1/27/21 This is as close to hot chocolate in a tea as you can get. It is delightfully indulgent with some cream and sugar. It just makes my mouth sing “Hallelujah” and perfect for drinking something warm on a winter day.

This one was interesting. The chocolate was definitely noticeable but the caramel didn't show up really at all. I don't think chocolate teas are for me but this one was better than the tea earlier this CommuniTEA week that had chocolate in it. I didn't get much bitterness. It was alright without anything added but sugar made it more pleasant. The resteep was much weaker which made it less enjoyable, but still alright. Sugar made it better like the first cup. I steeped both cups for 3 minutes at water below boiling. This one would be a decent buy if I liked chocolate teas.

Smells heavenly just out of the Communitea packet. Nicely astringent, as a good Ceylon should be. A little rock sugar helps bring out the caramel and chocolate. It will also tame the astringency if you aren't fond of strong black teas.

The chocolate flavors pretty much overshadows the caramel and vanilla notes in this blend. Not too bad but not my favorite.

This is delicious. Good alone, great with sugar, perfection with a touch of milk. It's going in my cart now.

A great pick if you like the sound of chocolate-caramel tea. A touch of sugar and some milk make it decadent. Tried with CommuniTEA.

Delicious tea! I recommend a splash of sweetened cream and enjoying along with chocolate!

At first steep I tried it without anything added but it was bitter so I added some stevia and it was a lot better. Chocolate was softer and the nutty flavor came out. Then I put a bit of Almond milk. Wow the taste was like a candy that melted stellar flavor to my mouth. Great. Loved it !! 💗💗💗💗💗

Well this one ended up being a disappointment for me. It smelled very good, but it came out quite bitter, even after being steeped at 200 degrees F for 3 minutes. Maybe my palette hasn't acclimated to this type of black tea?

This was tried within the communiTEA box. I typically don’t enjoy chocolate teas, but this one isn’t bad. There were enough other flavors present to complement the chocolate and round out the overall presentation of this tea.

★★★★☆

At smell, one word: chocolate! At taste: it's more delicate because of the bitterness. But the chocolate is present in the aftertaste with a little bit caramel. The vanilla makes this mixture a bit creamy. I like it.

I really liked this one. Dark chocolate scent warm inviting me to make a Tea Latte (big surprise, I know) its my prefered method of ingesting black tea. I love chocolate i love Tea. Its a winner. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA January Box.

Generally I'm not a fan of chocolate in tea and it has to have other flavors coming through to make me like it. This tea is very chocolatey and thus very 'meh' for me.

I steeped for 3 minutes around 185-190F to keep the tea from getting bitter. It makes a gorgeous deep red tea that wafts chocolate throughout the room. I was expecting a more even chocolate to caramel ratio, but chocolate really dominates here (maybe I got a few extra cocoa nibs?). It's a rich flavor, with a slight hint of the bitterness you get from dark chocolate. You can indulge in some cream and sugar for a more milk chocolate experience, which is nice. The black tea provides a smooth base and adds to the overall richness without being overwhelmed by chocolate.

This tea isn't bad enough for me to dump the cup, but I won't be doing a second steep. If you love chocolate flavor this is a great choice as you can enjoy it plain or dress it up with some steamed milk.

OMG, what a surprisingly beautiful orange color upon brewing! But I get ahead of myself. This tea smells so decadent when opening the packet with its chocolate aromas, and this time the caramel isn't lost. I barely had the patience to wait for this to brew so I could 'dig' in, so to speak! I knew this would be good with a touch of sweetener and just a splash of cream as they bring out the best in chocolate and caramel flavors, and I was not disappointed. This is dessert in a cup. It reminds me a little bit of Milk Duds. This one is definitely worth putting on the FAVE list and buying if you love the taste of chocolate covered caramel candies.

I purchased this tea back In Nov 2018, but never wrote a review. This is my 27 Jan 2021 communiTEA review:

As far as I could tell, everybody was present and ready for action in my communiTEA packet this afternoon. The cocoa nibs were getting excited! Dark chocolate aromas were noted.

