Don’t normally love green tea but I did enjoy this one
One of China's most famous teas, from Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. Distinctive flattened leaf shape gives the tea an inviting, toasty aroma. Sweet rounded flavor, like freshly roasted white corn. Nutty, buttery texture, pleasantly dry finish.

Don’t normally love green tea but I did enjoy this one
Tasting this tea with the CommuniTEA today. This is one of the first teas I order from Adagio. It is a solid, delicate green tea. (I am mainly a green tea drinker.) It has a distinct nutty-buttery nose. When I take a sip I get a nice subtle mineral taste with a nice long dry, leafy-green, earthy-mineral finish. The green tea tannins are present in this tea and leave you wanting another sip. I like the subdued complexity of this tea and the fact that it lingers long on your palate after taking a sip. This is a great example of how complex and interesting a tea can be simply displaying the characteristics of the place where it was grown, without added ingredients.
My CommuniTEA packet smelled mostly herbal or grassy, but the brewed tea has little of that herbal flavor. It's fruity, reminiscent of citrus, with a dry finish. This is a very pleasant cup.
I wish there was something between love and hate. I don’t feel that strongly about it either way. I’ll drink it. I won’t order it. I didn’t get anything resembling a buttery taste. It’s more grassy.
What a lovely mild way to start the day! Green teas are not my favorites, but I’m beginning to think it’s because I’ve never experienced good quality green teas! Dragonwell is such a pleasant variety. My sample pouch from Communitea was full of beautiful flat tea leaves, ready to dance and create a light golden brew. Steeped for 2 minutes at 180 degrees resulted in a delicious elixir, with no sugar or cream necessary. The tea was mild, with light notes of grain but no sign of grassy undertones. Another tea I would gladly add to my collection!
This is a lovely green tea. But I am not a very big fan of green teas. I tend to drink black and darker oolong teas. I would drink this if it was offered to me, but I would not purchase it.
Nice, smooth green tea. No bitterness when brewed at the proper temperature (I use 175 for my greens)
A slightly toasted aroma with layered flavor. To be sipped not gulped to fully enjoy. Buttery mouthfeel with a dry finish, you can easily imagine the artistry that goes into a cup of Dragonwell.
I was presented with a plentiful amount of perfectly flattened pan-fried green tea leaves in my communiTEA packet this morning.
From start to finish; pleasant green grass and buttery sweet corn flavors were moderate. Mild nutty flavors were noted. No bitterness was noted.
Towards finish, a perfect amount of astringent mouthfeels were present. You can probably get more than two steeps out of this one. (1st steep: 2 mins 15 secs/subsequent steeps: 1 min 30 secs @ 175ºF, no additions)
One of my favourite green teas! Light and delicate. Steep at 175 for three minutes
This tea was fun to watch unfurl and sink and move about while it steeped on the first go. It makes a pale, greenish-yellow cup with a smooth mouthfeel. The grassy aroma is quite strong, with a hint of the sea in it. It tastes of toasted vegetables or roasted grains to me, and it's a little bitter with a very dry, astringent finish.
Leaves hot in a wok; Bold, majestic, royalTEA; smooth and buttery (Haiku Review)
One of my favorite green teas! Light toasty, nutty, and grassy.
Green teas are not usually my favorites...the light taste and grassy scent just aren't my thing. BUT, I'm not one to form an opinion without actually trying something. I'm glad I tried this tea with an open mind -- I like it! On opening the packet, there was the usual grassy herbal scent...but it had a sweet grainy aroma too like a hint of nuts or maybe even popcorn to it. I brewed for 3 minutes at 180F. This light tea has a sweet herbal nutty flavor to it. The whole time I was drinking my cup, I kept thinking that this tea would be wonderful with a light breakfast of buttered toast with just a slight smear of orange marmalade on it. :) I would not have tried this on my own. Another win for CommunitTea -- I like it! I'm ordering a bag so I can see if it really does go wonderfully with toast and marmalade! :)
Wonderful green tea. It is a buttery, well-rounded cup. Two minutes is perfect for the first brew, at 175°F. I get several more cups after, and I think that’s because the leaves are left mostly whole. When they unfold they are smaller in size and produce a pretty yellow-green color.
This is a beautiful golden colored tea with a pleasantly mild grassy scent and taste. I wanted to be careful with brewing so I steeped at 175F for just over 2 minutes. A sunny colored tea developed that tasted slightly earthy with a mildly dry and astringent mouthfeel at the finish with no bitterness detected. My sweet tooth demanded that I add some sweetner so I added a bit of honey to each of my three steeps. I used commercial honey to sweeten the first cup but it overwhelmed the delicate tea flavor. For the next two steeps, I tried sweetening with Adagio's mild tasting Tupelo Honey that doesn't add much of its own flavor. This honey and tea combination was a winner and sealed the deal. I definitely would drink more of this tea in the future. Green definitely gets my tea vote today.
