are rather strong though, and it's particularly temperamental to oversteeping.
One of my favorite green teas by a wide margin! Rich, nutty flavor that I feel like I could never get tired of.
Love this... it's warm and toasty and a bit nutty. I drink green tea a lot, so I try to switch it up as much as I can so I don't get bored. It's a really unique way to drink green tea, if you like it but want something different.
Warm and nutty and fresh at the same time, awesome!
While it was originally for stretching supplies, it actually has a great taste. No wonder it is so popular.
I love the toasted rice flavor. I often have a hard time choosing between this and Hojicha when I decide to go green for breakfast. Hojicha usually wins, which is why this sometimes ends up being my 2nd breakfast tea, when it sometimes wins against Wenshan Mist. It all depends on what food I'm having for breakfast, as to who the victor is in both matches. It is a hearty tea indeed, and good paired with oats or other porridge, but also good with bush style 'stick to your ribs' breakfasts like ham and beans with eggs. I rarely cream my greens, but I found that this matches with cream better than most greens. I'm a little disappointed for not buying a pound of this. I will have to correct this error with my next order.
This is a classic tea that smells as good as it tastes. Can't go wrong with this tea.
The toasted rice flavor was a bit overpowering, but it was an interesting combination of flavors.
Very unique, tastes kind of like burnt rice (I guess that's to be expected), but in a weird way it is really good. Would recommend
Genmaicha tends to be a tea that people love or they hate. It leans savory, which casual tea drinkers don't always love. Personally, I found this to be borderline odd my first time drinking it, but over time it grew to be incredibly endearing to have my rice-y beverage! I baby these delicate japanese leaves with a very low steep temperature and time, and I recommend everyone else try it the same way. You'll find a lot more delicate nuances and get better resteepability. Even if you love sweet tea (I do!) I recommend this without. Hot or iced, it's such a unique (and yet, truly traditional) cup of tea that's such a gift for an advanced tea palate. My one criticism is the popcorn addition; I know it's a unique adagio trait but I prefer it strictly traditional.
GenMai Cha is a green tea I much prefer to plain green tea. I like the nuttiness of the toasted grain that offsets the grassy notes of the green tea. This blend gives a more of a green tea flavor with a lower level of nuttiness compared to other Genmai Chas I've tasted. I am a fan.
I love the dry toasty-ness of this tea. It has a fairly mild green tea taste, so might be a good introduction to the world of green teas.
The toasty flavor is really delicious. It has become my favorite!
This tea has a rich roasted rice flavour and a nutty scent, which is really comforting. It definitely can't be brewed too long, I think usually above 3 minutes is a no-no, because it gets this kind of burnt flavour, like burnt corn or rice. I'll definitley get this again.
Tasted exactly like its description. Like popped rice. Very delicious
I used to order this tea all the time - then went on a coffee kick - and I'm back to tea now. I had honestly forgotten how completely lovely this tea is to drink. If I was to base my decision on the smell of the unbrewed tea, I've never have tried it. However, when brewed correctly, this tea is warm, toasty, comforting, and fresh tasting. Brew this tea too long, and the toasty taste turns to burnt popcorn.
Very strong rice cracker flavor. Would make a great oochazuke.
Delicious green tea, lovely toasted flavor from the rice.
One of my favorite green teas, simple and down to earth with a slight nutty flavor to it.
This was a fairly decent cup. Definitely nutty and savory, more like a light broth than a tea. I enjoyed it for what it was, and will likely have it again when I'm in the mood for it, but probably not often.
Nice with lunch (especially spicy food) distinctive flavor ... Japanese restaurant tea
It tastes a bit like popcorn, and although that might sound weird, it is worth a try. I fell in love with this tea from Adagio about 10 years ago and still love it.
One of my favorite! I love the taste of the wheat/rice with tea.
This is one of the greens I drink most often. This particular one is good but not fantastic.
My new favorite. The toasted rice added an umami that kept me satisfied throughout the day
This tastes exactly like puffed rice cereal. I really wasn t sure about this tea, but I m pleasantly surprised that it s one of the best teas I ve sample here so far.
The least grassy Genmai I've had so far. Very balanced. Perfect amount of that nutty, toasted flavor.
One of my favorite green teas. Different than most green teas that you see.
I love the aroma as it brews and appreciate the mild nutty taste with the green tea.
Lovely! Light, crisp and pleasant nutty taste from the toasted rice.
This tea had a very interesting toasty flavor. The recommended steep time was very low but I'm glad I listened as it seems that oversteeping would be a bad idea.
A wonderful afternoon tea... I find it strangely addictive!
It tastes like delicious rice cereal! I really enjoy this tea straight .
I had searched far and wide to find this tea and then stumbled upon it while on a trip in Chicago. This tea is super earthy and kind of reminds me of broth. I typically get it at a local coffee shop in Iowa City. Very tasty! Although I feel like my bag of tea does have too much brown rice in comparison to the actual tea. I also typically like very strong tea so I steep mine for extra time. But overall I really enjoy it.
This is one of those unfortunate circumstances in which the first time I tried Genmai Cha it was very high quality, so any cheaper varieties are bound to be a little disappointing. This really isn't bad, but I'm used to the toasted rice flavor being a little more well-rounded. It tastes very much like drinking plain popcorn, more so than I'm used to, but that's not necessarily unpleasant. The green tea flavor doesn't really come through.