I did a 200ºF steep to help stave off any bitterness from the Ceylon Black tea. I pulled the steep at 3 minutes and 30 seconds because the tastes were getting a little bitter (probably from the cocoa nibs & tea.)

When hot, vanilla flavors were mild. No caramel flavors were noted at his point. Mildly bitter unsweetened cocoa nib flavors were noted. I added some sugar in hopes of masking this and to bring out some sweet caramel flavors.

When warm, a really nice overall dark chocolate flavor was noted. Pleasantly sweet & buttery caramel flavors were moderate. The vanilla added a nice milky smoothness to the deal.

Towards the end, the tea conspired with the chocolate dudes to intensify the overall chocolaty goodness. I thought I was drinking a Milky Way candy bar by the time I had my last sip, very nice! The 2nd steep was milder in taste, but still pleasant. (3 mins 30 secs @ 200ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)

This tea is a hidden gem! I LOVE the combination of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel! It's simply wonderful. I have the different tea flavors in separate bags already, but I would consider buying this anyway since the particular blend is so delicious. Each flavor is present and none of the flavors overpower the others. I have nothing negative to say about this tea - I love it! It's one I could probably drink every day.

I was unsure about this one as I am with most chocolate teas, as the 'natural chocolate flavor' tends to read as pretty fake for my tastes. The cocoa nibs in this blend help, but don't completely make up for that artificial taste. The aroma of this tea is brewing heavy with caramel notes, moreso than either the chocolate or vanilla. The flavor, however, is much more chocolate heavy, in a slightly fake 'scented marker' type of way. It's not undrinkable by any means, but I think I would prefer to just mix the chocolate truffle and caramel teas myself.

I love caramel and chocolate combinations. I found the caramel to be much more pronounced than the chocolate in this blend. I added a smidge of milk, no sweetener, and had a great cup of tea.

This looks like a favorite of many and I see it featured in numerous blends, but I found it very meh. It smells of delicious caramel, but much like Valentines, it seems very one note. A lot of punchy chocolate and caramel flavored forward notes with no further depth.

When I opened mu communiTEA packet I was reminded or See's Orange creams. I have tried this twice now, plain and with milk and sugar. I want to like this tea. The idea and flavors are good. what holds me back is there is a coffee taste to it. :(

Part of the January 2021 CommuniTEA box. I swear I’m sipping on Rolo candy! The flavors just melt together in such a creamy and indulgent way.

I usually shy away from any tea with a cocoa flavor. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but chocolate doesn't belong in tea in my world. However, I was not put-off by this particular tea. The aroma made me a little leery, but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. The cocoa flavor is mild and works well with the tea. I still probably wouldn't buy it, but it's made me more willing to try chocolaty teas.

A pleasant black tea with hints of caramel and chocolate. Idyllic

★★★★★

An absolutely wonderful scent escapes the package as I open it! All I can see in my packet are tea leaves, so I brew it up at 200 degrees for 3 minutes. A lovely shade of reddish/brown tea with an incredible aroma- rich and sweet smelling. The taste is lovely, caramel tones with hints of cocoa coming through, although there is just a touch of bitterness. Adding just a splash of cream makes this very decadent and desert-like. This is a very nice tea, but this one can easily turn bitter if left for too long. I think this tea would also make a very nice latte! I think I'll order a sample bag so I can play with it and try it in different ways.

For some reason, no matter how I slice it, this tea is bitter for me. I steeped at a lower temperature (195) and drank it black. Second steep, I brewed at same temperature and added cream and sugar. Although the cream and sugar helped some, it was still bitter tasting.

This is a nice flavored black tea if you like chocolately teas. Has a strong chocolate aroma, with a milder taste but still predominant notes of cocoa with swirls of caramel. It was a little too bitter for me on its own, so I would try steeping at a lower temperature next time. I enjoyed it more with cream and sugar. (212° for 3 minutes)

The chocolate was the only saving grace. With a little sugar the chocolate stood out more prominently. With a little milk, it decreased the bitter black tea

Strong smell of caramel from my CommuniTea packet. Black teas are my favorite and I will definitely add this one to my list. So smooth with flavor or chocolate and caramel. The caramel flavor is stronger to me then the chocolate. Added rock sugar and small amount of sweet cream.

