This tea is amazing! I always refer to it as 'popcorn tea' because it has a nice nutty, popcorn-like taste to a sencha-like tea. It's perfect for when I'm looking for a more savory tea rather than a sweeter taste. I highly, highly recommend!
Classic Japanese green tea, blended with toasted, popped rice. Warm, nutty with a lovely savory and hearty quality.

Great after dinner tea. Very relaxing. Taste a bit nutty
This is a really warm nutty tea, it is really a pale green in color. This is a traditional Japanese tea that i have only had a few other times before.
This tea is warm, nutty, rich and full- it has absolutely no bitter or sour notes. It is a marvelous pick me up, and the caffeine content is neither overwhelming nor undetectable. It's wonderful. I drink it pretty much incessantly.
I’ma tea newbie and this is my first one. I like it a great deal! It’s mild and nutty. Not too grassy, which is what I expected from green tea. I don’t know if that’s true or not. I will order this again. It’s good!
Still the best Genmai Cha. Subtle. I was worried the first time I got it because of the 'popcorn' look, since I was only used to the more traditional toasted rice, but it really adds a slight little different flavor.
Classic Gemma Cha. Very good. Love the kinda nutty taste I get
Love it!!! So plain and simple but so pure and delicate. I really this as a break from my flavored tea
I love this green tea! The toasted rice adds a warm buttery flavor that is so comforting
This tea reminds me quite a bit of a roasted barley tea my Korean sister-in-law used to serve, boricha. Like the roasted barley tea, the genmai cha has a toasted grain (in this case rice) flavor. Devoid of bitterness and with a mild nutty taste, this one is sure to become one of my favorites. I prefer my teas iced, particularly in a hot summer, and genmai cha tastes great over ice.
One of my favorite tea. Toasted riced and the sencha are really a good pair. I also love how it smells.
This is one of my favorite teas. Smells of popcorn and rice, but tastes nutty and slightly sweet. A really nice tea hot or cold.
Simply fascinating. There is no other tea like it, and any serious tea connoisseur owes it to themselves to try it. Earthy and nutty with traces of brown grain residue that will remind you of unsweetened rice crispies (the aftertaste, especially!). This may very well be one of my favorite green teas, and you can't help feel you're expanding your knowledge of culture and cuisine while you enjoy it. Definitely recommended.
i just tried this for the first time with my last order. I love it, great grassy flavor and undertones. I will definitely be ordering again.
Green tea with a nutty flavor from the roasted brown rice. Relaxing Tea.
My first Japanese tea, and I was very pleased it was. A very strong nutty flavor as you'd expect, with a fantastic aroma. If you like nutty things you'll enjoy this.
such a lovely cup. i always oversteep my green tea because i am a monster and enjoy the taste, and the rice flavor came through nice and strong.
Delicious tea. I have generally avoided green teas, but I heard that this tea was good for green tea novices and decided to give it a try.
Nutty green tea - not my thing, though quite unique in some respects.
One of my favorite green teas, as im a huge fan of the flavor which comes from the popped rice. Velvety, herby, and comforting.
Always a big fan of Genmai Cha and Adagio certainly delivers with theirs. Lovely nutty flavor that I can never be tired of!
A nice nutty green tea, and pretty decent if you like the type. Tasted less popcorny than the first type I tried.
Nice with a meal or in the afternoon pleasant sweat green taste
Very good, hearty green tea. I like that it is forgivable on the steep time and temp unlike other more delicate green teas.
Genmai Cha is easily one of my favorite teas. The toasted rice flavor is just amazing.
One of my favorite green tea! Will purchase again!
This is hands down the best Genmai Cha! It has the popped rice, which adds great depth of flavor. I highly recommend it!
Surprisingly I was scared by the smell but dear goodness the popped rice really does something nice
The rice adds a nice, smooth taste, though it may be a little strange if you ve never had rice tea before.
Need to be careful with Genmai Cha - brew it too long and it's showing off bitterish green tea notes. Brew it just right - and it's a bliss.
Best to alternate with Kukicha.
A light and almost nutty tea from the rice flavor. This is one of my favorites and you definitely get bag for buck with this one.
Warm and toasty and just wonderful! A delicate tea that will be sure to comfort you! I love the light toasted rice flavor! Reminds me of Rice Crispies cereal!
I love this tea, it's earthy and full flavored, and a favorite afternoon pick me up.
This is my go to tea. The flavors are light and well balanced. I add maybe a teaspoon of honey to bring out the flavors, it does not need much. A nutty and comforting tea.
Not the ABSOLUTE BEST genmai cha I’ve had, but that is unfair; I have had it in local tea shops in China. :)
Classic, toasty, very vegetal/“green” tasting tea.
I've had better Genmai before...the flavor was just a little weak for me - and there were leaves everywhere in my cup even with my finest strainer...
If this is your thing, go for it
This is a great green tea! Nutty buttery flavor. Great hot or room temperature!
Definitely mine and my boyfriend's favorite tea. He drinks it almost daily. Like green tea with a little something extra. The rice adds a little toasty flavor to it.
good solid everyday tea - we prefer the coconut pouchong but this'll do
Like drinking popcorn which sounds gross but it’s really quite pleasant. I enjoy adding just a little bit of honey.
Best green tea ever. I've reordered my 2nd large bag of this tea and know I'll drink it all
Genmai Cha is one of my favourites and this one has a rich roasted rice flavour!
I know all the reviews talk about how nice the toasted rice is in here but gotta be honest I don't love the flavor it imparts. Next time I'll toast my own rice krispies to put in it. This is a tea for your enemies.
I'm sure that it tastes great to many, but as for me, no thanks. Glad I tried it though.
Genmaicha is among my favorite greens - I love the little bits of roasted rice. It pairs well with my cereal in the morning.
Nice and toasty. Got this as a replacement for my husband's green tea and he enjoys it. The puffed rice balances nicely with the flavor of the green tea without over powering it.
I ordered it out of curiosity but found to like it a lot. very tender with an aroma of roasted rice. enjoy it alone. other things (like sweets) may consume the aroma
People rave about Genmai Cha. For me, it was an acquired taste but now I think it's lovely--toasty and savory.
I love this tea with dinner. The brightness of the green tea contrasted by the nuttiness of the roasted rice are always a winning combination!
Love it. Toasty flavor. Hubby likes to eat the toasted rice.
