I am not always a big fan of grapefruit, but the smell and flavor of this tea was delicious. One of my favorites.

★★★★☆

This tea was surprisingly bitter. I cold brewed it overnight, so temp was definitely not a factor (plus I have cold brewed several other black teas without any bitterness). It wasn't bad, and TBH, I enjoyed it more the more I drank it (sometimes it takes me a couple glasses to really decide), but it didn't have quite the actual grapefruit flavor I was hoping for (although the slight bitterness did remind me of the bitterness you can get with citrus pith). I am planning on trying the oolong grapefruit, as some people seem to prefer that one. However, even with the slight bitterness, I would drink it again, just not my favorite.

I thought I had previously done this review, but apparently I didn't. The grapefruit flavor is not overpowering and makes for a nice tea. If you want a strong grapefruit flavor, this probably won't be enough, as it is subtle.

★★★★★

this is probably my top favorite tea right now. such a bright flavor and it smells great! the caffeine level is nice, but the grapefruit notes really put it all over the top.

Very nice and light and refreshing. Great way to start the morning. Very citrus-y. I was worried that it might be too grapefruit-y and tart but it was very good and I would/will buy again.

★★★★☆

I had greatly underestimated just how strong and fruity this would be before I made it. Before even opening the packet, the smell was delightfully citrussy and minty, and very clearly grapefruit. What an overpowering scent! It tastes exactly how it smells, and the second time I made it I mixed it with some Bengal black tea from a different brand and Adagio's spearmint herbal as well as honey to make it a bit more mellow, as the 12oz I'd made initially was almost too much to finish. I like my teas strong and hot, but this is really the flavor that never quits! I'd recommend making blends with it, or steeping for less time at a lower temperature than advised. Get only if you're really looking for a wonderful, kick-in-the-pants fruit flavor that's quite overpowering even when mixed. It'll take me a while to work my way through this sample!

My dad loves this blend. I took some over to his house and he was so happy. It’s always nice to sip and share tea with friends or family.

Very citrusy. The grapefruit flavor is strong, but not overpowering.

I am a grapefruit fan so I went into this one excited. I found it to be both very aromatic and flavorful with grapefruit. That being said it is a case of doing something well that is really simple. I think I could find some use for this in blending to hit some citrus background notes on other bold flavors. Will definitely try it iced next time around. I really would like to see how this one tasted with a black base other than Ceylon, maybe a Yunnan or keemun base I think would lend itself better to this flavor. Still a good tea and one I am excited to experiment with more. 212° 3 min.

On first sip, it hits me just like a real grapefruit, in that I don’t enjoy it, but then with every sip, or bite, I grow to love it. For this, I give it a five star

I should've cold brewed this, the grapefruit flavor feels very summery, great to bring a zest to an iced tea. As a hot tea it works, surprisingly so. The grapefruit pairs well with the black base.

This was a miss for me. A near miss, but a miss nonetheless. The grapefruit scent from the package was more enticing than the actual flavor. The grapefruit taste didn’t do much to enhance the black tea flavor (despite the addition of a touch of honey.) In my book: good, not great. But tomorrow is another day! 😊.

CommuniTEA sample: 3 min @ 195 F. When steeping it at a lower temperature than boiling, I feel like a lot of the unpleasant aspects within the Ceylon are less of a problem. Yes, the tea still is a little bit bitter, but so is grapefruit, and this definitely tastes like grapefruit. It smells like grapefruit, has a little bit of that kind of citrus flavor in there, and I do think the orange helps. I wouldn't say the black tea is especially strong in any specific way, but you do taste a little bit of it beneath the grapefruit. It also feels very light and almost creamy as far as mouth feel goes, I'm not sure why that is!

I haven't reviewed this one yet! 🧐Grapefruit black tea is good iced tea option ...but its not something I personally keep in my stash.

A delicious grapefruit tea. It's a little tangy, refreshing, and smooth. I didn't get any bitterness. It's good hot and iced.

My first grapefruit tea, and the flavor is truly wonderful and bold. The citrus flavor is grapefruit with only a hint of bitterness. Love this tea, I have it on repeat. It's my preferred black tea that isn't as sweet as other fruit teas. It's citrus without being overdone. So unique.

Light and refreshing, had a fantastic grapefruit aroma. Makes a very good ice tea, and a good pick me up for early morning!!