This tea has the aroma of hot chocolate. The flavor of Salted Carmel and roasted nuts. What more could a tea lover with a sweet tooth ask for? I'm in heaven!

Review based on CommuniTEA packet: This is a decadent cup of tea, even with no sweetener added. On the nose I get mainly caramel-honey notes with a little vanilla. When I take a sip, vanilla and bittersweet chocolate show up with a caramel finish. This tea is not sweet, but it reminds you of dark, chocolate dessert. Steeping this tea for 2:30 mins at 190° F tames the bitter tannins and allows for the blooming of the chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Adagio's description matches the tea.

For me, I don’t think chocolate tea will ever quite cut it... a hint of chocolate just isn’t enough. I was ready to give this tea a 3/5 because I was getting coffee vibes more than anything (and I don’t like coffee), but when I added a spoonful of sweetened condensed milk, I enjoyed it much more. Still tasting caramel much more than chocolate though. It could be a nice tea to drink while eating chocolate perhaps. Great to try, don’t plan to buy.

Quite bitter without sweetener, but once sweetener is added, it becomes a lovely chocolate caramel treat.

Can really taste the symphony of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel in this one, but is very sweet. I like it, but it's not a flavor profile I'd want to consume in the morning and doesn't make sense (caffeine wise) as a dessert tea.

I love the color of this tea! Warm translucent orange. I noticed the caramel and smooth black base. I didn’t taste the chocolate as much. The taste is sweet and deep. I did use a bit of almond milk creamer and a touch of honey, the two components really enhance the caramel flavor and depth of the tea.

Chocolatea and delicious, this tea is like a nice choccy milk when milk is added. I was expecting more caramel and black tea flavors, but I'm super happy with what I got!

Great CommuniTEA packet this rainy morning. The aroma, the taste! If you like caramel and chocolate, this one is a thumbs up. Perfect with a little rock sugar and cream. Will definitely order more of this one.

Opening my CommuniTEA packet, I noticed the mouthwatering aroma of chocolate and caramel. I allowed for an extra couple of minutes of steep time for about 6 minutes (mostly because I was too engrossed in a book); however, that did not cause the tea to become bitter or the flavor to be muddled. Carmel colored, the scent of a nutty chocolate tea greeted me. The flavor is rich and roasted with coffee and chocolate on the back end. It's incredibly smooth to drink. I had mine without any additives; however, I think this would be lovely with milk or cream. This one is going to be added into my rotation for sure!

This is one of my favorite components in signature blends, so I was really excited to try it on its own. When I opened my CommuniTEA packet this morning, the smell was FABULOUS, like the smell of a Milky Way bar after you've taken a bite and exposed the caramel and nougat.

The flavor is milder than the aroma would suggest, but that's how it generally is, in my experience, with black teas. That doesn't change the fact that there are definitely the distinct flavors of chocolate and caramel mingled within. I'm tempted to add a nip of vanilla cashew milk and a couple of sugar rocks to draw the flavors out even more, but honestly, this tea doesn't need any additives, in my opinion.

The first sip, while very hot, tasted like scorched caramel. As it cooled a bit the scorched flavor subsided and the richness of the chocolate and caramel came out. Truly a decadent cup.

Today’s communiTea was a black tea blend that had my mouthwatering, as it steeped. My packet had all ingredients with enough for two steeps at 200F for 3mins. So pretty, Right before my eyes, in my glass kettle, a beautiful, rich caramel goodness. Each sip, introduced a rich, roasted taste, hmm almost a smoky nuttiness. As that taste lingers, hints of caramel, chocolate and vanilla flavors created a delicious candy bar effect on my tongue. YUM! I first tried this plain, but my cuppa seemed to be calling for tad of frothy (homemade) almond milk topped with a drizzle of elderberry honey. What a delicious black tea, perfect as latte’, well caramel candy bar latte without the sugar. (Steeped 2x 3 mins @ 200F)
