Today's CommuniTea packet is calypso green, made of green tea, apple pieces, coconut, orange, marigold flowers, mango pieces, and coconut, peach, passionfruit and orange flavors. This is a lovely iced tea, but I'm not as sure that I'd like it hot. Tropical flavors scream cold brew to me. :-) Cold brewed in 12 ounces of water in the refrigerator for way too long, but it still turned out nice.

**Update** This tea smells so good but sadly, still grassy even at a shorter steep time. Good for me but not great. ** This blend has a nice tropical taste. I did find the green tea to be a little grassy for my taste. I will experiment with a shorter steep next time and see if that helps.

A very tropical and mellow blend. It's not incredibly fruity in the traditional sweet and tart sense. There is a strong coconut flavor, as well as hints of citrus and floral tones of mango and passion fruit. Don't know if I would call it punch-like, but it definitely gives a sense of relaxing on the beach.

Never thought coconut in a green tea would be this good. :)

Every sip reminds me of a Caribbean tropical breeze. I love green tea with passionfruit, coconut and all the other tantalizing fruits. I used honey to make the tea come alive.

Not a big green tea fan, but this was refreshing as an iced tea. I love the coconut, orange and mango together. Very tropical. 175° for 2 minutes, cooled then put on ice.

Opening the packet gave me a burst of coconut smell, with some passion fruit in the back. The tea itself is very grassy with the tropical fruit in the background

Grassy green tea with tropical vibes! Coconut and the tea take the forefront with a pleasant fruitiness of mango and passion fruit. Nice natural sweetness but adding sweetener brings elevates the fruit and pushes back the vegetal notes. Delicious!

I loved the blend of flavors in this one, not overly grassy, not overly sweet just an all-around nice blend.

I am not a huge fan of coconut, so I was a little skeptical of this blend. I steeped it hot, but then let it cool and iced it before drinking, after reading a few other reviews. The coconut was a little strong for my taste, but overall, it was a great, tropical-tasting green tea. If you like all the flavors, I can all but guarantee you'll love this.

CommuniTEA sample: today's tea just wasn't for me. The coconut and pineapple consorted together to create a tea that was most closely related to sunscreen. If you love tropical flavors give this one a try, if you don't (like me) give a wide berth.

Delicious green tea with a taste of the tropics! I very much enjoyed it!

I was very surprised by this tea! I’m not a fan of grassy green teas. When I opened the packet, I noticed a somewhat grassy smell. I brewed it at 180 for 3 minutes. When I dumped the leaves, I found that they had unfurled to be pretty large leaves, but the concerning part was that it had a strong grassy smell. Being a good sport, I wanted to at least try 2 sips. Much to my surprise, what I tasted was a nice coconut flavor that was not too strong, and maybe a very slight hint of grassiness in the background. This tea did NOT go down the drain and I’m enjoying trying something different.

I could not taste (or smell) this due to allergies. So I shared it with a friend. She really enjoyed all the tropical flavors. She did not think the coconut was too overpowering and really liked the mango highlights. She said I could share this with her again.

I absolutely adore peaches and peach flavoring of tea so this cuppa was perfection to me. I tasted very little of the coconut but I am sure it was there to smooth the fruits into one blended cuppa.

Normally I like tea with coconut but the combination of strong coconut, green tea and tropical fruit flavors reminds me way to much of sunscreen. This one is just not for me!

This is a nice green tea that doesn’t have grassy flavors. The coconut and pineapple gives it a Caribbean feel. Very refreshing!

Such a yummy tropical blast. I had my first brew hot but much preferred my second cold, steeped over night. This would make a refreshing summer cold brew blend.

Coconut is the prominent flavor in this cup, which isn't my favorite, but it works well with the other fruity flavors in this blend. Better iced than hot - the fruity flavors come out more. If you like coconut, you'll like this tea!

Oh, this is nice! I don’t normally gravitate toward tropical flavors, but this blend is a winner. Coconut, fruity, and I appreciate that it has a real tea base instead of being merely herbal.

This has a decent amount of flavor. I only picked up the passionfruit, but that's okay because I love passionfruit!

