Summer Rose Customer Reviews

Our Summer Rose tea invokes the sweet lingering fragrance of late summer roses winding up a garden trellis. Mellow and deliciously floral, this rose tea is balanced with the bright briskness of a Ceylon black tea.

I am in love with rose-anything, and this tea thrilled me the moment I opened the pouch--just smells beautiful. Doesn't taste fake to me at all! One of my favorites (:

★★★☆☆

It's nice and rosey. It's not a bad tea. Just isn't for me.

★★★★☆

Not quite as light as other rose teas I've had, but I can't resist. Smells delicious while brewing!

★★★★★

I have been on the hunt for a rose tea to match what I found in Nuoro, Sardinia in 2007 and I think this might just do it. This tea can also be blended in equal proportion with Adagio's cream tea for a delicious cup.

★★★★☆

Not bad. This tea was very light and the ceylon worked really well with the rose.

★★★★★

First off the aroma is wonderful. I didn't need to steep it as long as the directions called for. Needed very little sugar. Very nice cup.

★★★★☆

I admit I was really excited for this tea, but I got a sample of it just in case. Now I'm glad I did, the rose flavor is not at all prominent in this tea. It's there, but it's more of a suggestion than the focal point. Still, it's a nice cup of Ceylon, and I enjoyed drinking it, but I would recommend looking elsewhere for that rosy cup.

Add a little sugar and some milk and you'll have a little cup of heaven. It really does taste like summer, and of course like rose, and it just a delight to drink. Particularly with the winter we've had this year!

★★★★☆

I brewed this hot on a day after we'd had our 3rd snowfall in 7 days, to combat the frozen tundra that is everywhere outside. This is a bright black tea with a strong rose scent but a comparatively mild rose taste. Floral but not overwhelmingly so. I liked it.

★★★★☆

This tea is delightful and flowery. Makes me feel super girly. Tastes just like roses. Love it!

★★★★★

I am a huge fan of rose based teas and this one was delicious. An amazing tea

★★★☆☆

This wasn't really bad, but I feel like the rose flavor was overpowered by the black tea. I'd like to try it with a lighter tea.

★★★★☆

This tea is so fairylike. The rose scent in the bag is perfect! It mellows out a bit after steeping. The floral taste of this tea is very subtle, in my opinion. it's somehow a flavor you smell as much as taste, if that makes any sense at all. This is very pleasant with a bit of sweetener.

Basic floral flavor, which while good on its own is better when blended with something else.

Everything's coming up roses! Heh, yeah, yeah...how many other reviews of this tea have started out with that, I wonder? :P Anyway, I actually purchased a sampler of this one for a friend who really likes rose flavor in a variety of things, but I did want to try it myself. I'm not nearly as much of a rose fan as she is, but I find myself pleasantly surprised by this tea. The rose isn't as overpowering as I'd anticipated, but instead gives it a lovely, albeit obvious, floral aroma coupled with a not-bitter tangy twist. If not for the fact that rose just isn't on my list of favorite flavors (nor my favorite scents...it's a tad too perfumey), then I might have rated this tea higher. As it is, it's worth a sampler, at least.

Drink this tea, and you will be whisked to a summer garden, full of rose bushes of all colors. Or just one color, if that's what you prefer. This is a relaxing, floral tea that's great for those days when you want to escape to your favorite botanical garden. Has great flavor, too (though don't ask me what rose actually tastes like. I don't know).

It reminded me of those Potpourri pouches you'd put in your clothing drawers.

★★★★☆

Good, though a bit to 'perfume-y' for my taste. You really can taste the rose in this one, and the smell while brewing is reminiscent of a rose garden.

In the bag, it smelled VERY strongly of rose, so I was a bit worried. However, once brewed, most of the floral flavor dissipated, leaving a hint of a garden on the finish. The flavors don't blend together particularly well, though. it's more like 'ceylon tea, THEN rose' rather than 'ceylon tea AND rose.'

UPDATE: Bumped up to four stars because it is kind of growing on me! Letting it cool off a bit helps a lot. I may try it iced when summer comes around. Also looking forward to trying it in some blends.

I admit, I'm not always the hugest fan of black teas (especially Ceylon), so I put off trying this one for a while, despite being a huge fan of rose AND having used summer rose in just about every tea in my Utena series (for obvious reasons .). It was a foolish of me to let it go for so long, and my worries about the Ceylon drowning out the rose were entirely unfounded. This is simply a heavenly balance between Adagio's excellent Ceylon and soft, fragrant rose.I am looking forward to blending with this some more!

This tea is perfect if you like floral teas. The rose taste is not overwhelming at all but it also isn't too light. I find I like this tea best when I am relaxing in the evening after getting home from work.

★★★★★

The scent alone is amazing. The tea itself is a solid black with a faint floral flavor. The rose flavor is light, but still noticeable.

★★★★★

This is a great start to my tea blending adventure.

★★★★★

I tried this one out of curiosity more than anything and was actually surprised by how much I liked it. More than one cup on its own gets a little overbearing and it can get a bit of an artificial air-freshener-like aftertaste if oversteeped, but I find that I really like this mixed with the cream tea or something vanilla flavored. It's just as fancy and frilly as it sounds, and I love it!

