Todays communiTEA was a solid meh for me. I think it's too mild...not enough gingerbread umph! I used all the tea in my packet with less water trying to make it stronger in flavor, but still...meh.
Both Gingerbread men and women agree: this unique tea is the perfect addition to any house (gingerbread or regular).

Todays communiTEA was a solid meh for me. I think it's too mild...not enough gingerbread umph! I used all the tea in my packet with less water trying to make it stronger in flavor, but still...meh.
This tea really had a hint of true gingerbread flavor. I was very surprised and wasn’t sure if it would really be able to mimic the gingerbread flavor. Pretty delightful tea.
CommuniTEA packet tasting, mildly spiced black tea, nice way to start a chilly day. Happy sipping!
Tasty spiced Christmas tea that tastes good by itself or as a tea latte.
I am a huge fan of spicy black teas. Gingerbread is one of my favorite Holiday flavors that I look forward to each year. The gingerbread is on the mild side in this one but a great cup of tea.
Didn’t love this one but didn’t hate it either. It’s a very mild gingerbread tea. I added orange peels, cinnamon and ginger to mine to make it stronger. Not a bad tea just not as strong as I like. 195° for 3 minutes.
Pleasant Ginger and cinnamon spice with a rich, slightly bitter black tea undertone. This tea would make a exigent latte. Personally the flavor reminds me more of warm pumpkin pie the gingerbread but whatever the flavor is it's very yummy.
I don’t taste Gingerbread to me. When I add cream and sweetener it tastes like my Pumpkin Pie.
Delicious black tea, but I thought the flavor could be a bit stronger. I'll be adding sweetener next time to see if it brings out the gingerbread flavor a bit more.
Not much of a gingerbread flavor came through, which is as disappointing. I definitely got clove and cinnamon, but not much else.
I expected a 'sweeter' cookie taste right out of the bag so my first sip wasn't what I expected. Milk and a few drips of honey brought out the gingerbread flavor. It's a nice compliment to a gingerbread cookie!
Delicious gingerbread cookies were on the nose as we took a whiff of today's packet. A quick 3 minute steep at 212°F created a medium brown tea.
Mild gingerbread flavor presented itself alongside a slightly brisk Ceylon black tea. Deep and rich molasses flavors with a slight ginger kick approximated an unsweetened gingerbread cookie. A hint of orange sits alongside some mild cinnamon, achieving the perfect balance. A nice yet moderate level of astringency and tannins are found in the finish alongside the cinnamon & ginger zings.
If a gingerbread cookie was in liquid form, this would surely be it!
I very mild gingerbread flavor that I wish there were more of. Maybe some more ginger pieces would have gone a long way? I got a kind of murky blend that I did not like.
This is a very mild tasting gingerbread tea. No need to add sweetener or cream since it's light in flavor.
Little too mild in flavor for me. I even added cinnamon honey to help. Slightly bitter black tea with very little ginger or spice flavors.
Definitely surprised by how good this tea was. I was afraid the ginger would overpower the other flavors, but it doesn’t and I’m left with a tea reminiscent of gingerbread cookies, especially when a. splah of milk is added.
It's a good thing I put in review for Jolly Gingerbread yesterday. Between the two, I prefer the Jolly Gingerbread over the regular. Like the former, I can only enjoy it with dairy and sugar.
I thought I'd love this one but the ginger didn't end up coming through enough for me. Still a decent brew, though.
The taste of this tea didn't live up to the promises made by its scent. It is a good black tea, but I really didn't get much in the way of the spices. I even doubled it up and used both my CommuniTEA and Advent calendar packets with no change in flavor intensity.
This is one of those black tea blends that infuses oddly in my cup. It’s a finicky blend. Brew too hot and it’s too astringent. Brew too cool and nothing happens in my cup. Tastes like a water logged gingerbread cookie. Just can’t make this one work for my taste preferences. 185, 3 min. Sweetener and milk. Just ok , not good and not quite bad…meh
Sipping along with the CommuniTEA: Well blended ginger spice noticed from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F, I notice a slightly buttery, ginger spice blend from my cup. When I take sip, I notice a strong astringent black tea with a very subtle well blended ginger spice (no discernable specific ingredients with exception to the ginger). This tea reminds a little of biscoff cookies. The finish alternates between astringent, dry tea tannins and ginger.
I agree with the other reviewer who said there was no gingerbread taste. It’s just a black tea, and not a great one.
Nice gingerbread aroma upon opening the CommuniTEA packet. A lower steep temperature (190F) prevented any bitterness from the Ceylon. Mild gingerbread flavors noted. With a little sweetener added it tasted like a gingerbread cookie. The gingerbread flavor became more predominant as the tea cooled. Very nice holiday flavor.
This was the first tea in a long time that I couldn’t finish. There was something very off-putting in both the spices and the tea itself. Very bitter notes were predominate. I’ve had gingerbread blends that were good, this one just isn’t it.
New haiku review:
Tea temp is the key!
To making this yummy tea!
Steeped at 190
Last year I didn’t
I didn’t know what to do
See my sad review :(
Now I am happy
This tea’s gentle gingerbread
Delightful instead!
