Raspberry Customer Reviews

Crisp black tea with playful raspberry flavor. Candy-like aroma, jammy flavor, tangy dry finish, not too 'cheeky.'

I really wanted to love this tea, but it was strong and too overpowering for me. Tart and bitter. I like the raspberry green tea much better. If you are big black tea fan...give it a try.

A lovely, strong raspberry aroma escaes the packet. The ceylon leaves are small and furled. A few pieces of raspberry and raspberry leaves stand out.

The hot tea (3 min @212) smells like a freshly bitten chocolate covered raspberry from Bissinger's in St Louis. It is slightly better, full of floral raspberry, and perfect sipped plain.

I am not often a fan of flavored teas, but I will buy this one.

I ws hesitant to try this. In the past I've found other raspberry twas too tart or bitter. This was just the right amount of sweet without any bitterness. I made it at 180 versus the 212 and steeped for 3

This tea smelled so good in the packet - rich raspberry ready to brighten up my day. I steeped for 3 minutes at a lower temperature (190ish) as usual to combat astringency from the black tea. Still my cup ended up shockingly bitter.

Now I often like a little bitterness in a tea, and sometimes oversteep my earl greys looking for that flavor, so this had to be very bitter to be too much for me. I see that other people picked the raspberry leaves out of their tea, so those are the likely culprits of the bitter taste. But I shouldn't have to remove some ingredients in order to make a tea palatable, especially since I've had other raspberry black teas that were delicious on their own.

I did a second steep with some sugar and that was toned down into an alright tea. I definitely feel let down by this tea though. I suspect the only hope for it is as a cold-brew (leaves + room temp water, leave in the fridge overnight).

I’ve never had this raspberry tea before but I love the raspberry green blend so I’m willing to try any raspberry-heavy Adagio blend. This one isn’t absolutely delicious, though raspberry green still holds the spot for my favorite raspberry tea. It’s sweet but a little astringent which I feel helps balance out the sweetness. Overall a very good hot tea and undoubtedly an amazing iced tea as well.

I like the way this tea smells more than I liked the taste. I believe the raspberry leaves give it a slightly chocolate flavor when combined with the black tea. I prepared this slightly under boiling temp for 3 minutes. It was not bitter as others have said, but it wasn't my favorite flavor profile. It was OK.

This is an excellent tea and stands out among raspberry black teas I've tried from other vendors due to its vibrant fruity flavor that tastes fresh instead of artificial or medicinal. I brewed 1 teaspoon in 10 ounces of boiling spring water for 3 mins and appreciated that the raspberry flavor was slightly more prominent than the tea flavor. My mom who tasted it with me boiled the tea in 4 ounces of tap water for 3 mins and was disappointed by how strong the tea taste was and how light the raspberry was in comparison. She still didn't get much flavor even after adding milk and sugar and was a bit disappointed. In comparison, I'm on my 3rd brew of the same leaves and still loving the flavor. Conclusion: brew less tea in more water to fully appreciate this blend, and quality of water probably makes a big difference in how much flavor comes through.

I'm sad that I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, but it's still a tasty tea.

After reading the previous reviews, I fished out the excess raspberry leaves from my packet. I think it did tone down the bitterness, but unfortunately also toned down the raspberry flavor, which is much stronger on the nose and almost nonexistant in taste to me. Thankfully, what raspberry flavor does remain is very natural, no artificial raspberry to be found. I added a pinch of sugar and dollop of cream in hopes of enhancing the fruit, which is distinctively tart on the back of the tongue, like a true raspberry is. The black tea is smooth and compliments nicely.

I might purchase a sample of this one to play around with it and see what the best way of steeping is. I somehow feel I did not get the full effect by following directions of 212F for 3 mins.

Wonderful raspberry scent from the bag. Happy to say after a 3 minute steep there were wonderful raspberry flavours as well. I will buy some of this tea.

Got in my communitea pack. I really dislike raspberry, but a friend of mine loves it and said the tea was nice enough, but she probably wouldn't buy it.

I really liked this one. I think the raspberry comes through more as scent than a taste. I added sugar which is how I usually drink my tea. I've got try it iced and with chocolate next.

Tried with CommuniTEA. The dry leaves smelled really lovely, bright and fruity. But brewed the raspberry flavor did not come through very well. The tea was kind of bitter, and had a metallic taste (I think the raspberry leaves did that).

Great tea! Love that splash of raspberry flavor, but not overpowering. Tastes of natural raspberries, not chemical or flowery. My go-to morning tea. To mix things up, I will brew 1 tsp of this tea with 1 tsp of Chocolate Truffle. Yum!

