Communitea sample review: I quite like this one! Added a wee bit of coconut sugar, and a little oat milk, and it's very yummy. Will probably order more.

There was no berries. I've had plenty of currant teas, but this just tasted bitter on bitter. I put sweetener in this, but still nothing. The berry flavoring and Raspberry flavoring mightve saved it if I put actual berries in for the steep

This is a great tea if you like berry jam flavors. It's less bitter than some of the other flavored black teas, and has a lovely fruity aroma like raspberry jam or preserves. The currant flavor comes through as fresh berries and a deeper raisin note. I enjoyed this one hot with a little bit of sugar, but can see it being even better iced in the warmer months.

The fruity aroma of the tea leaves brewed a nice cup of tea, if a bit bitter probably due to the currant and raspberry. A touch of sweetener smooths it out and brings the fruit to the forefront. However, be careful not to steep more than 2-3 min. to avoid additional bitterness.

Today's tea tastes like a raspberry dark chocolate bar to me. Very good. No bitterness after steeping at 200 for 3 minutes. The sweet berry flavor is subtle, but definitely noticeable. Smells like raisins. Sweetened with Monk fruit and added creamer.

I liked this tea a lot. I’ve learned that when blends contain Ceylon tea and say 3-5 minutes steep, I’m better off only doing 3 minutes to avoid bitterness, so that’s what I did and it really helped. I definitely tasted raspberry, but I’m not sure I got the currant flavor specifically. I’ve never actually had a currant alone, I’ve had them in cookies and they seemed like little raisins but didn’t add much flavor. So it’s hard for me to say if this was a good representation of currants. But I enjoyed it nonetheless!

Very bold and earthy as a hot tea. Might taste better with extra sweetener and iced, but it's not my favorite.

Well, I can drink this one, anyway. I don't really taste fruit, just tea. I added a little sweetener to see if I could taste the berries, but no luck. It also managed to get tannic very fast - I only steeped it for a couple of minute and it was still pretty bitter. (2 mins @ 212 F, 2 drops EZ-Sweetz)

This is a fairly standard flavored Ceylon with a very light fruitiness added. It needs a low, short steep to avoid drying out your mouth completely, but if you're gentle, you'll be rewarded with a pleasantly brisk cup with a hint of currant. A bit of sweetener and cream helps the fruit along while toning down the harshness of the tea. It's fine, but nothing I'd add to my wishlist. (2 mins @ 200 F, 2 drops EZ-Sweetz, 1 tsp half-and-half)

Very bitter. I think it would have been much more pleasant with a different black tea as the base for this blend.

I liked the flavor of current, not tart or too fruity. I also enjoyed the tea cold. It was smooth and enjoyable.

There were fair amounts of raspberry leaves noted upon opening my communiTEA packet of Ceylon Black tea this morning. Strong currant berry aromas were noted.

I steep all Ceylon black teas at 190°F to prevent bitterness. This was no exception. I pulled the steep after three minutes when the depth of color was to my liking.

When hot, currant flavors were mild. No bitterness was noted from the tea. The raspberry leaves added a slight, but appropriate amount of astringency. I added ¼ teaspoon of sugar to help smooth and bring-out berry flavors.

When warm, mild and slightly sweetened dark chocolate flavors were noted from the tea. Currant flavors were moderate. I’ve partaken in some Zinfandels with similar currant flavor profiles. The best way to describe this tea is that it has a smooth and jammy currant mouthfeel.

The combination of chocolate and currant flavors was very interesting. Unfortunately, a moderate bitterness was noted towards finish. A second steep had milder flavors, but the bitterness remained at the end. (3 mins @ 190ºF, ¼ tsp sugar)

Opening the CommuniTEA packet this morning, I was immediately met with the smell of raspberries and raisins and I knew I was in for a good cup of tea.

I don't know anything about currants, but I love this tea. It's not overly sweet or fruity, but you definitely get a raisin-y sort of flavor. I steeped at 212 for 4 minutes and am not experiencing any bitterness that normally comes with a black tea, nor am I getting that dry mouthfeel, so that's especially pleasant.

I sipped at this while hot and it's a little more subtle. My cup cooled significantly while I was working, so I continued to sip on it and I noted that the bitterness and dry mouthfeel start to make their appearance when the tea gets tepid, so if that's not your thing, I would drink it hot for sure.

I can say that I've never tasted this on its own but have used it in one of my signature blends along with some cream tea and honeybush vanilla and those combined with it really bring out a lovely flavor with a creamy hint, so I definitely recommend blending it with a cream or vanilla to get the most out of it.

All that said, it's perfectly delicious on its own, as well.

While the hints of berry for perfect, it was a little too bitter for me. I made sure to steep it the proper time marked on the bag, but it was still a bit strong.

The meh rating is very accurate. Neither the tea nor the currant flavor is very strong. It's an okay tea.