Old review: Enjoyable black tea when fixed up some, not quite getting gingerbread from this, but sipping away as a latte and as plain black to experiment with my communitea pouch. A bit of bitterness black, but no bitterness noted with vanilla creamer :)
Lovely aroma and spicy/ginger flavor. I added in a splash of vanilla and a bit of stevia. Loved it!
Delicious gingerbread tea. Steeped for 5 minutes @ 180° and the gingerbread flavor came through nicely without being overpowering. Really loved this te blend.
I wouldn't call this gingerbread, because it doesn't taste like that to me. Smells like black tea with a little cinnamon, and there isn't much flavor at all.
18 Dec 2020 communiTEA review: One large and one small piece of orange peel was noted in my communiTEA packet. Small amounts of ginger and cinnamon were also noted. Very mild gingerbread aromas were present. The orange peels were so excited to have a job that they wanted to get going immediately!
When hot, no gingerbread flavors were noted. Orange, cinnamon, and ginger flavors were mild. I don’t know where they came from, but I tasted some mild coconut flavors! The black tea was moderately bitter, so I added a bit of sugar.
When warm, an acceptable mild bitterness was noted from the black tea. The spices supplied some mild holiday zings and flavors on the tongue. I can’t say that I tasted any gingerbread. I think the flavoring worked with the tea somehow to give this drink a smooth coconut flavored mouthfeel towards finish.
Overall this was a pleasant and tasty sip, but not exactly what I expected. A second steep was even smoother and just as tasty. (3 mins @ 200ºF, 3/8 tsp sugar)
This tea has a mild spicy flavors which do become more notable when the tea is cooler or sweetened. As a holiday tea, pumpkin spice definitely has a stronger spice flavor profile, as do the other winter seasonal teas. This isn't terrible, and people who like plain teas with nuanced flavor should enjoy this. But with so many other teas to choose from, this one doesn't have much to recommend it.
For my taste to enjoy adagio gingerbread, I have to use 2 tsp of tea (12 oz) cup to get a good gingerbread taste. Great tea for blending. I used milk and sweetener to bring out the GB flavors.
The first brew is great and tastes like a McCormack gingerbread, but each brew after that lacks flavor.
I'm always hesitant with ginger teas, but this one strikes just the right balance between the cinnamon, ginger, and black tea. It makes for a sweet, warm tea that's gentle in flavor for a black tea.
Huh - I actually went back and looked at my packet to be sure I really made gingerbread tea. There was no nutmeg or ginger or much spice to this one at all. It was a little fruity. Added cream and sugar and it was fine, but the holiday flavors were a bit lacking this year in several of the blends i tried.
I was SO looking forward to this tea! I was really disappointed that it was bland and didn't have any flavor and was slightly bitter. I haven't seen any herbal that would compliment this. However, I did read on TeaChat that Gingerbread Joy is a really good blend so I'm very excited to order that. Does anyone have a suggestion for a complimentary blend or any thing I could add to it?
I liked this tea. The only reason I didn't give it a great is because it is similar to other teas I have tried.
It really is like sipping a great cookie. It is a perfect amount of ginger to have that light burn but not so much that it gets hot. I added sweet Italian creamer to it and it rounds it out nicely.
I've used this tea as a mixer for a sample flavor I tried, and it worked out nicely
Gingerbread is one of my favorite flavors, I want to love this, I really did, but I just can't detect any gingerbread flavor. I ended up adding ginger syrup myself, which then made the tea sweet.
Nice tea to blend with other teas to give a spice to. It is also good on other own or as a latte
Not as flavorful as some might want from a gingerbread tea, but the subtle, sweet spiciness does add a nice bit of extra warmth for a hot black tea on a cold winter day.
I am very particular with black tea, but I really enjoy this gingerbread blend.
the tea was fine but i didnt taste a single bit of gingerbread. @adagioteas
A holiday favorite though I would drink it year round! It goes well with a little sugar and milk.
So great for winter. Latte is my preferred drinking style for this flavor
Best Christmas tea ever! My whole family fights for the last spoonful.
This isn't spicy enough to taste like true gingerbread, but it has a pleasant cookie-like sweetness and some nice warmth, and I love this for a cold-weather tea, especially mixed with the Rooibos Vanilla Chai. Like many of Adagio's flavored black teas, it can get acrid if steeped beyond 4 minutes or so, which brings out the chemical note others have mentioned. Add some additional spice and maybe a dash of sweetener and it works well.
I've never tried this flavor-glad I finally did. Very smooth, excellent with a little honey and cream
It's like making a gingerbread latte, but healthier and with tea! This blend is so yummy, it's like a liquid gingerbread house. I let it steep for a nice long time then stir in some vegan coffee creamer.
I must admit I was disappointed when I tasted this tea. It was not as robust as I had hoped. Mild spice flavor was pleasant but not strong enough to taste like gingerbread. The next time I brew it I will increase the amount of tea I use to see if that helps. If so I will update my review. Perhaps I need to energize it by adding a bit of Double Ginger.
