This is a flavorful grassy green tea. It is delicious hot or iced and took multiple steeps.
One of China's most famous teas, from Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. Distinctive flattened leaf shape gives the tea an inviting, toasty aroma. Sweet rounded flavor, like freshly roasted white corn. Nutty, buttery texture, pleasantly dry finish.

This is a flavorful grassy green tea. It is delicious hot or iced and took multiple steeps.
Light and smooth, with a mild grassiness and faint toasted nut flavor as well.
This is an excellent green tea! It does indeed taste nutty and buttery like the description says, and it doesn't have the same strong grassiness to it that other greens often have. Steeped for 4 minutes at 90 degrees Celsius.
nice earthy aroma and notes. Note sure if I would call the other notes fruity or floral, but it is quite good. I would not recommend allowing it to get cold, there are some bitter afternotes when cold.
A very smooth and earthy tea. Enjoyable!
This is a toasty green tea with little grassiness. It’s light and delicate.
This is one of my favorite Adagio green teas! I can’t believe I have yet to review it. It steeps up to a pale yellow color. The flavor is buttery with a hint of grassiness with a bit of a bite to it. Cheers!
When it comes to green teas, Dragonwell is near the top of the list for me. This is a very good Dragonwell that opens with sweet notes and moves to more of a vegetal aftertaste without any astringency or bitterness.
This may be my new favorite green! A nice, bold flavor without being bitter. I think the description is right in calling it buttery. Loved it. :)
I love the shape of the leaves and how they stacked into my teaspoon, reminded me of dragon scales. It smells like a green tea, but it's taste wasn't like that of other green teas. Light, milky, and I think I picked up on the sweet corn flavor.
Is this Dragon becoming my fav Green!?! Mayhaps!! Deep, Earthy, Roasty-Toasty! So meditative and inviting. Its a Green thatcha don't wanna stop sipping. 'Tis surely a Tea Cabinet staple... whether you like Greens or prefer a good green around for 'now-and-again,' or as a palate cleanser..its a top fav of mine!
This was a wonderful green tea! It has a light vegetal taste that has toasty, nutty notes to it.
This is a great green tea. Nice flavor. Very earthy with a little nutty flavor like others have already said. Could drink this often.
Excellent light green tea. Very grassy and a bit herbal. Will get this one again.
UPDATED from 1/16/21: There is the aroma of running through fresh, tall grass as the CommuniTea packet is opened. The leaves are long and skinny, some dark green and some silver. They steep into a light golden color, however there is nothing light about the flavor. This tea has a strong astringency and toasty nutty taste. I add ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 10 oz) to bring out the sweeter smoothness. With each steep the tea becomes softer and more mellow. By the third steep, there is no longer any bitterness, and even though the color and flavor is weaker, the tea is delicious and needs no sweetener! (2:30 mins @180ºF + sweetener).
I tend to drink this grandpa style in the glass Adagio travel mug. It has rich Umami that is great on its own or mixed with mint herbal and it’s also yummy.
I am new to tea so exploring what I like and don’t like. I haven’t found a green tea I liked until now. This has a wonderful, light flavor I let it steep an extra couple minutes. I guess I like stronger flavors. But I did try it after 3 min first.
It's not one of my favorites it was kinda bitter tasting to me
Dragonwell is probably the least-grassy green tea I've had on Adagio so far, so that's a win. The aroma and flavour is more akin to hay than grass, and as described, it is toasty and a little like roasted corn. It's nice for a green tea, it's just not something I would seek out. Steeped 2 min @ 180ishº.
The pan-firing on this tea gives it a more roasted taste than other greens. It’s almost like a nuttiness. It doesn’t have the seaweed/grass notes of a Sencha or Gyokuro. If you don’t like those overt vegetal notes you may want to give Dragonwell a try. This tea is very smooth and buttery soft in mouthfeel. It is an easy drinker. It will steep up a few times, so drink this on a day you can zen out and really appreciate it. Happy Sipping!
If green tea could talk, this one would have a deep voice. One of the heartiest greens I have ever sipped. I don't get a sweetness from the leaves, but I definitely get the roasted flavor. It's clean with zero bitterness; makes for pleasant drinking anytime of the day.
This tea is a delicate, but flavorful, green. It has a sweetness to it, and also a little grassiness. Yum!
One of my favorites! I love dragonwell. Green goodness in a cup.