★★★★★

Smells like a rose garden in a cup, but the floral taste isn't overpowering and complements the tea perfectly.

★★★☆☆

i'm usually a 'rose' fan but i don't love this. it smells too much like perfume and if you let it steep too long it will taste like perfume as well. beware what you're getting into.

★★★★★

this tea is just great! it was my first floral tea and it exceeded my expectations. definitely will be buying more!

I tried this more out of curiosity than anything else. Another customer said it tasted like what a fairy tale princess would drink and when I tasted it, I understood why. The taste makes me think of rose petal china and little girls in fancy dresses. Simply lovely. The rose flavor isn't overpowering like I expected it to be.

★★★★★

I was curious about how a rose flavoured tea would taste like and this one was actually quite nice, a lot nicer than I expected.

★★★★☆

Other reviewers weren't kidding when they said this one is floral! But overall I do enjoy it. Not sure if I'll order a bigger size when the sample runs out, though.

★★★★★

This tea smells like roses in a garden and has nice taste which it also just as good iced.

★★★★★

This is one of my FAVORITE Adagio brews because it is enjoyable in both cold and hot weather. The aroma of rose is slightly strong when the package is first opened, but it tones down when the tea is actually brewed. The tea works beautifully with a bit of sugar and milk as a hot morning treat, and it can be combined with fruit teas in the summer for a refreshing twist on iced tea. I think this tea works well because the rose aroma gives the tea a slightly creamy mouth feel without being too sweet or too floral.

★★★☆☆

This has such a lovely subtle smell in the bag. I shared this with some ladies in the office. We all enjoyed the taste. I will keep a small sample size on hand when I'm looking for something different.

I'm a big fan of floral flavors, and was really excited to receive this tea. The scent when I opened the bag was heavenly but intense. After steeping, the flavor was mellow and smooth. This tea is perfect for morning and afternoons. I tend to steep my teas a bit long, and I love the way this one doesn't get bitter if I let it sit a bit longer.

I love this tea. I prefer it iced rather than hot though.

★★★★☆

This tea has a very nice rose taste to it, and the black tea kind of balances it out so it's not an overpowering one.

★★★★★

This is absolutely wonderful. One of the best teas I've had honestly. i adore this blend and would highly recommend it to anyone.

★★★★☆

The first time I tried this tea, I didn't get a very strong rose taste. For me, the black tea overpowered the rose. However, when I brewed a second cup I steeped it a little longer and added some sugar and a splash of milk. The rose came through much more. It was delicious, if not a tea that I would drink every day.

★★★☆☆

The rose isn't entirely overpowering and thankfully it's not terribly sweet. Still, it has a lovely aroma.

It smells like perfume of a very potent and unpleasant sort, and tastes like the same perfume admixed with Ceylon. My kitchen smelled like this tea until I sealed the bag away in a box.

This tasted quite lovely. I wasn't certain if I would like the taste (just because I love the sight and smell of roses means nothing), but it is very nice. It makes me nostalgic drinking it in the winter. why can't it be summer again?! Soft enough to do without sugar and milk in my opinion, even, but not too mild to leave you wanting more.

★★★★★

I really enjoyed this floral black tea. This tea has a mild sweetness, with a incredible rosy scent and flavor.

★★★★★

Smells like an English rose garden but a light flavor, not overwhelming.

★★★★★

I LOVE this tea! I'm always looking for rose-flavored things to try. I was a little skeptical with it being a black tea rather than herbal, but the rose was very strong and blends well with other teas like Cream and an old blend of blueberry and strawberry I had lying around.

Very very rosy. If I over brew it, it turns bitter

★★★★☆

I love this tea any time of year. It smells as good as it tastes.

★★★★★

I really enjoy floral flavors, and this tea is ideal. It's difficult to find rose-flavored anything where I am, but this is grand. Lovely rosy smell that translates to a very present, though not overwhelming, rose flavor. Best with a little cream to bring out the flavor.

On the plus side, this is the first rose tea that didn't make me immediately gag and pour out my cup. On the minus side, it didn't taste like much of anything other than Ceylon tea. It smelled like roses while dry and in-bag, but very mellow. I was uber excited to finally try a soft rose tea, but again, it didn't taste like much of anything other than straight tea, not even after adding sugar. (And this while using 1 Tbs of loose tea for 12oz of water, so one would expect a strong flavor.) If this were stronger, it would be lovely to mix with almond tea.

Updated Review: I changed my rating from okay to good, with the condition that this tea be cold-brewed. Cold-brewed, it is lovely and tangy and floral without being overpowering. Now this I could grow to love. I like it so much plain that I haven't bothered with sweeteners or milk/cream. This smells exactly like the rose water I use in baking, so gentle and sweet. Brewed with boiling water, still plain. Ah well, I'll take iced.

★★★★★

Delicate and floral. Everything a rose tea should be.

★★★☆☆

It's an OK tea. nothing special. the rose flavor is pretty noticeable but the black tea used seems to be of inferior quality.