Update: I definitely pick up on the peach and coconut now. Very tasty!

Great tropical vibes with the coconut leading followed by a sweet peachy finish. I drank this hot and without any additives needed. I would love to try this iced and with sweetener next time, ideally on a tropical beach🏝 . 3 min @ 180

This is a terrific green tea flavored with fruit and coconut. I mostly tasted the fruit but am sure the coconut was part of the whole delicious experience! I steeped at 175 degrees for 3 minutes and added raw honey to bring out the flavors.

I rarely enjoy green tea blends but i like the tropical flavors in Calypso Green. I am more of a green tea purist but I can appreciate what the blenders have created in this blend. Its like a summer vacay in a cup

This is a magnificant summer splash...Fruity with not too too much Coconut. A perfect balance of the Green realm of Tea and medley of Paradisial notes..Enjoyed this hot, very much-- but this seems like it would be a dream--ICED, as well. Definitely will be imbibing this in the warmth of the Sun's Rays.

I love, love, love coconut, and I never realized how well it would go with green tea. Excuse me while I buy more of this right away!

CommuniTEA portion:. Cold brew. Aroma was very tropical to me. Coconut was prominent as was the fruit. I honestly didn't get a lot of the green tea taste (which I'm missing). And one of the fruits, possibly the passionfruit, wasn't appealing to me on the end. Still would enjoy this as a lovely summer sip.

Being that green teas and coconut are usually a miss for me, I expected this blend to fare poorly. I was relieved to find that it was actually ok. The fruit flavors combined well, without completely masking the flavor of the green tea. If you are a fan of green tea and coconut you’ll probably love this.

When I opened the CT bag, I did a little dance because it smelled so good! There is a slight orange tang and the coconut comes through quite well. The other flavors drowned out but I was ok with that! :)

Creamy coconut predominates and supports a collection of tropical fruit flavors. This a great and refreshing green tea, even forgiving for different water types and temps.

Without the coconut, this tea might be quite tasty. With the coconut, I’m thankful that the other flavors helped keep the coconut from becoming completely overbearing.

The coconut was the most prominent in this interesting cup. It was a very natural coconut flavor which was good at first, but then it started to remind me of raw pumpkin... which I couldn't get past. What an odd cup of tea. I would try it again if offered, but I would try to tweak the flavors with some sweetener or cold brew it perhaps.

Calypso green is a very nice tea, I wish there was something in between 'love it' and 'meh'. The only thing that keeps me from truly loving it is the coconut. Sometimes I enjoy that flavor but more often than not it becomes a bit cloying to me. Western brood, I enjoy this one the most when it was hot. As it cooled, the coconut came forward and I backed up.

Not thrilled with this one. Can't put my finger on it, but the combo of flavors just doesn't work.

★★★☆☆

The flavorings on this green tea were OK, not terribly strong or very forward. There was a little bit too much bitterness from something in there that did not mesh well with the rest of the flavors but it was not bitter enough to prevent you from drinking it.

★★★★★

Sooo good. This may be one of my favorite flavored greens that I’ve tried in a long time. It’s a mild, fruity, tropical flavor that is great hot or iced and holds up well to at least a 2nd steeping so I can have a little caffeine boost mid-day and then a decaf cup later.

Another 'enhanced green tea' (flavors that temper the inherent grassiness) that's sure to be brewed a lot this summer.

I enjoy tropical green teas, but the calypso green is very coconut forward in a way that I found not entirely pleasant. If you like coconut in your tea, this one is probably a good choice, as I had no complaints otherwise.

I wasn't sure what to expect for this one, but I was interested in trying some new flavored green teas. The first cup intrigued me, but by the second, third and more cups, I was sold. Delightfully citrusy without any of the grassy flavors usually associated with green tea.

As a big fan of coconut tea, this one quickly charmed me. All accents carry through from beginning to end with light, breezy notes. Tropical elements (particularly the passionfruit and mango) float near the surface while the coconut provides a soft but firm base (much like sand on a beach) of smooth, buttery fuzziness. The earthy green flavor isn't too forward, which makes this a great choice for newcomers. Perfect for putting yourself in a charming, exotic headspace of tranquility.