Fruit was a little weak, so I steeped it longer hoping to get more currant flavor, but then it turned a little bitter. It's not a bad tea, but definitely not a favorite for me. I tasted a little of the jammy flavor, but it left me wanting for more currant.

I do not like raisins so I was worried this tea would taste strongly of raisins when I smelled the dry leaves. Happily that is not the case. This tea tastes primarily of raspberry and is smooth and delicious with some milk and sugar.

The aroma of this tea seems stronger than the flavor but I find its flavor still comes through. I steeped this @ 200F for 3 minutes. Maybe I could have gotten away with a full boil but I recently have been finding that I get less tannin when I steep just below full boil. I'm probably having weird taste issues. Anyway, I think I'd like this more blended with some spice. I might have to order this again sometime.

As a raspberry tea fan, I immediately fell in love with this currant tea upon my first sip. When I opened the CommuniTEA packet, a wonderful raspberry raisin scent escaped and the taste of the tea lived up to the tease of the full berry aroma. I was lucky the packet today was generously filled with all listed ingredients and had three full teaspoons to brew. I used two teaspoons for the first cup then added the bonus to my second steep.

Sipped hot, the scented brown liquor was a bit tart and as it cooled to a comfortable sip the flavors of raspberry and raisin-like currant came forward more. I could enjoy the nicely acerbic tea plain but when I added honey, the sweetener heightened the well-balanced flavor of tangy Ceylon with the two berry mix. I found the flavor of raisin-like currant a perfect compliment to the flavor of traditional raspberry tea. It gives it more depth so I like this two berry mix better and its long lingering aftertaste of tangy and luscious berry.

No bitterness detected in the first brew at 212F for 5 min. in a 12 oz. mug or the 2 additional resteeps using the same time, temp. and mug. The bonus tea was a gem today! Can’t wait for summer. This one goes on ice.

Tart and tangy tea with some bitterness from the black tea despite brewing at a lower temperature. I added a couple rock sugar crystals to lessen the bitterness of the tea and found it tastes better after it has cooled a bit.

I love currant and really wanted to love this tea. Some currant teas I have had in the past were very 'perfumy'... fake. Adagio's version has a spot on aroma...it's wonderful! Sadly, that's where my love for this tea stopped. I steeped at a lower temp and did 2 steeps. The black tea was really dominant for me and didn't allow the currant to come through like I wanted.

Not as fruity as I would like, although the scent is a bit raisiny and date-like! Sometimes adding sugar would help bring out the fruit flavor, but in this case, it pretty much just masked it. Still, it's not a bad tea, just on the lighter side.

Always my favorite black tea. Bright berry notes balance the smooth bitterness of black tea without overpowering with sweetness. It's balanced, versatile, and an all out classic.

Blackcurrant is my favorite berry. Hard to find in US. Adagio variety of currant tea is one of my favorite because it tastes very natural as opposed to other brands I've tried. Definitely recommend it to berry tea lovers.

The currant is a bit subtle, but I still enjoyed it. It reminded me of Adagio's Baskerville Bramble tea without the caramel taste. If you're looking for a very strong currant taste, I'd look for something herbal.

I'm not really one for herbals with an over abundance of raspberry leaves, so I knew going in it wasn't for me (which is why I tacked on an additional star for fairness.) It's astringent and bitter, but there is a slight tart currant flavor that comes through underneath everything else. I think it will be a good addition to certain blends, but would never drink it as is.

This is a very strong tasting black tea. While it has raspberry leave in it, this tea would taste even better with a raspberry simple syrup. The bold flavor of the tea would pair well with a little bit of sweetener of any kind.

I found this tea mediocre. It did not taste bad. But it was not particularly memorable. I was expecting to get more of a fruity flavor from it. For that reason, I probably would not buy this again.

This is one of the better fruit flavors in my opinion. The currant is a subtle berry flavor that mixed well with the either the cream tea or the vanilla tea. Sometimes I add a dash of chocolate tea in there too. I prefer to mix this one rather than drink just the currant.

A pretty good fruit tea. I was a bit disappointed when the flavor of the brewed drink turned out so much subtler than the fragrance on the leaves, but I can still taste it. If you've never had currant flavor, it's a tart berry flavor along the lines of blackberry or cranberry. I definitely like a bit of sugar or honey in this one, since the fruit flavor isn't all that sweet on its own.

Can't taste any currant at all. The black tea is really good, but no flavoring. Tried hot and cold and I got nothing. Even in the bag before brewing, I couldn't really smell it. Just smelled like black tea. Kind of sad because I love currants, growing up in a Polish household, this was a common flavor in jams and juices so I was looking forward to it and the nostalgia. 3 stars because the black tea if flavorful nd good in and of itself, but only 3 stars because of the lack of currant in this.
