It's an alright tea, has solid black tea flavour, very mild distant fruity flavour. The Fruit flavour is there but not as prominent.

I tried this one hot and was hoping for more of the passionfruit flavor. As the tea cooled it did come out more though. I think this tea would be wonderful iced

August 2021: Got to try this iced. The flavors are very mild. I really want to like one more but it's hard to pick out the passionfruit flavor.

Updated (07/04/21): When this came up again in the CommuniTEA I decided to cold brew it since I had it hot last year - and apparently thought at the time it would be good iced. Winner of an idea, cold brewing mellowed the black tea and took away all bitterness, as well as brought forward the fruity flavors. This could easily be my every day summer iced tea. I upgraded my stars from 4 (hot) to 5 (cold brewed).

Original Review (11/24/20): The dry tea smelled pleasantly fruity and strong. Once brewed, the fruitiness was a nice mild flavor in the background of the strong black tea. It did have a dry finish, but wasn't bitter. I don't know if it was passionfruit so much as a generic fruit medley. I enjoyed it nonetheless. The last few sips in my mug were cold, making me think it would make a refreshing fruity, summer iced tea. (reviewed through CommuniTEA, 1st steep: 2.5 min @ 195F; 2nd steep: 3 min @ 195F)

I have never tasted passionfruit, so I am unsure if this tea represented the flavor or not. I appreciated that today's tea was a strong black tea. It was flavorful and enjoyable with a hint of the fruit flavor.

Dry tea smells like passionfruit and sweet. I spy a few apple pieces among the marigold threads and black tea in my packet. Once brewed, the resulting cup is dark brown with a bit of that passionfruit scent. When hot, it tastes like a mildly sweet black tea with mild astringency on the finish. When warm, more of the passionfruit flavor comes through, sweetening the bright ceylon base. The finish is still a bit astringent, but works well with the sweetness of the tea. I really enjoyed the flavor combination. Brewed at 200 for 3 minutes.

Communitea packet review. I had no apples, just black tea and flower petals. I didn't notice any passion fruit flavor, or any other flavor actually, other than simple black tea. No bitterness, but bland for a tea that was supposed to have flavor.

The Bottom Line: This tea is one of Adagio's less-fruity ones, but you'll get the most flavor out of it if it's iced.

The tea in my CommuniTea packet smelled mostly of Ceylon. To me, some fruits (passionfruit, pineapple, mango) tend to have a subtle but distinct ripeness to their scents, which was there in the packet.

After reading several reviews, I decided to steep this one at a slightly lower temperature than advised for 3 minutes. While hot, the tea mostly tasted like Ceylon, including just a touch of bitterness, though that undercurrent of ripeness remained - which was weird, given that it had just a trace of sweet fruit. Warm, instead of hot, it became sweeter, with more noticeable fruity flavor. I set some aside to try iced, which was the fruitiest of all - but still a pretty understated tea.

I didn't get much flavor from the tea or the fruit flavors. The passionfruit flavor is subtle and I tasted an equal amount of apple. The finish was slightly astringent. This would be good iced served in a glass filled with fruit.

It tastes like marigold. There's supposed to be fruit in there?

★★★★☆

Although this tea taste good and all, I prefer those passionfruit tango iced tea bags over this as it has that cinnamon. I'll drink the rest of the cup. There is nothing wrong with it.

I did not enjoy this tea even though I had high hopes for it. I would rate it a 3/10 and would not repurchase or drink again.

The fruityness came through more once I added milk and sweetener but the passion fruit flavor was lacking.

This one just didn't hit for me. In the sip I got black tea with a hint of something...maybe a tangy note...on the back end, but it was super faint. I added some honey to see if that would brighten the cup a bit. It helped a smidge, but not enough to make me fall in love. I rate this a solid 'meh'. Happy Sipping!

I have had this before...hot and not liked it..Today, I steeped it at a much lower temp, chilled with a drop of monk fruit sweetener. It was better, but still kinda...meh. The fruit definitely comes though more having it chilled and sweetened. Not something I would buy, but certainly glad I got to try it again...to prepare it differently!

I’m generally not a huge fan of passionfruit, but I also don’t think this tea tastes much like passionfruit. The Ceylon tea dominates, and there is definitely a fruity taste in the background, but I find it indistinguishable.

Great black tea to start my day!! The passionfruit is aromatic and delicious. I sip, never wanting it to end!

