UPDATE (4 ⭐️) 8/23/23: I am enjoying Passionfruit tea this morning and this is why it’s always good to try teas more than once. I brewed it exactly the same way but today it was a pleasant cup from start to finish. While I wouldn’t probably buy it, since there are so many wonderful fruit-flavored black teas, I think this is really good. One difference I note is that this time I used Adagio’s raw honey for black tea!
Older review (3 ⭐️) from Sep 2022: This tea smells great in the packet but I didn’t find it special at all once brewed. It’s pleasant enough, especially when it cools down and the fruit flavors start to shine. I steeped at 190 degrees for 3 minutes and added raw honey to bring out the fruit flavor.

This was pretty good hot. Nice and flavorful. Next time I would probably gold brew it.

The passionfruit definitely came out in this blend and added a nice sweetness to the tea. However, the tea itself was bitter, and I feel that the passionfruit flavor would be more suited to a green tea base or in an herbal blend. Steeped for five minutes at 100 degrees Celsius.

★★★☆☆

In the bag: Similar to the Adagio photo, but my packet only has a single, lonely apple piece.

On the nose (pre-steep): Sweet, fruity aromas. Like a passionfruit candy.

On the nose (post-steep): An accent of fruity goodness remains. But the scent is mainly unsweetened cocoa.

On the tongue (pre-sweetener): Same flavor combination as pre-steep. Somewhat bitter.

On the tongue (post-sweetener): No change.

Opinion: An okay blend, but it could have been much better. Like most flavored blacks, the additive flavor was mostly lost after steeping. The astringency was also unattractive.

Preparation: First steep 3 min, second steep 6 min. Both @ 195 ℉. ½ teaspoon monk fruit sweetener.

Did not like this tea. Awful bitter flavor and brewed super cloudy.

Wonderful! I love passionfruit and this tea does not disappoint! I love it on its own or blended with other fruity teas!

Surprisingly not much taste to it (maybe I needed to steep it longer?). I couldn't make out much of an aroma, either. Fruit teas are very hit-or-miss with me, though, so take this with a grain of salt!

★★★☆☆

Very light passion fruit flavor. Not bitter or sour, good flavor. No complaints it just didn’t wow me like other fruity flavors have.

Loves this one. It has a wonderful exciting aroma and great flavor. Delightful hot and cold. I also mixed it with an herb tea and that was wonderful.

★★★★★

Another of my favorites for cold brewing. Add appropriate passion fruit syrup and it’s a great alternative to a iced tea from a boba shop.

I love this tea, great breakfast tea, wonderful black tea flavor with the enchanting flavor of passionfruit, it is so aromatic, a real treat!

Great aroma and flavor. Love sipping this tea any time of the year. Has a light sweetness to it that makes it perfect to have hot or cold.

★★★☆☆

Really nice passion fruit flavor, but it’s not my favorite. I prefer my teas a little sharper/bitter, and this is a little sweet for me.

I am on a passionfruit kick so of course I had to try adagio's blend. This one is sensitive! Steep too long and you'll get a bitter note. For me, honey or passionfruit nectar is a must to bring out the sweetness. It's hard to find a good passionfruit tea, so I am happy to have this as a pantry staple.

I read the reviews before I decided how to brew this tea. I ended up cold-brewing it and I’m glad I did. At first I wondered if there would be any taste to it at all because it didn’t have much color. However, it was love at first sip! It is a light tea and the tropical fruit flavor came through so nicely. We have had such a hot summer, and it would be perfect to have a pitcher of this tea iced in the fridge and ready to go. It’s very refreshing!

Smells nice. Seemed promising but in the end the passion fruit flavor and the tea flavor just didn't seem to do anything for each other.

Got this from the communitea. I steeped to the exact temperature for the exact time recommended, and idk what happened to my tea. This was the most bitter tea I have ever received from adagio. No idea what went wrong, as I really don’t think that’s how it was suppose to taste.

I keep trying things with passionfruit hoping to like it and I just can't. Its such a terrible flavor to me!

Passionfruit flavor is so hard to define, but I enjoy the subtle difference that it adds to the black tea here. Give it a try if you're looking for something different!

Vaguely sweet- not much passion fruit taste but still a solid black tea.

This is a yummy black tea with mild fruity flavors. I like it iced!

i can’t say it tastes like passion fruit, it’s just vaguely fruity but it’s not… terrible? not something i would drink.

