I loved this unique tea, found it to smell exactly like popcorn, and enjoyed drinking it. Your mileage may vary - my partner did not care for it at all.

★★★★★

My favorite tea to have with friends in the afternoon. Great nutty flavor with a little sugar.

★★★★★

I was not impressed when I opened the pack, as it smelled like grass clippings. After steeping, I tasted it and was surprised how smooth and NOT bitter/grassy it was. It had a very pleasant, nutty smell and after adding just even a little honey, it was AMAZING down to the bottom of the cup. It reminded me of Honey Smacks cereal, but less sugary. I kept smelling it over and over. Would definitely buy again!!

*I generally make all of my coffee/tea very strong. I use double the recommended amount (in the case of tea, I use 2 tsp per cup instead of one), if the tea is floral/fruity I use honey, if not, I do add a bit of cream and sugar

EDIT: This is officially my favorite green tea. Definitely buying again.

This is a tasty and drinkable green tea. It tastes toasty and not at all bitter.

We went into the shop looking for the tea that our local sushi places uses. They were able to point us right to this one. It s fantastic!

★★★★★

A good quality Genmai Cha, good balance of brown rice to sencha.

I used to be very 'meh' about this tea, but now it's one of my favorites. It took a while, but I realized that it's one of the most sensitive teas I've ever had. If the temp is too high or if you steep for any longer than two minutes, then it gets off REAL fast. If I steep it for exactly two minutes at roughly 180 (as recommended), then it's the perfect cup of tea.

I love green tea, but I sometimes wish it wasn't quite so light and floral. This tea adds a really beautiful note of toasty nuttiness to an otherwise fine green tea.

Really awesome tea, just be careful with your steeping...

I can see why people would like this one, but it just wasn t for me. Personally, it didn t have much tea flavor(on account of it being a poor man s blend) and the rice flavor was a bit bland. It is a nice dinner tea, but I have several others that are more flavorful that are also dinner teas. I likely won t be buying this one again.

I was worried about the rice to tea leaf ratio in what I had ordered, seemed like it would just be too toasty flavored and not enough tea. Could not have been more wrong.

I have to be in the mood for this tea, but when I am, its a go too. It tastes a little like popcorn. If you are having food cravings, this tea might help you beat them.

★★★★★

Very good, basic genmaicha. I highly recommend for a daily tea.

I really enjoyed this tea. It has a nice toasted scent that reminds me of cereal.

★★★★★

I love this genmaicha - very grassy flavor, and it grows on you quickly. I first bought a sample, and bought a larger bag before I even finished the sample.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. Each sip is both hearty and refreshing.

A brand new acquisition for me and a new sensation on the tongue. The mild flavor of rice is a lovely edition and gives this tea an satisfyingly new experience. To me this taste is such a rich sensation it could easily replace an occasional meal.

★★★★☆

Really a fun tea. The popped corn and rice truly make it different and tasty as well! A good one with food or to offer guests that don't usually like tea.

Probably my favorite green tea! It has a very subtle nutty taste to it.

I think 2 min to steep is WAY too long, as the tea was bitter. ONE minute was much much better, still with the desired flavors. My Japanese friend who introduced me to this tea is adamant to only steep it 30 seconds, and it was wonderful! I don not know the brand she used , however.

Very tasty, classic Genmai Cha. Light and fresh. Great iced

Genmaicha is one of my favorite green teas. Adagio's isn't the best I've had but it's hard to go wrong with this tea and it still definitely does the job. This one has a stronger grassy flavor and the rice does not come through as strongly as my preferred genmaicha does.

I'm seriously into genmaicha. It was one of the first legit loose leaf teas I was introduced to by a friend, and it's stuck with me since. That said, Adagio's genmaicha is a rock-solid offering. I think I need to steep for less time since I keep getting a touch more astringency than I prefer, but as I said that's more likely than not my steeping skills at fault.

UPDATE: I'm completely to blame for the too-strong tea, I had mixed up my measuring spoons and was putting in 2 tsp/cup rather than 1tsp/cup 🤣 I've fixed the error and back to having fantastic genmaicha!

Love this tea! I've been drinking it daily as my afternoon pick me up.

This is so smooth and wonderful, makes me feel great

I've had this style of tea out several times but wasn't the biggest fan of it.
I received some in the teas of Japan set though and this variety is incredible. I will always come back to this one

I would give this a 4.5 star if I could. I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. It has a mild green tea taste that is balanced out wonderfully with a rice undertone. It almost reminds me of sushi rice (with the seaweed wrapped around it) which I guess could be off-putting for some. Upon re-steeping the rice flavor seems more pronounced to me, which could be taken as good or bad, but I personally am okay with it. I would recommend ordering a sample (as I did) since this tea is very unique and may not appeal to everyone. However, if you like unique green teas this is definitely worth a try.