★★★☆☆

My portion only had one noticeable piece of fruit. When brewed this tasted like a mildly floral black tea based off the portion I received. The black tea tastes good but not what I expected from a tea called “passion fruit”

Trying along with the CommuniTEA: Notes of exotic fruit and herbaceous eucalyptus from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190°F, mainly honey ceylon tea notes from my cup. When I take a sip, I detect a strong astringent black tea with pleasant fruity-floral middle notes and dry tannic finish. I can imagine this tea benefiting from a little cream and sugar.

I wanted to like this more. It may have been the passion fruit flavors that just didn't combine well with the acidity of the black tea. Overall ok

★★★★★

Delicious fruity tea. The dark color tea lends itself for a heavy tea but it is surprisingly light and fruity. I enjoyed it warm but would like to try it cold too.

★★★★★

Following others' recommendations, I steeped the tea at a lower 180 degrees. This produced a cup of tea with minimal astringency and mellow fruit notes. Overall, the flavor is similar to raspberry black tea to me. This would certainly make an excellent iced tea.

CommuniTEA Sample: I usually love fruity black teas, but this one didn't really come through for me. There was an overall lack of fruitiness with this tea and was pretty much like just drinking the Ceylon straight. That's not a bad tea, but it isn't quite what this blend should be.

It tasted musty to me instead of fruity. I also expected a passion fruit taste but instead it is a somewhat generic old fruit taste

You need just a little bit of a sweetner to fully bring out the passion fruit flavor in this tea. It pairs perfectly with the Ceylon, and is great either hot or iced.

4 Aug 2021 update: I would suggest steeping this at 190°F to help lower Ceylon black tea astringency and bitterness.

24 Nov 2020 review: Everybody appeared to be present in my communiTEA packet. No fruit aromas were noted.

When hot, very bitter black tea and marigold citrus tastes were noted. I added some sugar to tame this down. When warm, a mild unsweetened chocolate flavor was noted from the black tea. Towards finish and lukewarm, the passionfruit magically came to the forefront with moderately sweet fruity cotton candy flavors. There was definitely an astringency and slightly dry finish. I think this one might make great iced tea! (3 mins @ 200ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)

8/4/21 Update: Since the last time I tried this tea, I've learned I like this particular Ceylon tea brewed at a much lower temperature than boiling. So, I brewed it at 185° this morning. No bitterness! But full black tea flavor with loads of passionfruit sweetening the cup. Added another star to make up for former user error. :-)

Nice fruity aroma, but not much passionfruit flavor. Astringent and slightly bitter, but smooth black tea. Very dry finish.

This tea is very nice iced. Good tea for summertime. :)

★★★★☆

otent tartness and cloying fruit scents from the dry leaf, complex passionfruit with its layers of sour, gentle sweetness, and a slight, almost spicy bitter note. Blends to a deep, mineral scent with fruit overlays when steeped, though the black tea seems to blend poorly with passionfruit and buries its sweet complexity. Dry finish, steep at a lower temperature to contain the astringency.

I love a good fruity tea. This one's going in my blend collection.

Out of the packet it smelled nice and fruity. I decided to brew this at a lower temperature, 195F for 3 minutes. I added some cream to tone down the bitterness.

This is a very average tea. It tastes strongly of black tea with just a hint of passionfruit. Pleasant to drink but nothing special.

Absolutely love this one! The black tea is a nice vase here - it isn’t overpowering or astringent at all, and let’s the fruity notes speak wonderfully. A new favorite!

I love passionfruit iced tea. Without a doubt, I can drink it all day, every day. I used to buy an expensive tropical tea that has since been phased out but Adagio s Passionfruit tastes very close to it. To make 2 liters of iced tea I boil water to 212 and steep 2 tsp tea per cup for 3 minutes. After the first steep, I repeat the steps. For the third and final steep, I add 2 heaping tsp and resteep for 3-4 minutes before chilling for the next day s use. We don t sweeten and most often do not dilute by serving over ice, although sometimes it can be strong. The tea tastes like the tropics and when I m feeling fancy and have enough energy a slice of orange as a garnish takes me to a beautiful island paradise in my mind. Enjoy!

I don't ever drink this tea hot, but it makes the most fantastic iced tea! I make a whole pitched but then I drink it in 2 days and have to brew another! Bright and tangy passionfruit over a soft and mellow black tea backdrop.

The passionfruit flavor isn't as forward as I had hoped. Still pretty good though.