Not enough grapefruit flavor, too suttle. I am an avid grapefruit lover of most anything grapefruit but this is just too light in flavor.

The smell really hooked me in! This was pretty direct, strong and a little bitter taste. I thought it was just a nice, no frills, cup of tea.

I love grapefruit. Dry leaves smelled terrific so I hurried to steep it. The fragrance of. Grapefruit was there immediately, the flavor was spot on.I think this would be fantastic overnight brewed for warmer days when the sun shines high in the sky.

If you like strong grapefruit flavors, this tea will be your jam. If you don't... well, you can guess. It always seems quite easy to oversteep this tea and get bitterness mixed in with the grapefruit.

The scent from the packet is a punchy fresh grapefruit, after brewing it lost a lot of scent but the flavor was wonderful. A drizzle of honey really brought out the citrus. Brewed at 204 for 3 minutes.

Amazing aroma, though the taste was not as citrusy as the smell. Added a bit of sweetener as it was a little tart upon the first sip.

I really enjoyed this tea. Opening the packet you get the wonderful fruity aroma of grapefruit. Once brewed very smooth and the grapefruit comes through nicely. I think this would be a great tea iced as well. Brewed 200 degrees/3 min. with a touch of honey.

A sharp and strong grapefruit scent in the leaves, mellows out considerably in the brew. Sweet and sour, without the tangy bitterness of real grapefruit.

This tea smells so good, exactly like grapefruit. I always tell myself I should try drinking it cold, but it's delicious hot, and something a bit different because normally I think of grapefruit as a cold flavor. Sometimes I add a couple of sugar rocks, but I also like it straight - I have not detected any unpleasant bitterness in this tea.

This tea smells and tastes like grapefruit. I brewed this at 195F for 2 minutes to avoid the bitterness of Ceylon. This would probably be great in blend for iced tea.

It has a very nice citrusy smell right out of the bag. Add a bit of honey and it tasted wonderful. It does get a little bitey as it cools down, however, and it brings out more of the grapefruit flavor.

I loved the smell of this tea, but I found that the taste fell a little flat! The citrus tastes off to me, and I get the feeling this tea would have been better steeped at a lower temp.

An absolutely delightful tea! This is a potentially bitter tea—so steeped it the lower end of 3 minutes. I like a light splash of milk as well. Yum

December ‘24: still one of the best.

I actually said 'wow that's excellent' out loud. One of my favorites I've ever tried; it actually tasted 'juicy' like a pink grapefruit but the black tea kept it from being 'juice' which is how I think about some herbals. I think a splash of sweetener was perfect.

As soon as you open the packet you smell fresh grapefruit just as is you cut one open.
Its a black tea and the perfect cup for first thing in the morning.

I wasn't too sure about today's (12/2/24) CT pick since I'm not big on eating grapefruit. When I opened the packet, the grapefruit smell was very strong, but not in a bad way. Once brewed, the taste was more 'sparkling' than 'tart/sour' - which was nice. Though as it cooled, it became more of a 'meh' flavor for me. Accidentally steeped for 6 minutes instead of the recommended 3 at 212 and sweetened with 1 packet of Splenda.

I love the way this one smells more than anything. When hot the grapefruit flavor is hard for me to enjoy, but the flavor mellows out while it cools and becomes a really tasty citrus tea, I may enjoy this one more cold.

Update: I tried this tea cold brewed and it was wonderful and feuity.

Update: the grapefruit flavor is delicate. To get the best taste I used water at about 190 *F and took it out right at 3 minutes. Added some rock sugar and it was pretty good.

May 21st, 2023 I was impressed that this smelled like grapefruit. I think there is a reason there aren't many foods flavored grapefruit. While the true fruit is tasty. This wasn't for me. Tried it hot, it was sweet and had the essence. As it cold the flavor was stronger. Could be great in a blend.

This is my go-to favorite tea. Just the right amount of grapefruit to give the black tea an extra kick over the more usual lemon flavoring.

When I don't want plain black tea, this is a go to for me. I don't usually like citrus flavored teas, but the grapefruit is nice, just barely bitter. I like it warm and iced. Grapefruit oolong is awesome too.

Overall, this tea was not working. Rather than a grapefruit compliment, there is an aggressive grapefruit note and then an independent black tea note. This reminds of a back cocktail, there the blend of flavors do not meld. It's ok, but I found myself using less tea to have a weaker cup.
