Dragonwell Customer Reviews

One of China's most famous teas, from Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. Distinctive flattened leaf shape gives the tea an inviting, toasty aroma. Sweet rounded flavor, like freshly roasted white corn. Nutty, buttery texture, pleasantly dry finish.

I am new to tea, so this one took a few tries to get right. Filtered cold water, boiled, then let rest for 3 minutes (so maybe the water is close to 180 degrees), only letting it set for 2 minutes - all of this worked to produce a subtle fragrant tea. I made 2 batches of it this morning, added ice to keep it cold in the frig. and added a teaspoon of honey - sipped on it all day. Great tea.

This is one of my favorites. I like it hot as a mid-morning treat. It has a light grassy flavor.

I learned about Dragonwell tea in a series of books by Qiu Xiaolong. It has become my go to tea and I enjoy it any time of day.

I find it difficult to describe Adagio s dragonwell beyond saying simply that it s like a good version of the generic 'green tea' that you can find at just about any basic Chinese restaurant across the U.S. It is quite good, but it s nothing special to me.

A basic dragonwell tea that shows off the delicious flavor of dragonwell, but doesn’t have the same “wow” factor as the really rare high grade stuff. But for the price, it’s not bad at all

Beautiful green leaves with a roasty nut taste, like soy nuts.

My favorite green tea. Sweeter and less bitter, a very light color. Resteeps very well.

★★★★☆

Not a bad tea as an everyday green tea, however there seems to be a bit of chalkiness to it.

If you do a quick brew it’s the best in my opinion.

I have always loved this tea! It is my go to green tea for when I am wanting a little caffeine throughout the day. It also makes an amazing iced tea when you slowly cold brew it.

This tea seemed to be a bit harsh for my liking but gets tamed down when you add honey.

Nothing exceptional, but a well rounded green that avoids the grassyness/greens flavor.

This was my first time with a Dragonwell, I got the sample which was a very fair size. It is a great way to experiment with the more high end teas. I would try this if I were you, at least the sample.

I originally was gifted this team from TeaVana and when I ran out I immediately went to Adagio see if they had something like it. I was happy they had the exact tea. I really enjoy the nutty ness of the tea.

Appearance: Pale yellowish green.

Aroma: Mix of fresh cut grass and peaches. Second steeping gets a roasted corn smell.

Taste: Mild astringency at the front of the mouth with a bit of clean grass flavor. Grass flavor becomes more pronounced along with peach on the swallow. Peach lingers in the aftertaste with just a hint of nuttiness. Second steeping very similar flavor to the first.

Mouthfeel: Light-medium bodied. Similar feeling to a slightly dry wine after swallow.

Overall: Nice subtle green tea. Gives you fruity flavor solely from tea leaves instead of flavorings. Due to its subtlety is best sipped slowly vs some of the stronger flavored green and black teas.

Great light flavor. Super refreshing. Definitely my go to in the mornings when I want flavor without too much caffeine

Another great green tea by Adagio! Has a light, nutty flavor.

Best tea. A step up from sleeping dragon. Worth the money.

There are green grass and vegetable flavors followed by a sweet nuttiness with a dry and slightly tannic finish.

★★★★★

One one my favorite teas this year. I prefer it hot over cold, and lightly sweetened with agave, and it’s perfect. Gently creamy with vegetal and nutty notes, definitely a must-have in my tea collection.

This is my favorite green tea by far! Full bodied, yet very smooth and mellow. Not grassy at all. I highly recommend it!

Understeep rather than oversteep, when it's brewed right it's so naturally sweet and pleasantly grassy. If you leave it too long it's not nearly as plesant, much more astringent. But for my pallet, dragonwell is the best style of green tea when you want that wonderful clean green tea flavor.

Normally, I love green teas, but I was not a huge fan of this one... The taste was alright, but something of the smell just seemed off to me? Perhaps just a bad batch.

