This has now become my favorite tea. I had no idea I would like this tea as much as I do. The rice kernels add a nice flavor and aroma that serves to even out the vegetal taste you normally get with green teas.
Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

Love the puffed rice in this. It adds a warmth and nuttiness.
I fell in love with this tea! It has a really great toasted rice cake flavor which is so soothing and deep.
I love this tea! I’ve been looking for it everywhere!!!
I was curious to try this, but no pun intended this was not my cup of tea. Nutty toasted rice flavor sounded better than it tasted to me.
Toasty and comforting, tastes warm even when taken chilled over ice! Best enjoyed hot with a hint of honey, in my opinion.
Between the nutty effect of the popped rice and the cheap roots of the tea, I just love it. Every few days the craving will hit, and there's nothing quite like it.
Flavor balance is perfect! I love the flavor of green tea with the nutty popped rice flavor. No bitterness or acidity.
Really loving this tea. It has a wonderful toastiness. Reminded of the green tea from my favorite Japanese restaurant...spot on, the same flavor. If you like a toasted green tea, you MUST try this one.
I'm just a big fan of this tea. Its not my first time buying it, nor the last. The rice gives it a really unique flavor.
I've been a huge fan of genmai cha ever since I stumbled on it while visiting an Asian grocery store. This is one of my favorites that I've had. The brown rice smells amazing but doesn't make the tea feel heavy, nor does it get somewhat 'lost' after steeping.
Deliciously nutty and mild. The toasted rice gives this green tea a very grounding effect. This is my go-to afternoon tea - very satisfying and slightly brothy.
nice nutty flavour, good way to keep warm at my freezing desk
I love this, such a warm, toasty tea. Definitely a favorite, no sweetener needed.
Simple put, the best Genmai Cha I've consumed so far.
This Genmai Cha was great! It was a great morning tea for me. It was light and the toasted rice was a light delicate flavor. I've tried some Genmai Cha where the rice was too strong but this one was just right for my taste.
One of my favorites that I always have on hand. Love the toasty rice bits.
Toasty & grassy green tea with hints of popcorn & seaweed. It's a wonderful & mild green tea.
Great flavor! Perfect balance of the nuttiness of the nice and a grassy green
I love the flavor profile of this tea. It s a little different than other teas but reminds me of my favorite bottled tea from Japan
Similar but has more flavor than simply with Sencha
This is very good. I've tried the same blend from another tea store before. This one has more toasted rice bits than the other. I'd prefer more of the green tea. I did 180 for 2 min 1st brew, and 180 for 3.5 min 2nd brew, and it comes out very good.
Delicious every day tea. Love the toasted rice flavor. Relatively economical too!
Great taste and a perfect tea to drink in the morning.
This was my first experience with this type of green tea, and I really enjoyed it. Subtle sweetness and a nice texture. Would definitely buy again, and encouraged me to explore this variety more.
One of my all-time favorite teas... the popped rice brings such a nice balance to the brighter, vegetal Japanese green tea and never comes off bitter. I always steep it for less than the recommended time.
Best affordable genmai cha I've found. Unlike most the toasted rice flavor is distinct and balanced.
The vegetable-like flavor of the green tea plus the rice makes this taste almost like a soup. I wouldn't drink it every day, but it's good as a change of pace.
I go out for sushi about once a week and fell in love with the tea they serve at the restaurant. Now I can make it for myself! I drink it when I get sushi takeout but I also find myself craving it just on its own. It's a great thirst-quenching tea.
This tea is so satisfying. Has a delightful roasty, almost savory quality to it. One of my favorite ways to drink green tea!
This was a test tea for me. I am not a toasty flavor tea gal! I knew it was iffy when I got it but really want to give everything a good try. Not for me.
Very lowkey grassy flavor, buttery, nutty. Kind of tastes like popcorn to me.
Purchased as a gift for friends of the family! They have said they love it!
Adagio, you’ve done it again. Great tea to drink all day. I can rebrew it three times.
Tastes like popcorn or sesame oil. Not a huge fan, but it isn't terrible.
I've been wanting to try the Genmai Cha green tea for a loooooong time. I never got a chance to try it when I was patronizing Teavana exclusively, but now that Adagio Teas are my go to place for loose leaf teas, I finally got to try this particular variety of tea.
For me, the tea is a middle of the road tea. It's okay, I like it, but I'm not crazy raving about it either. I like toasty and nutty type flavors and this tea would be classified as such, but it's just 'meh', okay.
For me, the flavor is reminiscent of the Kellogg's Sugar Smacks Cereal (Kamut) that I used to eat as a kid only the tea doesn't have the sugar that the cereal has. That's sort of what it tastes like somewhat.
Because this Genmai tea just tastes so-so by itself, what I like to do is add / blend it with the MOST EXCELLENT Rooibos Cocomint tea. The toasted nutty flavor combined with the mint flavor (plus my almond milk) really transforms the Genmai tea and makes it more palpable to my tastes. Because the Rooibos Cocomint is a very strong flavored tea, I recommend a 1/2 (0.5) teaspoon per cup to whatever you blend it with so it is not OVERPOWERING your other added tea, or you can add whatever amount to your taste preference. I always drink 16 ounces of tea at one time, so I add 1 level teaspoon of Rooibos Cocomint. And because the Rooibos teas have no caffeine in them, it blends nicely with the low caffeine content of the Genmai.
Overall, the Genmai is a fork of the road (take it or leave it) tea and mildly recommended.
I’m a huge fan of genmaicha and this is a very nice one. While I have had more interesting and complex ones, this is very nice
Almost impossible to get tired of this one. Clear taste, not too strong, not too weak. Perfect for mornings.
This is by far my favorite tea I’ve bought from Adagio. It has a perfect blend of rice and green tea flavor and the leaves steep multiple times!
Very savory, I like it when I want something unusual to drink.
I love the way the roasted brown rice smells right after I brew it, and it has a wonderful nutty taste.
I've made my own genmaicha but this is just as good! I love this blend, it's good hot but try it iced for something refreshing but also filling!
This genmai cha is a bit weak when brewed as suggested, but has a great flavor. Would steep longer.
I loved this tea! The rice gave it a hint of grainy flavor...almost like a cheerio. It was such a pleasant twist on “normal” green tea. I will definitely be ordering this again!
This was okay, but I’m not a big Chai tea fan. This was sent as a free sample so I thought I would give it a try.
This has to be my favorite green tea. I love the nutty flavor of the rice.
This tea tastes like popcorn to me. It was such a shock the first sip. I love it!!!
One of my all time favourite teas, great for all seasons. I love the light nutty flavour.
This tea is one of the more unique ones I ve tried. It has a really pleasant nutty taste that I enjoy any time of the year.
Tastes similar to Kellogg's Honey Smacks. No kidding.
