I am a huge fan of GMC. If you like savoury tea, if you like rice, this is a must try! One of my favourite types of green tea.

★☆☆☆☆

It really does taste like popcorn, but that makes for an unpleasant cup of tea for me

★★★★☆

Lovely toasty green-ness. A gentle and subtle flavoured cup for anytime of day

★★★★☆

A pretty good genmai cha. Toasty and fresh tasting.

★★★☆☆

This tea has a nutty and toasted flavor quite like sesame.

★★★★★

I love this tea! I really like the nutty, earthy flavor. It's perfect with just a drizzle of honey.

★★★★★

Delicious! nutty and warm, just dont let it sit out too long!

★★★★★

This is my favorite green tea. Great roasted aroma and taste.

★★★★★

This has been my favorite tea for years. My coworkers don't care for it (we all share each other's tea), but that means more for me! It turns out that they just don't like green teas. Warm, toasty, comforting, just what I like in a tea.

Wow, this tea tastes like plain mini-wheat cereal. Great to drink in the morning. However, I suggest not adding honey, but using sugar or another alternative.

★★★★★

Fantastic quality Genmai Cha. Robust and unique flavor, very tasty. I like drinking it when I have the munchies as a healthier replacement.

★★★★★

Great tea when it’s colder outside! Love the taste. I also love matcha added to this tea.

This is one of my 'go-to' green teas. Has a fabulous barley undertone.

Favorite for years, nutty and hearty, #1 favorite tea.

This was such an interesting tea. I had heard of this before but had never tried it. I have put nuts in my tea and it always turns out great so I thought this would probably taste just as good. The roasted rice comes through to a high degree in this tea and gives it a nutty sesame seed taste. Then the green tea sits in the background giving it that astringent quality. A little of this goes quite a long way which makes sense as this tea was originally used to help make the tea last longer. It pairs well with cake and meals. If you are feeling adventurous I would try this.

★★★★★

A wonderful aroma. Subtle and earthy. It's a nice treat at the end of a long day

★★★★★

Every morning I start my day with genmai cha tea. It has roasted popped brown rice in it, which gives it a delicious nutty flavor. Highly recommend!

★★★★★

Lots of toasty rice notes and a mellow green tea backbone. Great for cold winter nights as a way to recover from the day.

The Genmai Cha is very good. It looks good when you steep it too

★★★☆☆

A good toasty tea in general not sure if I received a bad or older batch but it lacked any smell of toasted rice when opened and the taste was very weak, it should have a strong smell both fresh and after brewing. I have also had this tea from other sellers and I think adagio missed the mark on this one.

★★★★★

Love this tea. Toasty and flavorful, with a lovely aroma. It's so good.

★★★★★

By far my favorite everyday tea. I love the toasty nuttiness in the aroma and flavor.

★★★★☆

Not the best genma cha I've had but it's pretty good. Good aroma from the toasted rice but tea itself is a little bland for green tea.

★★★★★

This sounded like an interesting adventure, so I decided to order it and I am so absolutely pleased. It has the same green tea flavor that I already love but it's coupled with a rich nuttiness from the rice that makes it even more enjoyable. I definitely recommend this tea.

★★★☆☆

This tea is... interesting. It's more savory and toasty than anything else, which isn't unpleasant, but I'm not sure it's my thing.

★★★★★

One of my favorites! I have Genmai cha from other brands, and this is the favorite.

★★★★★

This is my 'house' green tea! I love the nutty quality that the toasted rice adds to the green tea.

★★★★★

Such a pleasant surprise! A warm and nutty savory tea. I say savory because it runs a bit closer to a salt flavor compliment than sugar, almost broth-y. Still smells like a great grassy green tea, but with a fuller nuttiness. I highly recommend it!

★★★☆☆

I haven't quite figured out where this tea fits in to my life. It has a unique flavor, definitely 'toasted.' It doesn't really satisfy my taste for tea, but it's by no means an un-enjoyable drink. If I've got a gyokuro in my cupboard, or even a sencha, I don't know what circumstances would prompt me to reach for this genmaicha.

★★★★★

I absolutely love this tea. It's my daily drinker now. Slightly nutty with that umami that i adore, I always buy the big bag and keep it in stock.

Well balanced and toasty. Surprisingly full bodied on the second brew as well! Good afternoon tea to keep you going til dinner -- tastes like tea and a snack in one.

★★★★★

I love this green tea. It is so unique and so satisfying. I want to drink it all day long.

★★★★☆

An interesting tea. If you're in the mood for popcorn without the calories this is your tea.

★★★☆☆

It didn't smell of taste as nicely of roasted rice in comparison to the same tea from Teavana...

★★★★★

I love the toasted flavor in this tea. It pairs well with the flavor of the green tea. Don't over steep as it will get really bitter!

Savory green tea! The aroma is great and is one of my new favorites for sure! This will be a new staple in my tea collection for sure

★★★★★

This is my new favorite. The rice give this a rich nutty flavor and I add just a little rock sugar to it and it is amazing.

★★★★★

I was surprised to learn that the Genmai Cha was a 'people's' tea, with the rice used as a filler for short tea and food supplies. This is my staple tea, and I am almost never without it. It definitely has a roasted nutty flavor, but it merges well with the green tea. It is subtle enough that it doesn't take over, but is still quite tasty. Just don't steep it too long - it can get bitter. I usually get at least 2 cups out of each serving.

For how long have I searched for the Genmai tea from my childhood. I've been an Adagio consumer for two years now and I was afraid of trying this because my expectations for this kind of tea was high. I sucked it up and decided to get a sample since my grandmother was visiting from overseas. I wished I tried it sooner because this brought me back to the mornings of my childhood where my grandmother would spend mornings drinking this tea. This was it, but only smoother and a distinct nutty flavor that didn't overpower the green tea. The toasted rice notes with the lightness of the green tea make it a great afternoon or pre-meal tea. If I need an extra boost in caffeine then I would mix it with gunpowder. It will not lose the smoothness but give a robust kick to complement it.

I am a big fan of the Korean version of this tea (hyeonmi nokcha), but had 1) never tried it loose leaf, and 2) never tried it the Japanese style. As far as I can tell, the big differences between the two is that Korean green tea is processed differently than Japanese (they are both steamed, but the nokcha leaves look very different from a Japanese sencha) and the rice does not appear to be quite as roasted as the Japanese version - certainly not as puffy. Regardless, I can say that both are delicious, with a very pleasant roasted/nutty flavor. It's a delicious change from the typical Japanese green, with much less of a grassy taste. It may look strange, but it's absolutely worth trying!

Loved this tea, will definetly re-order. Very good profile and can be brewed multiple times. Love the nutty taste and aroma from toasted rice. Nice to drink with a dessert after meals.

I love this tea! I never would have thought to try it but it was in my advent calendar. It’s now one of my favorites😍

I didn't know how I'd feel about a savory tea, but this combination of rice and popcorn is delightful. It's completely different from anything else I've tried and I really appreciate it. It's a bit like a broth, but warming. I'll be ordering more.

Excellent nutty flavor. As a caffeine-sensitive person, I can't handle as much of this as I could prior genmai teas so it still packs a punch.

★★★★★

Very cool taste! Really good Japanese tea with interesting popped rice aftertaste

★★★★★

Nothing quite like the nutty flavor of genmai cha and this one is very flavorful.

★★★★★

This is a really smooth green tea with a slightly nutty flavor. Very good and will order again

★★★★★

I love the combination! It allows a different flavor profile than green tea while avoiding sweeteners and creamers. I tell friends if you wish you liked green tea for the health benefits to give this a try!