I must have brewed incorrectly. I prepared mine at boiling for 4 minutes. The tea was very dark and not a cranberry pink. I thought it would taste very raspberry but I just got a bitter taste at roof of my mouth. I added sugar and milk too.

Raspberries are my favorite fruit. We had a huge bush at my grandparent's house, and being able to pick and eat them by the handful was amazing. Upon opening today's packet, I questioned the smell, as it was 'off.' After steeping, the black tea leaves smelled terrible, in my opinion, and very fake. I was hoping it would taste better than it smelled, but that was not the case. I rarely pour out a cup of tea, but this one is going down the drain.

As others have stated, this tea has very strong raspberry aromas, both dry and while steeping, but there is an underlying bitterness that comes from too many raspberry leaves. Adding extra sweetener does not remove that bitterness, either, but makes the raspberries taste fake, like candy. I still enjoyed it, but I think I would tweak it to make it more palatable, or simply design my own raspberry flavor.

The raspberry was very noticeable and overpowered any other ingredient in the tea. Closer to a Like it than a Hate it in today's CommuniTea box.

I love fruity teas, but I haven't been too impressed with Adagio's black fruity teas. This one was better than a lot of the others I had, but it still didn't have a particularly strong actual raspberry flavor. (3 min at 200 degrees, small amount of sugar)

I enjoyed the tea, but I also enjoy raspberries. The raspberry aroma and flavor was very strong. The tea is also quite tannic, so you really don't need to steep it for very long. If you are into raspberries, I would suggest this as a breakfast tea because of the sweetness. I don't think I would enjoy it as much in the afternoon.

Todays CommuniTea: I love a good old cup of Black Tea! This was delicious. The berry flavor was not overwhelming at all. To me the second seep was even better than the first. Very good!

I'm so glad I got to try this tea today! Raspberry is one of my favorite flavors, and black tea is my favorite variety of tea! This tea did smell slightly cough-mediciney when it was dry, but after being brewed it smelled a lot more natural. The raspberry flavor is light and subtle when you drink it hot. (My packet disappeared too fast to try this as an iced tea, but I am confident it will taste amazing cold as well, as most Adagio fruit teas do!)
This is definitely one I would choose very often - a good solid, tasty black tea! <3

Reviewing this tea based on my CommuniTEA packet today. The predominant player today in my cup is the astringent ceylon tea. I do get raspberry on the nose followed by a good waft of black tea, followed by a roundness of raspberry flavoring that gets a little sour, then moves on to a finish of astringent tea. I love a tea that lingers on the palet some after a sip and this one is tart and tannic. For those sensitive to bitter, I recommend steeping at a lower temp than recommended. In this case, I steeped 2:50 mins @ 190° F.

I love fresh raspberries and eat them most days with my breakfast! So I was very happy to have raspberry tea this morning. Unfortunately I over-steeped it by about 30 seconds, which could be why it had more tannins than I would like. I found the tea unforgiving in that way. And I made it right before a meeting, so after sipping, when I started thinking I’d like to add some sweetener to dull the bitterness and bring out more of the fruit, I unfortunately didn’t have the chance to do so before I was done with the cup. A second steep, even with less water, was quite weak. I definitely enjoyed my cup, but I’d like to give this a second try sometime with more care. Although there are so many teas to try, and so little time! I’m finding that my favorite fruity teas are oolongs rather than black tea, so perhaps I’ll look for a berry oolong.

I was a bit surprised that it wasn't too bitter, as these black tea blends tend to be.
Light fruity flavor, that is subtle yet somehow still balanced with the tea as a whole.
I still prefer the orange flavored black, but this is utterly acceptable.

This is a solid middle-of-the-road flavored black tea. I enjoyed my pot of this well enough in the January CommuniTEA, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have it again.

The raspberry flavor is nice, but it introduces a lot of bitterness and acidity to the overall flavor.

This tea smelled so good in the Communitea sample packet. I brewed this at 195 for 3 minutes and added 3/4 teaspoon of Adagio black tea honey and the flavor of the raspberries popped. Reminds me of summer. I finished the first cup in no time. This one is going in my shopping cart.

There is a raspberry smell that reminds me of candy when I open the bag. At taste, an impression of hot raspberry pie, with a little bitterness afterwards. Luckily, it doesn't hide the raspberries too much.

