I really like this tea when I first start using the package, the grapefruit is more prevalent. Over time it's less noticeable. I would put even more grapefruit flavor into it, as it's such a great note.

Great early morning tea in the summer. This tea is fresh and citrusy and is very refreshing to drink

I'm not usually big on grapefruit but this tea was pretty good. I didn't think it had too much of that tart taste that usually comes with grapefruit. After adding sweetner it was just a nice citrus flavor that I enjoyed.

What a nice refreshing scent when I opened the packet. I steeped my first cup at 200 for 3 min. The flavor was good, but not as strong as the aroma would lead to believe. I steeped the second at 212 for 3 min - a much bolder flavor. I enjoyed this tea - it was crisp and fresh. CT 5/21/23 3.3 g.

Don't take it personal, grapefruit, but I don't like you. I don't like your taste or your smell, and this tea did not change my mind. However, I have nothing against black tea, I love black tea, but I don't want you in my black tea! It was the Ceylon that kept me from passing you over completely.

I'm upgrading this to 5 stars. Between the smell in the packet to the taste, I just love it!

Love a good strong black tea in the morning. Adding some citrus to it makes it even better. I brewed this at a lower temp to avoid bitterness. The grapefruit flavoring was subtle and not overpowering. I enjoyed this hot but would be great iced as well.

I cold brewed this one and actually quite enjoyed the citrus taste. Would recommend to all citrus lovers.

05/21/23: This is… okay. My communiTEA packet had an extremely strong citrus scent. I felt that this flavor with the Ceylon base would add up to a particularly bitter cup if oversteeped, so I was careful to use 194F for 3min. Grapefruit for me requires sweetener so I added more than usual and this was still bracing. Yes it does taste like grapefruit but it’s a bit unpleasant with Ceylon in my opinion. This may be a wonderful combination for someone else.

Bright, punchy, bitter bite of grapefruit is exactly what you get in this. There were no notes of bitterness from the tea, just the more acid-citrus taste grapefruit is known for.

When I opened my CommuniTEA packet, I was met with bright aromas of grapefruit. I steeped the tea for about 2 minutes to avoid bitterness. The grapefruit flavor is very vibrant in this tea and it compliments the Ceylon black tea very nicely. An excellent cup of tea!

My goodness, what a delicious tea - for me, anyway. Flavored black teas are among my favorites, and this one did not disappoint. The smell of the tea in the packet had a wonderful odor that I could almost taste! It helps that I like grapefruit, I suppose. I steeped it at 195 for 3 minutes, then let it sit another ~ 3 minutes. It’s delicious! The taste is not at all artificial. In fact, it actually tastes like there is some oil from the rind of a grapefruit in it. Others have suggested it as a cold brew, and I’m sure that’s good too. That’s a well done tea by Adagio!

Went in thinking 'Never ever will I like this tea!! ' Yup, just got schooled. What a pleasant surprise. Absolutely enjoyed this tea.

I wasn’t sure how this would work, but it was delicious! I cold brewed overnight and drank it cold, so I can’t speak to how it tastes hot. But it was a delightful breakfast tea to take with me on an early Saturday morning that was all go-go-go with kids in tow. Update: tried it hot and there was definitely less grapefruit. I kept smelling the packet because I love the scent so much! If you aren’t a huge fan of grapefruit, try it hot. If you want more of that flavor, try it cold.

I could smell grapefruit on the dry leaves but not once the tea was steeping. I like grapefruit. I could barely taste it in the tea. The astringency has a cooly feeling like menthol without tasting minty. I'll probably like it better as an iced tea.

A bright citrus tea, not too tart or sour. Added a bit of sugar and milk for a lovely cup.

Grapefruit is one of the worst flavours ever created in the natural world. I hate it with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. That said, I tried this tea cold-steeped because I had a feeling steeping it hot would be a sure-fire way to make me despise it. Cold-steeping was actually not awful, and the citrus flavour was more mellow and less offensive than typical of grapefruit. But I still don't like it and I gave it to my husband, who said, 'it's ok.'

I was skeptical but I ended up really liking this tea. It definitely tastes like grapefruit which is a good thing. I brewed it at 195° for 3 minutes. It was good all by itself but I’d also like to try it with a bit of sweetener.

I was never into citrus in my hot teas, but this tea is a favorite! I peel grapefruits like an orange and eat them wedge by wedge. None of that slicing ‘em in half with sugar here. But this tea I sometimes like to sweeten with agave; usually a heavy squeeze. The Ceylon lends a bit of astringency reminiscent of a grapefruit’s bitter pith. Tastier as it cools to room temperature.

