This tea's flavor is awesome! Sweet and definitely different, it's a great tea to have with dinner.
A classic combination. Smooth, deeply fruity currant flavor (similar to raisin) with bright Ceylon tea.

This tea's flavor is awesome! Sweet and definitely different, it's a great tea to have with dinner.
I sweetened this with stevia powder, and is tasted like dessert! The lovely fruit flavor was heavenly.
I am not sure what currants are 'supposed to taste like', but this was an excellent berry tea. The berry flavors rose strongly to the front with the ceylon providing a nice base to showcase it. It seems like most berry teas are non-caffeinated but this stands out to me as a great caffeinated berry option.
I wish I had gone to the website first. It's 3-5 minutes on the packet but 3 minutes here. I steeped for the full 5 and ended up with a very tannic tobacco mouth feel. I ended up putting it on ice and it makes a decent iced tea but not something I would look for.
Delicious. Warm currant flavor, good with a splash of milk. Love it!
ABSOLUTELY delicious. What a wonderful blend. Highly recommend, glad it was part of my communitea box, I probably would have never tried it on my own. Delicious!!!
Tangy and astringent, this tea required sugar to be palatable. Better iced than hot.
A mild fruity and floral aroma in this tea. I steeped at a lower temperature (190°F x 2 minutes) to prevent any bitterness from the Ceylon. The flavor of currants is enhanced with a bit of honey, which also tones down the brightness of the black tea. It makes a nice morning tea, but would also be delicious with scones for afternoon tea or iced in the summer.
I brewed this tea at 195 F x 3 min to avoid bitterness. It was a very strong black tea and the raspberry leaves gave a strong astringency. I tried adding both 1/2 tsp honey and 1/2 tsp of heaving cream in hopes of bring out the currant flavor. None of these tactics worked. Nothing I tried could keep the bitterness and astringency at bay. No thanks.
As I’m not normally a fan of Ceylon tea I wasn’t sure I would like this one. Very happy to be wrong. What a nice cup of tea. Great way to start my day.
A nice flavored ceylon tea. The currant was not overwhelming, as many flavorings can be. I steeped this at 212 as recommended and it was too bitter for my taste. If I were to try it again, I would steep at a cooler temperature.
Ceylon is not my favorite black tea. This was bitter and tart with a light berry undertone. Overall just ok.
This tea was simply shocking! I think there was a current running through it. 😉
My communitea smelled nicer than it tasted today. I got strong berry notes when I opened it, however the taste was mild currant like. This may taste nicer as an iced tea rather than hot tea. I got a mild caffeine kick, so it did serve its purpose as a Monday morning tea. Brew time 4mins at 200, resteep at the same temp same time.
I like tea blends where the added flavors and base tea are in balance with each other. This is one of those teas. The base black tea is bold and assertive and the flavorings are no slouch. This is a nice jammy tea.
I don’t know how else to describe this tea aside from jammy. I have never had a currant, but the flavor was berry-like and enhanced by a little sugar. I didn’t find it to be bitter at all, nor did I find the fruit flavor to be artificial tasting. I’m not usually a huge fan of fruit flavored black teas, but this one was delicious.
This was an interesting one. I don't think I've had real currents before, so to me it came across raisin or date-like. A nice flavor though, especially with some sugar added to amp up the sweetness.
From experience the ceylon base does better at a lower temp then what's recommended, otherwise it can become quite astringent.
Steeped (1) 190F 2.5min, (2) 195F 2.75min
Tasty! I actually like this better than raspberry. Nice CommuniTea selection today. Not too sweet. I think currant compliments the black tea nicely.
A perfect cup of tea. A little fruit flavor not too overwhelming.
This tea wasn't for me. I enjoyed the currant flavor, but I don't care for raspberry leaf so I should have picked some out before brewing.
What a wonderful fruity tea! The flavor is very jammy and similar to a raspberry, but slightly different. This was great hot; I imagine it would be delicious iced as well!
I really enjoyed this tea. The fruitiness from the currant gave the black tea a pleasant lift without being overpowering. I would consider buying this in the future.
I love currant! The flavor is bright, jammy, and super tasty.
This was a solid fruity black tea. I never had an actual currant due to the lack of them in America but I enjoyed the complex flavors. Tasted a bit like raspberry but deeper then that. When piping hot you taste the beautiful black tea and the slightest hint of berry. But as the tea cools you get more and more of the berry/currant flavor. This tea also have a very nice mouth feel and a smooth finish. I brewed at 212 and didn’t have any bitterness. But I know Ceylon black tea can burn easily so beware. Overall this was very good and I would try it again. I only have a sample pack because of the March CommuniTEA box.
