I received this as a gift with the Sweet Tooth Sampler pack, and finally tried. Followed brewing instructions (212*F, approx. 3minutes), and tastes great, a nice chocolatey flavor! Added half-n-half and teaspoon of honey. More of a slight bitter dark chocolate at first, then ends with the vanilla (maybe a little caramel, too). Ordering more, along with Whipped Chocolate Honey to try together. Thanks to my sister for gift!

This is a really good one. I love the scent, the taste, and that it is a string cup of tea. This is one of my favorites!

My first taste of this tea reminds me of your Irish Stout minus the sugary sprinkles. It was a bit more astringent as well but maybe if I brew it a little cooler next time that will go away.

Ordered a sample pack of this. It's pretty good. Not one that rates a favorite, but not bad at all. Kind of a creamy chocolatey background taste to it. I have changed from a 4 to 5 star, simply because the last order was superb! I don't know if the one I ordered long ago was just a bad blending batch or if my taster was out of wack. But this batch is great with a good chocolate background taste. Served it at a ladies Bible study and it was enjoyed by all.

I have bought other Adagio blends that had tigers eye in them and wanted to see what it was like on its own. Delicious!

This is a solid tea that rewards the drinker with toffee-like cup with lighter chocolatey undertones. It does have an astringency to it (likely due the cocoa nibs), so be conservative with steep time if you don't want that 'dry palate' feel. For me, this needs sweetener & cream to tame that mouthfeel and round it out better, but overall it's an enjoyable cup. I do think this would benefit from some creme notes added to the blend, but have yet to experiment with that - if you happen to have some of Adagio's 'Cream' or 'Decaf Cream' varieties, you might want to try blending this at home for additional richness and complexity.

First found this tea at a small local shop and when they stopped carrying it I found this online shop. I rationed this tea for years and when I ran out I went on a search to find it again. It does not need sugar to be absolutely a delight to the taste buds. With chocolate, and a sweet caramel undertone it is my personal favorite black tea.

One of the new favorite teas in my household. Extremely rich and nutty, add cream and sugar and it's the perfect coffee replacement.

At first sip I tasted very little besides the black tea, but as it began to cool, the other flavors became more evident. I noticed the caramel and cream flavors more than the chocolate, but it was there in the background. I enjoyed this tea, but it wasn’t a “wow” experience for me. Still, very nice.

This tea came to me as part of a sweet tooth sampler. I loved it so much I purchased the larger quantity. I wanted a delectable tea that would make me feel as if I was enjoying a sweet treat, and this one hit the spot.

I can tell why this is a favorite but I’m trying to find a tea for good iced tea and it’s too subtle when cold. I may enjoy it hot

Without a doubt, the best tea I have EVER tasted. I need to buy this in bulk. I have a big sweet tooth, and I hate the bitterness in coffee. Brewing this overnight in the fridge & adding some sugar to my cup in the morning makes this absolutely amazing.

Reminiscent of one of my other favorite Adagio Teas - Irish Stout. It is strong and earthy, but grounded with cream flavors. Very nice!

Great flavored tea to start your day off right. It has a unique flavor, not too much, but just enough to make you want another cup.

★★★☆☆

Everyone raves about the flavor of this tea but I was disappointed. There is a bit of flavor there, which is fine, not all teas need to punch you in the mouth with their taste, but if someone served this to me and told me it was straight black tea with a bit of honey I would agree. Smooth tea, no bitterness. Glad I tried it, and I'll finish it, but will move on to others after that

Caramel is in the forefront followed by a chocolate and cream mid taste and finally a black tea finish. Very nice tea, the flavors meld together as the tea cools.

Love this tea! The flavors play wonderfully together and it makes a strong, bold cup. A great tea for when you want a stronger tea with some flavor complexity. Resteeps 1-2 times ok.

2024 update: This one is still as amazing as I remember it. I tried it with rock sugar this time, and that brings the chocolate flavors right to the front. It tastes a lot like my favorite chocolate candies, but with tea added.

2019 review: This tea is perfect if you like super dark chocolates in the 80 to 90 percent cacao range. The caramel and vanilla cut right through the normal bitterness of super darks, making it really stand out.

Nice aroma from the dry tea leaves. 2 min @ 165. Mostly just a black tea flavor, not getting caramel and chocolate. I'd probably make this iced if I had it again.

I've tried this tea plain, with honey, with honey and cream, with cream and sugar, and it's a lovely black tea. It's a strong black tea on it's own with light caramel and chocolate notes, almost like toffee, and isn't too sweet for daytime drinking. A bit of sweetener brings those notes out pleasantly. A touch of cream makes the caramel purr and turns this into a decadent treat to go with pastry... Or to have instead of actual chocolate and caramel

This tea was my introduction to Adagio Teas several years ago and I was an instant fan. Chocolate and Caramel are two of my favorite flavors and the balance between them with the delicious tea hits the spot.