This was a nice green. Brewed up a delicate but flavorful liquid.
Excellent green tea with a deep earth flavor. One thing to note, the leaves and long and flat, so measuring can be a bit of a learning process
Years later, this is my absolute favorite tea. A beautiful light green tea. It's one of the few teas I can drink without any sweetener (though I prefer it with a little honey.) I highly recommend it.
What can I say about Dragonwell that hasn't been said for a millennia. A classic green tea, and my first true loose leaf tea (more than a decade ago). Nutty and light, great for multiple infusions.
Always delicious. buttery greens with a full body bean taste. Very mesquite and strong tasting. I love it.
I found this green tea to be a little stronger than what I usually like. Def reminiscent of matcha. I would agree that it has a grassy taste.
Loved it, great flavor taste and good value quality
Very similar to other traditional Chinese green teas I've had. I honestly can't discern anything from it that would set it apart from other green teas.
This tea is very mild, almost weak. Even the water had barely any color to it after steeping. This is a good tea for someone who wants to drink green tea but doesn’t like a strong grassy flavor that is associated with green tea. I prefer a stronger green tea.
It's okay. It stands up well to multiple resteeps but it doesn't have the oomph I remember from the dragonwell I got in China. But that was also 3 years ago now, so could be my memory.
Punchy green matcha flavor, good for mornings. Not too overwhelming, but leans towards grassy.
Edit: upped the star rating bc I realized I don’t care for grassy flavor profiles, but it certainly will be someone’s new favorite
First thing I do is open bag of course to check aroma. There was none of dragon well tea should smell like. Looked at leaves and nothing like dragon well or the photo displayed. I tried one cup and no taste like dragon well tea. Thought okay maybe its me tried second cup the same. This is dragon well but very very cheap kind. I bought on amazon that had decent review and expensive as should be if good. But thought adagio would be better and not even close. Like I said good tea has a good aroma. I got white peony and white peach not attractive but very good aroma and tastes great. Then they charge you 35% disposal fee. That's wrong if they stand by there product
Love this tea! One of my favorites. Usually drink in the AM. Good with lemon and lemongrass. Good for stomach issues
Love watching the flat green leaves unfurl. It has a yellow liquor and an aroma of toasted nuts. A rich sweet slight nut flavor, with a hint of vegetal flavor. No bitterness, a bit of an astringent finish. Love this green tea.
Nice green tea for after dinner. Nice mellow flavor.
Dragonwell from Adagio is a very smooth green tea, with no astringency in the taste. I enjoy it very much!
This is my favorite green tea. Not at all bitter. 180 @ 3 minutes
Green tea flavor without they risk of being grassy. Was strong enough to drink in the morning and not feel like you are missing out on the caffeine hit that you need to get going. No strong floral or fruity undertones.
I got this for my green tea loving daughter. She enjoyed it, but it wasn’t her favorite. It had a more savory taste than she expected. It wasn’t too grassy and had a touch of nuttiness to it.
This tea is pretty good. I felt it did not have as much flavor as I would have liked. I ended up grinding it up to make it finer and then used it in my tea maker and it came out more how I like it. Having an issue finding a straight loose leave green tea that I like and don’t have to doing anything with but brew.
We would previously purchase dragonwell from Teavana and I would say that this is comparable in appearance and taste. For the price point, I could say that I'm happy with this tea, but I would love to try this variety with a 'fresher appearance' i.e. a richer colour.
This is my favorite green tea. Its very forgiving on steep time, has a sweet finish. Steeps #2 and 3 are my favorite.
It's ok. Has a mild flavor but still has a grassy taste i don't really care for. Not bad, just not my cup of tea.
A very tasty green tea! I find this to be toasty, not smoky, with a lingering twinge of bitterness. In a way the tea reminds of fresh hay, earthy and dried, with a bit of sweetness. Certainly a unique tea to try.
I brewed my Dragonwell hot with some burdock and green tea honey. This is said to be the same as the Longjing on the Masters website, but for me the only similarity was that the leaves were pressed flat. These leaves are much smaller than the ones I received in my Masters bag and they're ever so slightly minty. You can definitely taste the earthy nuttiness though. I really enjoy this tea and look forward to playing with it a little more. I would highly recommend this tea!
This is very good Dragonwell tea. Nice clean taste, good spring flavor notes. Not the best I've ever had, but might be the best I've had at this price.
A smooth and balanced cup of green tea. Delicious!