Black tea with a tropical fruity flavor. When hot, the black tea and passionfruit flavors appear in equal measure. Sugar encourages the fruitiness to come to the forefront. 3 min @ 190

My guest taster thought this was just okay - nothing real special and not something she was running to get again.

Reading the reviews it seems this tea benefits from a cooler brew. I brewed my sample for 5 minutes with freshly boiled water and the result was astringent with a barely detectable passionfruit flavor.

It didn't really seem to have a lot of flavour, it appeared to be mostly a black tea, but this is CommuniTEA, so all of the potential fruit may not have been present

This year: Really nicely flavored fruity tea enjoyed every last drop. Last year:The black tea was strong and bitter. The passion fruit had a fruity aroma but no flavor translated to the tea.Maybe my packet was missing something.

I couldn't taste any passionfruit. If anything, it tasted like a standard cup of black tea. Perhaps it was just my sample packet?

I liked this fruity black tea. I did a luke warm brew but I think this would be better cold brewed overnight.

CommuniTEA portion: Cold steeped overnight. Enjoyable bold blend but not a lot of fruit flavor came out for me.

This is a delicious, easy-to-drink blend! The passionfruit flavor is noticeable but not overwhelming at all, and the black tea provided a perfect background flavor. I finished my cup so quickly, I was really surprised! 3 mins @ 195°F

This is ok. It needs a sweetener to bring out the flavor. I prefer Passionfruit Tango.

I am not very familiar with how passion fruit tastes, but the addition to the Ceylon black tea softened the tannins enough for me to drink the tea without the milk I usually put into most black teas. I enjoyed drinking the tea. I am not sure if I would buy a larger amount, I still prefer the bergamot in an Earl Grey for a refreshing black tea experience. I appreciated the opportunity to try this tea.

★★★☆☆

This tea was bland, with black tea flavors muting any floral or fruity tones. The Ceylon itself wasn't very crisp or inspiring, this was just a tea which seemed to cancel itself out.
Floral flavor does come through better with hard water and in an iced tea, but even then, this tasted about as pleasant as tea brewed from an older teabag and not the level of freshness I usually experience from Adagio. Maybe a bad Communitea sample? Either way, this one isn't one of my favorite flavor profiles or sipping experiences.

CommuniTea: My packet appeared to have a good mix of ingredients. Flavors blended well. Worth trying again.

The packet had a tangy, fruity smell that was very promising, but like others have noted, that didn’t translate into the steeped tea at all. I got a tiny bit of the marigold, but overall, it just tasted like a basic black tea.

I like this one. It is different from other fruity teas. I appreciate that Adagio did not add extra floral taste to this to amp it up. I do get passionfruit. It is not as overwhelming as in some other teas. Just a unique tea that stays true to what it is.

This blend left me longing. The black tea was too astringent for me, and while I didn’t mind the passion fruit, it just wasn’t a match made in heaven, nor a love connection for me. My packet was light on the malty chocolate flavors others have spoken of. Perhaps I should have iced it. Hm.

It's easy for ceylon to overpower any flavours added to it, but I found that wasn't the case here. So I ended up with a somewhat fresher, lighter flavour than I'm accustomed to, with noticeable fruity aromas.

★★★☆☆

Upon opening the packet, I noted a fruity aroma.

I added 1 tsp of tea sugar and 1 tsp of fruit tisane honey to my 12 oz mug as I waited for my tea water to reach 200° F. I steeped my tea for 3 minutes.

I’m usually leery of the more tropical fruits, since I don’t generally care for them. I found this tea to be more pleasant than I expected and sweet without being cloying. I’m not completely sure if I would like the tea without the fruit tisane honey, which I think did a lot to make the tea more palatable to someone who doesn’t care for tropical fruits.

There's no passion for passionfruit here. The few times I've had it, I've been underwhelmed, to say the least, so without the CommuniTEA, I would not have tried this tea. Passionfruit continues to underwhelm me. The passionfruit flavor adds a vague fruity tang on the finish of the Ceylon that reminds me greatly of Adagio's apricot flavoring, which I find to strongly resemble cough syrup. On the strong black tea base, that medicinal twang is tolerable, but not really for me. (3 minutes @ 212F)

Adagio has an impressively natural passionfruit flavoring, showcased very well in their passionfruit herbal. However, when blended with dark, malty black tea, the result is artificial and a bit cloying. This is not a bad cup of tea, but if you're a passionfruit lover, you might look in the herbals section instead.

I made this iced. I’m not really sure what passion fruit is supposed to taste like, but this really wasn’t fruity.