Updated 01/31/24: After much trial and error over the years I’ve found a heaping teaspoon to 12oz water at 195F for a scant 3min (and no more, very important) is the sweet spot for a balanced cup in my opinion.
02/07/22: Not sure what temperature I was using in my first review but 12oz of 195F water and some rock sugar goes a long way to help define the chocolate and caramel flavors. Without a creamer this tea is still very bold and dark, which is not necessarily a bad thing and might be what I’m looking for at times. This is easy to oversteep, though, and the vanilla smells artificially thick.
Original review: I’m a bit sad to say I didn’t taste the chocolate. This could be due to a discrepancy in my CommuniTEA packet (one bit of cocoa nib visible) or it could be my fault. I did not measure out the contents. Often there’s more than the 1tsp recommended per 8oz cup in the packet. I put the whole packet in my infuser for a 10oz cup. I normally prefer strong black tea but in this case I did get a taste less like tea and more like coffee. I added a tsp rock sugar and even a splash of milk per CommuniTEA chat but that seemed to amplify the coffee effect for me. I tried a second steep for an extra 2min which was weaker but more palatable. Sorry to say this didn’t work out for me as I was excited to try it. I might give it another shot in the future and update this review.

I've been wanting to try this tea for a long time! Caramel and chocolate notes were present, but as others have said, they were subtle. Still a good black tea with flavorful flavors :)

This tea does not yield flavors as sharp as I might expect from a tea named 'tiger eye.' Yes, there are chocolate notes, and yes, there are subtle sweet caramel notes, but they both seem muddied, even with the addition of sweetener. Though the chocolate is more prominent and the caramel brings a sweetness to the tea, I don't get a very strong sense of either flavor. That's okay - there's nothing wrong with subtlety - but it's not what I expect. (3 minutes @ 200F)

I like caramel. I love chocolate. But I don't necessarily adore them together. That being said, I didn't even taste chocolate in this blend. It was a cup of pure, unadulterated sweet caramel; and it was mighty gooooood! The vanilla came to play on the cool down, and a slight bitterness began to set in, which I believe was the chocolate. Too late, cup was two sips away from empty. A decent tea, but not one I would put on repeat often.

This blend has a rich and sweet aroma that will seduce your nose and a smooth and creamy taste. The black tea base gives this blend a deep and satisfying flavor, enhanced by a layer of caramel and chocolate goodness that will delight your sweet tooth. The vanilla and chocolate enhance the smoothness and the sweetness of this blend, creating a heavenly balance of flavors.

A bold tea flavor with malted flavors of caramel and chocolate coming through. Bitter notes even with only 3 minutes of steeping. The vanilla flavor gets lost in the chocolate and bitterness. I like this tea, but it’s definitely not one of my favorites. Maybe the bitterness could be offset if it was blended with a milder flavor like crème.

This is the fifth time I've ordered Tiger Eye. The chocolate flavor is delicious, and the tea is smooth and silky. The amount (volume) of tea is well priced. Don't brew it for more than four
minutes as it begins to become bitter for longer brewing times

I enjoyed a sample of this tea, it's good, but I not as good as the straight up Caramel tea or the Thai Chai. There are only so many teas I can have on hand, or they go to waste in the cupboard. Tiger eye doesn't make the cut for me.

This tea makes a tasty dessert tea or midday treat. I definitely noticed the chocolate notes most prominently, but it was an enjoyable drink, especially with a splash of almond milk.

Very good balance of chocolaty and caramel flavours. Not a perfect 5-star as I found it needed a few more cacao nibs for the optimal experience. Would recommend a Selefina sample size of them to be added to a sample size bag of this for the perfect ratio.

This is a very nice tea for a change of pace. Nice aroma and mild flavor. Definitely a teas to keep in the pantry for those times when I want something a little different. Just a touch of chocolate

★★★★★

I love this tea! It was the first I got to try from Adagio, and from the smell I wasn't expecting it to have any tea flavor at all. As it is, the chocolate/caramel/tea flavors blend amazingly, and I will absolutely be getting more when my sample bag runs out. PS also pretty impressed with the sample size. I'm not sure if I'm putting the recommended amount of tea in my cup or not, but that tiny sample bag is going to give me a few good cups at least.

★★★★☆

I don't normally like teas with chocolate flavor, but I like this one. It's a little sweetcreamy from the caramel and vanilla, which is smoothing and removes some of the bite you sometimes get from chocolate teas. You can tell that most of the chocolate flavor is from flavoring (as opposed to actual chocolate), but I actually far prefer that to blends I've had with real chocolate in them. It's not pretending to be hot chocolate, it's a chocolate-flavored tea, and I appreciate that.

I tried this tea out of curiosity. It has a mellow undertone of caramel and chocolate. For me it’s a dessert tea and enjoy it after dinner or in the early afternoons..sometimes I blend it with Black Cherry tea to satisfy my cravings for those flavors instead of eating sugary dessert..