UPDATED from 6/5/21: Citrus aromas - so clean and refreshing- tingle my nose as the CommuniTEA packet opens. It steeps (at a lower temp to avoid bitterness) into a deep red/orange - a pink grapefruit color. Ahhh- what a flavor- just like the tart grapefruits I used to eat at the brunches my dad prepared every Sunday after church. I would never add sugar to the grapefruit, because that just made the sour stronger. However I add ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to the 10 oz) which reduces the black tea astringency and allows the grapefruit flavor to stand out more. Adding heavy whipping cream smooths the entire cup into a citrus-y creaminess that is surprisingly refreshing. (3mins @200 F + sweetener).

Better than I thought it would be. Plenty of grapefruit punch but not nearly as bitter as I thought. Not a huge fan of grapefruit so I don't see this as a regular purchase but still a tasty tea.

I enjoyed this tea from the wonderful aroma in the bag to the finished product. I tried it unsweetened, which was good, but decided to sweeten it with about a half teaspoon of agave. A most enjoyable cup with just the right balance of tea and grapefruit flavors. I steeped at 195 degrees for 3 minutes.

Grapefruit is such a nice flavor, if you like tart citrus! It worked well with the black tea, though I think I'd like this one better iced personally.

In the bag: Most of my packet is black tea. Several marigold flowers provide streaks of bright yellow.

On the nose (pre-steep): Strong, acidic grapefruit up front. The rind scent is prominent. Medium intensity. No sugar.

On the nose (post-steep): Grapefruit is still here, but it's gotten lazy. Its scent is softer and thinner. No other flavors yet.

On the tongue (pre-sweetener): A mild grapefruit visits the front and sides of my tongue. Bare hint of black tea's chocolate. A mild astringency throughout.

On the tongue (post-sweetener): The astringency has been pleasantly countered. No other changes.

Opinion: A pleasant tea. I imagine you would have to be a fan of citrus, black teas, or both for this one to strike your fancy. The initial scent is the best part.

Preparation: First steep 3 min, second steep 6 min. Both @ 195 ℉. ½ teaspoon monk fruit sweetener.

First steep 3 mins # 195 F.
First smell: It smells exactly like a grapefruit; which if I liked grapefruit would be good thing. I'm just hoping that the orange helps mask the grapefruit flavor once brewed.

With the addition of cream and sugar this tea isn't bad, coming from someone who dislikes grapfruit. The sugar helps bring the orange forward with grapefruit still the predominant flavor, though sweetened it's at least drinkable. I was concerned I might have to dump this one..but I don't. My mother would have loved this tea, I’m certain of that. I can't give 5 stars out to something I won't buy, but 4 stars seems fair.

The smell is amazing. From the moment you open the bag, the scent rises up to meet you. The flavor isn't too strong, but you can definitely taste it. If you like grapefruit, this is a great tea choice.

Disappointing lack of grapefruit flavor and just a hint of aroma.

I remembered this from a previous purchase. It seems a bit stronger than I recall and you have to avoid over steeping. Still a good bracing black tea.

The smell of this when opening the package is intensely grapefruit. I was worried the tea would be impossible to drink. The tea itself is smooth, not bitter. The grapefruit taste is more pithy than I would like — not fruity. While I like the tea, I wouldn’t order this one again.

I brewed my Grapefruit (flavored black tea) with orange peels because I did not see a single orange peel in my bag. I also added some black tea honey. Unfortunately, the tea did not take the sweetness of the honey at all, it was not even slightly sweet. The tea itself is rather plain, but it's more acidic than most black teas so that seems to be the grapefruit coming through. Overall, I would recommend with this tea, but I think it'd be better blended or with more pantry items.

I really loved this blend, I, however, did not give it a 5/5 because I preferred it cold brewed or iced much better than hot. I just don't tend to enjoy fruity teas hot.

This was a very nice grapefruit tea. It smells wonderful dry, and I found it to have a nice strong citrus taste very true to its name. I had it hot with a small bit of sugar and I can't wait to try it iced!

My go to tea- hot, cold brewed, this one does it all. If you like black tea, you need to give this big bold one a try. I brew this extra strong and then put hops in it overnight after brewing, yes hops like in beer, then add a little seltzer. So refreshing and bypass the $$ price on the hopped teas in a can.