★★★★☆

Very savory and grassy, this one! I personally prefer 'sweeter' sorts of green teas, but this one was a neat change of pace, and fresh despite not being my cup of tea.

I hate to do this, but this is my third dragonwell and it is absolutely horrible. The leaves are undrinkably bitter after 30s of steeping, temp doesn't seem to matter. The only way I can get a drinkable cup out of this dragonwell is Gong Fu style with 5s steeps. That way at least a jillion leaves can get 2 steepings. 15s - lol. REALLY disappointed I bought a large bag. =/

My favorite green tea. Refreshing, not grassy. Perfect with a little honey.

This is not my cup of tea. I got this for my 16 year old daughter and she loves this tea. She says it’s a nice fresh tea.

Phenomenal. Dragon Well is a long time favorite of mine and this one was flawless. Perfect dry, great aroma, crisp taste

Longjing was my first introduction to more roasted green teas. It is one of the most well known green teas, and is one of the top Chinese 10 teas. It is an excellent tea depending on the source. This tea from Adagio definitely is of higher quality as you can tell from where the leaves were fried and it creates a yellowing. Overall excellent, yummy and delicious.

Perfect for a relaxing cup. Flavor is mild and calming.

★★★★☆

Pretty standard green tea, but my favorite for evening sessions of Dungeons & Dragons — enough caffeine for a boost without keeping me up all night.

★★★★★

This is by far my favorite tea! It’s a little pricey compared to other tees but it can get by with a second steeping. And to be honest I like to use a little extra than recommended for a more robust flavor. This has been my go to afternoon tea for over a decade. It doesn’t need a thing, just brew and enjoy straight.

I was super shocked at how light the tea was! At first I thought I didn't have hot enough water but it was definitely hot enough. It's not a bad tea and I enjoyed it but I definitely prefer stronger teas so this one is a pass for me.

Sorry, but this tea is too gamey for my tastes. I prefer the sweeter notes in other teas.

Beautiful Tea! Quite strong, so I recommend to only steep it for 30 seconds or so.
Strong but smooth and balanced flavour!
This is also a great tea to blend with other flavours.

Wow! This tea looks, smells, and tastes incredible!

★★★★★

Gentle taste, good for multiple steepings. I only add a little honey to each cup

★★★★☆

I guess I am more of a Japanese green tea admirer however i did enjoy this dragon well. It has more of a toasted nuts flavor as opposed to the umami cut grass vibrancy of a gyokuro tea. It is nice for a change of pace but i have always associated good green teas with a vegetal taste. As with any good tea gong fu brewing is the way to go. I will buy again for once in a while consumption.

Light, tastes like the smell of cut grass with a delicate sweetness. Has a slightly nutty aftertaste. A great lighter green tea.

It's definitely got that smoke flavor, but it isn't my favorite. The pale color of it shocked me. XD

I have never been a fan of green tea. The after taste always got to me. Reluctantly, I decided, why not try it...SURPRISE! I was so pleasantly taken off guard. No after taste. Now this will never replace my black tea, especially the Assum Medley (?), but it was tasty with a little stevia.

★★★☆☆

This is some green tea. It's very strong and definitely can keep me awake. In between loving it and hating it

★★★☆☆

This is only the second green tea I've tried and it's interesting. I'm not a big fan of the earthiness of this tea but I would like to try other green teas.

★★★★★

I love Dragonwell. It’s a solid green tea. It’s earthy and vegetal, so I can see how some don’t like it. But I crave the sweet grass, asparagus-like flavor that comes from this. My local tea shop also sells Adagios Dragonwell and it is one of my favorite evening/ dinner teas. Very refreshing and palette cleansing.

★★★☆☆

The aroma is amazing. The leaves smell grassy and when I added water this great toasty aroma was added. The flavor was a bit of a let down. I was expecting that same toasty element but it just wasn't there. It's very light in flavor, which has the grassy, earthiness but is completely missing the toast.