This tea is just not my favorite. I’m giving 3 stars because I personally didn’t enjoy it. The tea holds up to the description - and tastes “toasted” in a way. It is similar to popcorn in taste but not in a good way. Personally I don’t enjoy the flavor but if this is up your alley it’s worth a shot. I’m glad I tried it regardless.

Delicious.

I really love this toasted, nutty Genmai Cha tea. It's very satiating and filling... like having a snack. My favourite tea. I have re-ordered several times. Wonderful with any meal or perfect stand-alone.

Update: Continue to love Genmai Cha - definitely the best of the best of Adagio teas.

I never thought I'd be into this sort of flavor; but now it's my all day/everyday jam.

Steeped for a long 2 minutes (more like 2.5). This is a great genmai cha. Subtle, fresh and delightful post yoga morning tea!

The green tea flavor is a bit overwhelmed by the toasted rice, which has a flavor reminiscent of Rice Krispie cereal. I brewed it with less than the recommended amount of tea leaves, which helped with the grassiness. This has a hint of saltiness that I am not a fan of in my genmaicha blends.

★★★★★

One of my all time favorite teas. Love the toasty flavor

Have tried this tea many times before and find Adagios to be one of the best so far. Tea is very fresh and nutty. Will definitely purchase again!

genmai cha is an interesting name for some tea yo

Stunningly flavorful and aromatic, yet at the same time, a gentle light tea which pleases my senses. Both my husband and I enjoy this tea!

★★★★★

Great tea! Something about the flavor of the toasted rice flavors in here really balances the green tea perfectly.

A mellow, traditional green tea with the smooth, malty flavor of the puffed rice. Tastes like the tea at sushi restaurants!

This has been one of my favorites for a long time. So tasty and refreshing. Even preparing a pot makes me feel good. Updating my review: nothing has changed. This is still wonderful.

★★★★★

One of the best green teas I've ever had! It's perfectly nutty and tastes great.

★★★★★

I drink this tea every morning. I love the taste of the toasted rice.

★★★★☆

One of my favorite teas to drink every day after meals. Adagio's version is nutty and strong and comforting. I have to be careful about amount, because too much tea can make it too bitter and grassy tasting, but just the right amount (I use about 2 tsp per 500 mL) steeped for only 2 minutes is just right for me.

I love the toastiness of this tea and it's less vegetal than I expected.

This is an interesting tea. At first I didn't care for the savory smell, the mellow flavor. But as time went by I found myself craving this tea more and more. Now it's one of my favorites. It smells of slightly burnt rice and has a veggie taste that lingers. Great for cold days.

★★★★★

This is my new favorite tea to drink during the day. It tastes good in a casual way. The popped rice adds a subtle salty and carby flavor. I don't know how else to describe it. It smells like good popped rice in a well kept garden after the rain. I guess it reminds me of relaxing at night with a bowl of popcorn and a cup of tea.

The quality of this tea varies widely. I was subscribed to it for about 9 months. The first bag I received was pretty good stuff. The second was even better. The third was mediocre. The fourth smelled like soap and tasted funny, like there was perfume spilled in it that didn't belong there. Etc. Suffice to say, I am no longer subscribed to this tea.

A great green tea with the nutty taste of toasted rice! One of my favorite flavor combos in regards to tea and this if probably my favorite tea that I've ordered from Adagio so far!

★★★★☆

This is a very nice quality Japanese green for a very reasonable price. I love starting my day with this tea or enjoying it with a light meal. The nuttiness is subtle so as not to be overwhelming and the tea itself has a fresh, mild flavor. This is one of my favorite teas to have regularly. Also a great way to mock up a meal from a fancy sushi restaurant at home! As always, adagio delivers!

The flavor on this is absolutely perfect, addictive even, but I was pretty disappointed at how weak the brew was. I felt like I needed to use a ridiculous amount of tea to get the kind of flavor I needed for a normal cup of green (and, just to be clear, I have been drinking genmaicha for almost 20 years, so I don't know if it's just the sencha they are using in this blend?), and it's just not economical to go through that much tea per cup for me, as much as I love the flavor.

★★★★★

Love this tea, it has the more grassy Japanese green tea flavor balanced by the toasty rice, kind of similar to barley tea minus the malt. Make sure not to burn it and it is beautiful, even on a longer steep.

I am biased because I’m not a fan of green teas that aren’t flavored but it tastes very earthy.
