I could smell an artificial spice from today's CommuniTea packet. There was no scent while steeping, and not really much flavor when hot. After cooling a little, there was a bit of a gingerbread-esque flavor, but it wasn't strong enough to the point where I could go, 'yes, that's definitely gingerbread,' without knowing beforehand. I wouldn't have even picked out the ginger to be honest. All in all, it was a decent, lightly seasoned black tea.
This is a review for a CommuniTea packet, so here's hoping a larger sampling would yield better results.
Steeped 200°F, 4min.

It was okay but not a huge fan because of how must stronger the spices got as it cooled. interesting experience though

I’ve tried 2 samples of this tea, and both tasted completely different. Both times, I didn’t get much gingerbread flavor, but for different reasons. First time I tried this was in the tea bag advent calendar. I didn’t stop steeping at 3 minutes, so it could be my fault, but despite the wonderful gingerbread smell of the leaves, I mainly tasted black tea. I was a bit disappointed since the smell had my hopes up. When this came up in the December 18th CommuniTea packet, I was excited to try again and was very careful with steep time, exactly 3 minutes. This time my tea was too weak. Both of these cups were 16 oz. the flavors that did come through didn’t remind me of gingerbread (or orange, ginger, or cinnamon), it tasted more like a weak chocolate tea. It was significantly improved by add a teaspoon of sweetened condensed milk in general, but still not much gingerbread flavor.

Didn't really get a gingerbread taste here. Honestly just got the black tea flavor and a hint of vanilla.

I didn’t get much gingerbread flavor in my mug, though the instructions on the packet definitely need to be tweaked because it was quite astringent.

I wanted to love this tea but it was just okay for me. The flavor just was not what I expected with a gingerbread name.

This was really good! Nice gingerbread flavor without being overwhelming. Wintertime coziness in a cup!

I don't think I could do this any better than Jim already has in detail, but I will echo that I definitely didn't get much of any gingerbread flavor when hot. After adding a rock of sugar, there was a little bit more flavor to it but I think my CommuniTEA packet was probably lacking because I didn't get any orange pieces or notice/smell any cinnamon. So they might be why, I'm not sure. I didn't hate this, but I wasn't impressed, either.

For me this just tasted of black tea. I did not detect any gingerbread flavor.

Smelled nice in the CommuniTEA packet. Once brewed, the spice aroma disappeared and there was no spice flavor; just tastes of astringent black tea. The tea is nice, but not what I expected.

My husband loved this tea, but I didn’t taste gingerbread

Really good. Didn’t have much of the bite of ginger that I both anticipate and dread - and it didn’t remind me very much of the cookie, I had to really focus on tasting the gingerbread. It was there, but only faintly. The second cup I brewed for ten minutes and added half n half, hoping to pick up more gingerbread notes, but there was less gingerbread flavor and it just tasted like black tea. I hope you Adagio can tweak this recipe next year.

This is going straight to the compost bin (which I have NEVER done with a tea that I didn’t like-so this is saying something). I have no idea what makes this so bad, but it just tastes super off. I even tried bringing out the flavor with plain creamer and sugar and it was still terrible. Maybe I don’t like ginger bread as much as I thought I did.

I definitely think this taste like gingerbread but I think the black tea in it is too overpowering.

A lovely balanced blend of mellow caramel sweetness and spice. I wasn't sure how much different this blend would be from the oriental spice, and they are similar, but the oriental spice has a brighter, sharper citrus note while this is rich and warming. Both are delicious, perfect for any fan of spice tea.

Not as flavorful as Adagio's other flavors... Still nice to have, especially if you prefer the more authentic black tea taste.

This tea is the one that started my adagio addiction. I am SO THANKFUL that they carry it year round because it is my go to tea. Warm, a little spicy (but not overpowering) - it's just a fantastic cup of tea, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

This is actually a really nice ginger black tea. It can get a bit bitter if you let it steep too long, but with a bit of honey its a great afternoon tea.

Although it isn't super gingerbread-y, it does have a nice ginger taste and the orange and vanilla notes are lovely.

This was just too subtle for me. I couldn't really taste any ginger, just a kind of sweet flavor.

The first steep had a bitter taste. Extra sugar & cream helped, but not completely. Second steep was better (still used xtra sugar) but there wasn't much flavor left. If we try this again, I'll steep at 175 degrees & see if that helps.

This tea is really good, and a great choice for fall and winter when you want something warm and spicy. The spices are not overpowering or strong, they are more on the mild side and blend into the black tea really well. I did taste ginger and orange, but there was not a lot of cinnamon, which is a positive for me as I find it too heavy handed in most teas on here.

This was a pleasant mild black tea, but it lacked the pop of spice crucial for gingerbread.

Perfect tea for Autumn and Winter and the Holidays too! It isn't overly sweet and is more spicy. I think it is a great tea for the mid-afternoon slump.

Kids loved it. I was not a fan. But, I do not care for chocolate and this tea has chocolate undertones.
Sadly, we still have this tea in our cupboard over a year after purchase.
