Pleasantly spicy. Needs a lot of sugar though, because at first it was bitter and as I got lower in my cup with the settled sugar the bitterness went away. 3.5/5

This is one of my absolute favorites to have hot in the morning during the winter. I like it sweet with milk and a splash of coffee. So good!

★★★★★

Wonderful blend at holidays and all year round. Especially nice on a chilly morning. 😊 use my drip coffee maker.

The scent of the leaves is so...smooth?? The tea is wonderful with some dark brown sugar, and it's good with or without milk (but a very small amount). It's not overly strong, but still has a good amount of spice.

It’s a fine black tea though it does not immediately evoke gingerbread. There are some traditional gingerbread ingredients, the ginger in particular does become slightly stronger as it cools, but it needs a touch more cinnamon or other tweaks to pass for gingerbread. As-is, the black tea should definitely be steeped below boiling, 195-205F, and for no longer than 3.5min or the tannins take over.

To me this was a perfect gingerbread cookie after adding some sweetener and a touch of cream. One of my favorite flavored black teas. Delicious if you like ginger and cinnamon.

This is a good ginger tea though I didn't get gingerbread from it. If I were to get it again I would add a touch of molasses to see if that made it tastes more like gingerbread.

A ginger flavour without any outstanding kick to it. Mild, but still enjoyable, with more taste to the black tea base. Adding a little dark agave helped to boost the gingerbread note and make it better reminiscent of a gingerbread cookie.

I liked this gingerbread flavor. Once you add your sweetner, it had more of a sweet versus a spicy gingerbread taste. I can't say rather or not I would prefer a more spicy gingerbread flavor. I guess I would have to compare. But this was good for what it was intended for. And made for a nice holiday cup of tea.

Was looking forward to trying this as part of the communitea, and it did not disappoint. It was delightful

This tea was steeped at 185°F for 3 minutes and was sweetened with 1.5 tsp of tea sugar. A 12 oz Adagio Advent mug was used. The tea leaves smelled like a sweet vanilla cookie. The tea initially reminded me of what I imagine honeysuckle would taste like. As the tea cooled, it developed what seemed to be a lemon flavor. The cooler it became, the sweeter its taste. This was a 4 star tea for me.

Today's CommuniTea packet is gingerbread with black tea, gingerbread flavor, cinnamon, orange and ginger. It's good, but not terribly exiting on its own. Perhaps it would be closer to gingerbread with a dollop of molasses added? I settled for adding a few cloves :-) and it made a perfectly acceptable drink. Brewed in 12 ounces of 200-degree water with four or five cloves for about three minutes.

I echo what others have said; it’s not bad but I wanted MORE gingerbready goodness! I wish the flavor was doubled (clears throat in Adagio’s general direction). Overall, it’s a mild spiced brew made even better by adding some sweetener. This would be fun to serve to guests during a holiday brunch. Happy Sipping!

I love gingerbread and was looking forward to this tea. The flavors were almost minimal. Would try again to see if the communitea mix was unbalanced.

UPDATED from 12/19/21: There is the smell of ginger and cinnamon mixed with the aroma of a gingerbread cookie. I look to see only tea leaves, some orange rind, and bits of cinnamon & ginger - what, no cookies? Steep it at 200ĀŗF and it turns into a clear amber color and has the aroma of gingerbread. It tastes of warm ginger and has that cinnamon zing, but the bitterness is overbearing. I add ½ teaspoon of sweetener (to 10 oz) and that calms it quite a bit, now it only lingers into the finish. There is the hint of gingerbread flavor, that luckily, gets stronger as it cools. Add heavy whipping cream as well to the second steep, and it really brings out the spices and gingerbread, removing the bitterness entirely. For me, Adagio’s Jolly Gingerbread tea has a much stronger gingerbread flavor. (3 mins @ 200ĀŗF + sweetener and cream).

Delicious Tea. Great for the holidays. Added some sweetener, might be good with some cream too.

★★★☆☆

Nothing special, an acceptable black tea with the slightest hint of gingerbread. I should have read the other reviews first and steeped at 180 instead of 212

★★★★★

This is a nice, flavorful, cozy tea - good especially in cold weather. The flavors are all subtle and nicely blended. The only thing that would make it even better would be a little more ginger taste. However, it’s a fine line between enough and too much, and too much would have ruined it for me. It’s a great yummy cuppa.

CommuniTEA portion: Steeped at 195 for 3 minutes. This was a tasty enough cup but I didn't get as much of a gingerbread vibe as I expected. Slightly ginger forward, but mostly a bit of spice and black tea. Still enjoyed it.

Cozy gingerbread tea - it's excellent with some honey, and I'll bet it's awesome with some milk too!

If you want a basic black tea then sure, but I literally could not taste any spices. Tried plain and with milk and with milk and sugar. (197F 4 minutes)

★★★☆☆

I found this tea to be a little bitter--had to add sugar and it's still not my favorite. I am mostly getting cinnamon notes both in fragrance and taste, which is tasty, but not getting much 'gingerbread' itself. Still worth finishing the cup, but I probably wouldn't purchase more of it for myself.

★★★★★

Sweet, rich molasses flavors combine with cinnamon, ginger, and a subtle pop of orange. This is a great combo, but adding a bit of cream and sugar really elevates this tea to its full gingerbread flavors! I highly recommend this tea for a tasty gingerbread latte.