I always want to love the fruit teas in a black base, but they always have a generic flavor that could be just about any fruit. While this one does a slightly better job of being 'raspberry', I feel like I could be drinking the blueberry, blackberry, or mango black tea right now and it would be almost identical. These black fruit teas also seem to be more temperamental and can easily go way too bitter - I picked out most of the raspberry leaves, brewed at a lower temp, and only steeped for 2 minutes. That made a pleasant fruity cup which was enjoyable, just not very raspberry. I did notice that the last few sips, which were cold, tasted more raspberry like, so maybe iced is the way to go. Quite nice with just a tad of stevia. Wanted to try some cream but didn’t have any. Then realized I didn’t need it. The raspberries were sweet enough and I didn’t have to add anything. Great cup of tea 💗💗💗💗💗 smile

The scent of raspberries was very strong upon opening the packet. My sample had a lot of raspberry leaves nestled in among the tea itself. From reading the reviews of others, I decided to brew this tea up at 200 degrees and make it a 3 minute steep. Although the raspberry flavour does come through, the base of the tea imparts a bitterness. I added a touch of honey to the rest to try round out the cup, and although it improved it a bit by making it a little smoother- I still got some bitterness. As a fan of raspberry, I wish this tea had a touch of cream or a softer base so the natural sweetness of the berry would be highlighted, but unfortunately, this was not my cup of tea.

I think I prefer this tea when it is blended with others as it is quite bitter on its own. The raspberry flavoring does come through nicely, but the bitter astringency of the tea lingers more than I care for even when steeped at a lower temperature. A little bit of added creamer helped, but I think I'll stick with the blends I've had this in that I love.

Following directions from others, I steeped at 190 for three minutes. The raspberry definitely shined, and I was able to avoid bitterness. Unfortunately I’m not a super fan of raspberry. As a base note for a blend I’m sure it would be a superstar-adding a bit of chocolate richness or cream. Once I added a teaspoon of sugar and some creamer I enjoyed my cup. I’d love to try it iced!

Nice black. Its slightly sweet with noticable raspberry taste. Needs a short steep as it easily gets biter.

Soothing black tea flavored with raspberries when hot, be careful not to steep too long to avoid bitterness. I brewed for 2 minutes and it was just a touch astringent, even as it cooled. You could add a bit of sweetener, but it is a good cup of tea without. Lovely red color and aroma adds to the enjoyment.

The dry leaves smell strongly like a raspberry candy or preserves. Steeped at 212° for 3 minutes, the taste has more fresh raspberry than I expected rather than artificial, equally balanced with an astringent and slightly bitter Ceylon black tea base. I had to add quite a bit of sugar to tone down the bitterness, but when sweet the raspberry flavor was even more intense. Second steep for same time/temperature was a bit weaker in flavor but also much less bitter. I added a pinch of sugar, a couple drops of vanilla extract, and some creamer to the second cup and it was better than the first, almost like a raspberry dessert. Overall this was a fun berry flavored tea, but I think I might enjoy it more in blends than just by itself. Would purchase a sample bag to try iced in the summer time, maybe with some fresh mint or lemon.

I wished this was not a black tea. The black tea needs so much sweetener to cut the bitterness that I drowned out the sweet Raspberry bouquet. I was very disappointed in this, and wish they could've made it more reminiscent of a black Raspberry iced tea (yes I tried, still it failed)

Strong raspberry-ish scent when I opened my packet this morning. A bit artificial..like raspberry 'flavored'' breakfast cereal. Read a couple reviews before steeping as I was a bit concerned about bitterness...toned down my steep to 190F and 3 minutes. No bitterness. Raspberry taste is light...a bit artificial but not annoyingly so or too strong. This one is ok...it's pleasant enough but I'm not really loving the tastel. Added in some stevia and just a splash of vanilla coffee creamer to liven it up a bit. Definitely drinkable, pleasant...but I'm not going to order this one.

This is as close to a perfect tea as I could hope for. The smell is absolutely lovely. Fresh and filled with the smell of ripe raspberries. I didn’t detect any bitterness while steaming hot or as it cooled. This will definitely go on my favorites list.

Plenty of tiny raspberry pieces and a reasonable amount of raspberry leaves were noted inside my communiTEA packet this morning. Heavy duty raspberry aromas were noted.

When steeping, I noticed that the tea was getting pretty dark at the three minute mark, so I pulled the steep. A mild bitterness was noted, so I added some sugar.

When hot, mild raspberry flavors and aromas were noted alongside slight bitter tastes.

When warm, heavy bitter dark chocolate flavors from tea came forward and produced an unpleasant mouthfeel. Raspberry flavors were overpowered.

At the end, this tea was too bitter for my tastes and was barely drinkable. Adding any additional sugar would have just created a cloyingly sweet mess! (3 mins @ 190ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)

After reading several other reviews I was careful not to over steep this tea past three minutes and to use a lower temperature. This made the tea perfect without any trace of bitterness. I added only one rock sugar which for me brought out the flavor, but you may want to add more if you like your tea really sweet.
