Very strong scent of toasted corn, but enjoyed the flavor.

I read the reviews on this one before giving my opinion. It seems quite a few people are big fans of this tea. I am not one of them. I smelled the tea when I opened the pouch and thought it smelled terrible. Then brewed a cup for my husband and myself. We took several drinks but did not finish the cup. We thought it was terrible. Tasted like burnt food. So not desirable in a cup of tea.

I came looking for the tea i drink at our favorite sushi restaurant. After some research i figured out the name, found it here and was blown away by how good it is.

★★★★★

I really like this green tea. It is very unique. A nice cup of tea to have on a rainy day.

★★★★★

I love this tea! The kernels provide a unique earthiness/toasty flavor to the tea. It's a lot of fun!

★★★★★

I love the body, the comfy richness the toasted rice adds to this green tea. Definitely worth having as a go to on the shelf.

★★★☆☆

I'm not sure why but the green tea ends up being a bit too astringent for me and outbalances the toasted rice, even for short steeping times.

★★★★★

Delightful but delicate flavor of toasted rice in green tea.

If relaxation had a scent, it would smell like this tea. It s has a beautiful light green fragrance highlighted by rich toasted rice and warm buttery popcorn. The flavor is lightly green and malty, very pleasant and savory. There s no bitterness and the second brewing is almost as nice.

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite green teas. It's got a really unique flavor, even other brands of Genmaicha tend to be missing some of the flavor that this kind has.

★★★★★

This tea really surprised me. It's very savory and almost bready tasting, which I'd never had before in a tea, but I really like this one. The green tea flavor isn't especially strong, but I definitely reccomend that everyone try it out for something a little different.

Not a terribly strong tea--I prefer my genmai to be a little more toasted and a stronger flavor of the green tea. Even with a long steeping time this was very subtle. Good for a starter though I think!

★★★★★

This is by far my favorite green tea. Very nice, roasted flavors from the rice accent the nicely flavored green tea.

★★★★★

Delicious!~ (The tilde there was actually accidental but we re keeping it now.) Toasty flavor, smells kinda like popcorn. If you haven t tried genmaicha, try it, even if you typically aren t huge on green teas.

★★★★☆

One of my absolute favorites. It does well for multiple uses although admittedly I do tend to like a weaker tea.

★★★★☆

This tea completely tasted how I thought it would! It had the nice toasted rice flavor, but I could also taste the green tea. What a wonderful pair!

★★★★☆

I love a good Genmai Cha. It s got such a unique buttery and savoury favour to it. I have to be in a certain mood for it though. Due to its very specific taste, I prefer to enjoy it on its own, or maybe with fruit.

★★★★★

TASTY! The rice gives it that umami flavor I've tasted before at Japanese restaurants without knowing what it was. Perfect for when I'm craving something savory without any calories.

★★★★★

A favorite, with the roasted, popped rice flavor!

★★★★★

So delicious! The toasted rice compliments the green tea very well, while not overpowering.

It is a good tea. I mix with a machta/sencha blend to make a tasty copy cat tea from a favorite sushi restaurant.

★★★★★

One of my favorite adagio teas - and en excellent, reasonably priced entry-level green to serve guests.

Not my favorite Genmai Cha ever, but pretty darn tasty. Be careful not to oversteep, it can get bitter quickly.

This is my favorite Adagio tea by far! I was delighted to discover this tea on Adagio as I'd been searching for it for a while. This is my Go-To tea for my boyfriend and I and you can steep this tea more then once. The trick is a short steep time for your first cup/pot, and a longer steep time for the 2nd/3rd steeps. This tea taste great with any meal and taste good even if you steep it too long on accident ;)

Tips to make your tea last longer:
When steeping a pot of tea, steep the tea for the recommended time. Pour a cup for you and a friend. Now add the rest of your boiled water to the teapot to top it off again. Let this steep longer and you'll have more tea to enjoy.

If you have the adagio cup strainer, as soon as you strain your tea into the cup, pour boiling water in again. By the time you finish your first cup a 2nd cup will already be steeped and waiting for you ;)

If you want to try a new tea, I highly recommend Genmai Cha!