The dry tea leaves smell strongly of fresh grass. The first steep in a gaiwan at 175° for 3 minutes provided a pale green color with a toasty, nutty aroma. I definitely get the notes of sweet white corn but I must have oversteeped it because the taste was quite bitter. I reduced the second steep for 2 minutes and it helped tone down the bitterness slightly, but it was still present. Underlying the bitterness, the taste is slightly nutty with a roasted vegetal quality and dry finish. On subsequent steeps the bitterness was mostly gone but so was the rest of the taste. It could have been user error or maybe just a stale batch of leaves or something in my CommuniTEA pack, so I would still buy a sample bag to try again with different brewing methods.
My all time favorite green tea. It has the taste of spring. If you are not a fan of green tea, I would recommend this one.
this is an incredibly well balanced green tea and will be one of my favorites from now on. Surprisingly sweet finish which i really enjoy
This is one of my favorite green teas from Adagio Teas.
This pan-fried tea is indeed toasty--great for cold afternoons.
Another one of my favorite green teas. It's light flavor profile makes it easy to drink any time i want a cup.
A very nice fresh grass note with a mild astringency.
Very good green Tea. I mixed it with Passionfruit tango and will continue to mix it with other herbals in the future.
This has quickly become one of my personal favorite green teas. Smooth and buttery, with some herbaceous notes.
With a pale green appearance, this Dragonwell tea has a subtly sweet and savory smell that is extremely nostalgic. The taste resembles a slightly sweet, grassy taste with a hint of spice. One of my favorites
Very toasty and very green. This is an excellent choice for a refined tea.
Light green tea with a grassy taste. This is a staple inmy tea box
This is my favorite traditional. FAVORITE. It is so good and worth(?) the price.
This was a nice cup of tea. I steeped it a couple of times to fully enjoy it.
Long jing is the pinnacle of Chinese green tea in my opinion, and this is a perfect showing.
I love this! It's so toasty and just tasted, well... Green! Definitely going to make sure I always have this available!!
It's Dragonwell. Enough said. It's good tea. Seems exactly like the other variety of Dragonwell I've had.
The smell in the bag is very toasted, but upon brewing it comes through as overwhelmingly peachy. The flavor is intensely complex, with a sweet fruit first, and a lingering toasted note at the end. I didn t get any grassy notes from the first steeping.
My absolute favorite!! This tea is savory, it has notes of fresh baked bread and toasted rice. It’s light, balanced, and just perfect, with a savory breakfast, but also my go to green tea for everyday!
This is my favorite green tea by far. Would highly recommend.
One of the best, easiest to brew Chinese green teas. The sweet, mellow, buttery green tea flavor is phenomenal!
I'm a new customer and so far I believe I will become a permanent one due to the benefits we have notice from this Dragonwell tea. We believe it's does what it is intended to do. Packaging is consumer friendly which will allow my item to last and stay fresh.
Flavor not strong or distinct enough for my tastes. I was disappointed in this one.
My favorite green tea. Smooth, strong flavor. Don't over steep. *Update* This is now the only green tea I buy. I find many greens too weak for me or a little too bitter.
A very mild green tea, but in a good way. It doesn't have any of the aggressively vegital, grassy, or seaweedy notes like some greens. In the bag it certainly has an assertive toasty aroma, but it's very subtle in the cup. This is a very easy to drink green with a light taste.
When they say it tastes like sweet corn they're not kidding! It really does have a tasty veggie flavor that calls to mind late summer/early fall corn harvests, perfect for this time of year. Or really any time of year you want to summon an Indian summer aura.
This is a very solid green tea. It is great for days where you just need a little caffeine. It's also good to make for friends that typically don't drink tea.
It's a green tea. I was honestly a bit dissappointed, but only because a name like Dragonwell gives some high expectations. I may change my opinion later, but it's a good, simple green tea.
I originally got this tea in tea bags and super loved them. Having it loose leaf is even better in my opinion
Delicious. Bright herbaceous notes. The perfect everyday tea.
Lovely, nutty green, vaguely sweet but not. A good mildly savory tea.
A good cup of green tea without all the fuss.
There just wasn't anything special about this tea, tasted very similar to other less expensive green teas.
This is a very simple plain green. I would make this for someone who was interested in trying green tea for the first time. It’s not for me. I like more earthy and grassy notes. So I’ll stick to sencha and gunpowder