I really wanted to like this one and it smelled promising in the packet. However, there was just too much bitterness that it overwhelmed the other flavors. Even with honey, I only got a bit of the intended flavors.

I like this tea and it captures gingerbread well. This does not have the dominant ginger snaps taste nor the glaze taste but the breadiness and toastiness that goes along with the holiday spicing..Restrained in a good way.

This gingerbread tea is delicious as long as you don't steep it too hot.

★★★☆☆

I really wanted to love this tea, and now having read the comments I think I may have steeped it at too high a temperature. However, I didn’t think it was bitter—it just had a kind of strange aftertaste.

★★★☆☆

In the packet, I smell mostly just the chocolatey-ness of the black tea, with a hint of cinnamon. I brewed at 200 for 3 minutes.

On the sip, about the same thing - mostly black tea, with maybe just a background hint of 'spice.' I don't really get much distinct gingerbread flavor from this at all, even though I've had blends from Adagio that include 'gingerbread flavoring' in a more pronounced way. No orange flavors either, but that may have been because there were only a couple tiny pieces in my CT packet.

★★★☆☆

This tea is a really good black tea with a very very mild gingerbread flavor in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with the gingerbread flavor either, the ginger is actually the main spice I taste with cinnamon and a little orange coming through after. It is, however, one of the weakest gingerbread flavors I've had in a tea, which makes me sad because gingerbread is one of my favorites.

Trying this with CommuniTEA today, I struggled a little on how I wanted to rate this between 3 and 4 stars. On the one hand, the tea tastes good. On the other hand, it doesn't really taste like gingerbread to me, so 3 stars won out for that reason, though I am enjoying my cup.

The smell on opening the packet is really nice and gingerbread-y, and this smell was lost on brewing. I brewed for 3min at probably 200deg ish. I tasted it before sweetening and it just tasted like black tea. I didn't find it bitter like some have. I added my usual black tea sweetener (one spoon of sugar) and a little almond milk. As in Jim's review, the flavor is pretty mild and somehow feels a little coconutty to me as well.

Lovely blend of spices, but I don’t automatically think ā€œgingerbreadā€ from the taste, it mostly comes through in the aroma. Added a splash of egg nog and it helped complete the flavor profile I was looking for.

It's a tasty tea, with brighter spice notes, it just doesn't smell or taste like gingerbread to me. Would I turn it down if offered? Nope. Just doesn't live up to the name for me.

In the bag: Just the thin, brittle black leaves of Ceylon.

On the nose (pre-steep): Gingerbread is here but subtle. This isn't a spice bomb. Instead, it reminds me of a dark Irish soda bread with a light ginger treatment. And a soft, underlying chocolate - perhaps from Ceylon.

On the nose (post-steep): The warming spices are more prominent. The soft chocolate has receded. Still the distinct note of soda bread. Cinnamon and orange are just barely there, on the fringe of the scent.

On the tongue: Now the flavor has become classic gingerbread straight from the oven. Soft, bitter chocolate Ceylon plays a supporting role. An even balance between the two.

Opinion: A superb tea. The taste in particular is a spot-on representation of the namesake. My usual disclaimer: I'm a fan of flavored blacks and of holiday teas, so I'm clearly biased. I also appreciated the surprise soda bread notes in the scent.

Preparation: 3 min @ 195 ℉, ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener

UPDATE: Decaf Chai CommuniTEA Dec 12, 2022

I steeped this as per my last review, but for some reason, I didn’t like it as much as I did last time. I don’t know if it’s because my small CT packet had a different configuration of ingredients, or what, but I couldn’t taste the ginger at all, only the black tea, and it bothered my stomach a little. This might taste good as a latte. I’m revising my rating to a 3.5, but rounding up to a 4 because black tea can upset my stomach at the best of times and in a bigger package, the spices are more likely to be better/more evenly distributed.

***** ***** ***** *****

Recommended Steep: 3 minutes at 212*F
I steeped this tea for 3 minutes and 190*F since in is a black tea and lower steeping temperatures seem to work best for me for this base of tea. I used 12 oz of water and 1.5 tsp of tea sugar. Potentially, despite my sweet tooth, I could use 1 tsp of tea sugar and be happy.
There were mild to moderate aromas upon opening the package that were pleasant, but a challenge for me to identify accurately. I love gingerbread and had high hopes for this tea. I found this to be a most enjoyable tea with a mild to moderate ginger flavor with a pleasant aftertaste. I would have like to have a little more of the ginger bite to it, but other than that, I’d say this tea is a winner.

Gonna be honest, I don't actually know what gingerbread tastes like. It's never been something we had in our house for Christmas. I'm not getting anything that particularly says 'cookie' from this (other than the smell, I swear I'm smelling vanilla), but I do like the spices. I overbrewed slightly and got a more bitter black tea than I like, but the spices do a good job of covering it up.

I wasn't quite sure how a gingerbread tea would taste, so I got the sample. I usually go for fruity flavored tea. This is going to be one of my new favorites. Super mellow. Not like a ginger snap. More like a ginger sugar cookie. I brew it hot and then drink it iced.

This is a really nice spiced tea. It's not too overpowering, but just enough to give you a very...holiday feel to it.