This is a nice tea if you re hungry or craving something savory.

Ok, I cannot get over the fact that all I can think of when brewing this tea and drinking it is popcorn. Its not bad just so unexpected.

★★★★★

I relish the nutty taste of this tea! I usually add a few drops of stevia liquid to bring out the sweetness of the popped barley.

I actually really enjoy this tea. The toastiness of the rice comes out strong, both in flavor and aroma. It actually really reminded me of honey smacks cereal! I used to love that cereal as a kid. That may not be a plus for everyone else, but for me it was. It's pleasant and familiar, silly as it may be. I'll definitely be buying it again.

★★★★★

This tea is one of my favorites! If you are in the mood for an earthy, calming, satisfying taste then this is the perfect selection.

Absolutely delicious tea! The popped rice creates a great, toasty flavor with a popcorn-like vibe. It s such a unique green tea, my husband and I love it!

This green tea has a light nutty taste to it and pairs well with butterfingers candies

★★★★★

I first tried this tea after receiving a free sample with my first order. I thought it seemed very strange, but gave it a try anyway. I absolutely love this tea. It is my go-to green. The popcorn and brown rice give it a toasty flavor that is so delicious.

★★★★★

An enjoyable, very simple cup of tea. If you've ever snacked on plain rice cakes and a warm cup of green tea, that's pretty much what it tastes like. It's not a fancy stop on the road to flavor town, but it isn't supposed to be -- it's more the cozy Mom & Pop place down the street, so to speak. Nice on bitterly cold days or if you're feeling under the weather, e.g. colds & stomachaches. I was able to get 2 steepings before I fell asleep and had to toss the leaves in the morning. I'll definitely be ordering this one again.

★★★★★

Fantastic. Be sure not to use water that is too hot and play around with your steeping time. I have over done it a couple times and it brings out some bitterness. When you find the right time and temperature it is a perfect bowl of soul.

★★★★★

I love this tea! It goes so well with food, it makes everything taste better!

★★★★★

The roasted rice adds a nice flavor to the tea. But definitely follow brew instructions

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite teas! It has a subtle nutty flavor that I love with the green tea. Amazing!

★★★★★

This green tea is wonderful and pairs especially well with Asian cuisine.

★★★★★

This stuff is amazing. I'm a big fan of green teas and kinda burn out easily because green 'can' be dull at times. Spicing it up by adding popcorn was a great idea. The flavor smells just like popcorn and only filter our 1/2 the mix because I like to eat the cooked leaves and corn at the end of the cup like a treat!

★★★★★

A wonderful nutty flavor - very soothing and satisfying when I'm in the mood for a less sweet tea.

★★★★☆

I first enjoyed genmai cha at a local Japanese restaurant. Adagio's version is even better - the toasted rice flavor is deeper. This helps settle my tummy after a big meal.

★★★★★

I m really enjoying this tea! I like how it kinda smells like popcorn. That said, the flavours are really subtle and it s a really fun twist from a regular green tea.

★★☆☆☆

Not for me. The rice is very potent and I just wasn't crazy about it. Had the taste in my mouth all day

★★★★★

Very good! I would prefer a little more tea to rice, but still very tasty.

★★★★★

Always a favorite in our house. Have been ordering th u s,wonderful tea from Adagio for many years and love the quality of the tea.

★★★★★

The perfect cup of tea with breakfast. Genmai Cha with eggs and sausage ... yum!

★★★★★

Genmai Cha is one of my favorite types of tea already, so I wasn't expecting to dislike Adagio's version of it. Still, I found it quite solid: a quality green tea with the expected toasty flavor of the rice. Definitely going on my list to order in a larger size.

★★★★★

This tea is amazing. Hot, this tea is comforting with subtle hints of the puffed brown rice. The rice gives the tea some real substance and allows for a little to go along way.

This is the typical Genmai Cha as I know it. I like the flavor of roasted grains and I would order it again.