Not to sure what currants should taste like, but today’s tea was a black tea, showing off more like a chocolate raspberry blend. Steeped 3 mins @ 195F. Each warm sip carried a rich, almost chocolatey, flavor followed by a tangy rather tart bite. Not sure why but lately, Ceylon blends have been more of a “meh” cuppa tea. Sadly, I don’t think currants ever showed up in my tea today. Again my packet was more of a choc raspberry tea, not currant so my ⭐️ stars are reflecting that fact.
When steeped low and short, you are rewarded with a nice black tea that is not overly bitter and only has a mild astringent finish. The berry flavor is nice, though not very strong, and there is a hint of tartness that doesn't overwhelm. This might be one of the better berry flavors in a black tea base (in my opinion). While this still has a bit of that 'generic' berry flavor to me, it isn't overly potent, overly bitter, or harsh like I have found the blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 3 min @ 195F)
This tea just left me wanting more. It was pleasant, and lightly fruity, but with an undercurrent of sour flavor wrapped around a nice black tea flavor. Steeped at 195° for 3 minutes to avoid the bitterness that Ceylon tea sometimes has, there was a slight chocolate note which I enhanced by adding a touch of sugar and cream. For flavored teas I tend to lean towards chocolate, cream, and spice, with fruit getting left behind. This one just didn’t hit my flavor profile!
A good fruity tea with a tart taste. Tastes better after it cools down.
Saw that someone else wrote a haiku review so I’m stealing the idea:
“Berry aroma/bold black tea flavors come through/sweet currant finish”
This tea wasn't bad. I enjoyed the slight berry taste that accompanied the black tea, though it came out a little bitter.
A Jam-Filled Tea!
Since the particular black tea used in this has the tendency to be bitter alongside the berry flavors, I steeped it at 190F for three minutes and added in a splash or two of milk which negates that bitterness and turns it into a almost berries-and-cream tea. :)
This is decent. Nice fruity berry-like flavor with a touch of tart amongst the black tea.
Based on the CommuniTEA packet: its a nice Ceylon blend that smells amazing right from the packet. Its a nice berry drink to start the day off to.
Quite lovely! The smell out of the packet is driving me crazy - it smells like a certain fruity candy (maybe a Japanese sweet?) that I can't quite place.
Once brewed, the currant and raspberry takes a bit of a back seat, but lends a nice fruity tangy hint. No bitterness at all, I didn't need any cream or sugar!
2 steeps! 3m @ 195*

This CommuniTEA packet had a candy-like aroma similar to the black Raspberry tea which reminded me of Pez candy. I steeped this one for 3 minutes. I'm not sure how currants are supposed to taste, so to me it's just a wonderful black berry tea! It did not resteep well. I prefer herbals; the black tea flavor was a bit strong for me in this one. Combined with the caffeine content, unfortunately I don't think I'll be purchasing this one even though it's very good. If there was a decaf version, it would be on my list to consider for sure!
212 for 4 minutes. Not too bitter and definitely taste like cranberry but actually currants. Just not my fav, otherwise a good tea.
I found the dry aroma of this tea to be interestingly pleasant, but couldn’t quite identify it. I added a tiny bit of honey to combat any bitterness from the Ceylon. When hot and warm this tea had a light black tea flavor and a light aftertaste of store bought jam. Not at all unpleasant. A mild bitterness came through as the tea cooled. 3 stars because any bitterness is a turn off for me. 190 F for 2 minutes in an attempt to avoid bitterness.
212 degrees for 5 minutes. I love all black teas and this one is no exception. The initial scent from the dry leaves was reminiscent of raisins and sweet pipe tobacco. The brew itself is bold with currant undertones. A teaspoon of sugar brings out the berry flavors and tones down the tannins. Very enjoyable tea!
I really enjoyed today's tea. I've enjoyed most of Adagio's flavored teas that are made with Ceylon Sonata, plus flavors and additions. My packet today included a generous number of raspberry leaves and quite a lot of currant and raspberry scents, plus a generous amount of tea leaves. My first steep (I've not tried a second yet, but I certainly will) was about 3.5 min in 212 degree water, and the resulting cup is delicious with a hint of bite, but no real bitterness. I will try sugar with my second steep, just to see how it blends with the currant. Either way, this is a 5 out of 5 tea for me. I may have to order some! I think it would be delicious iced, too.
A great black tea, with the bitterness cut down by the currant flavor. Didn't need any sugar or honey added at all.
I got more smell out of this one than flavor, but that was fine by me. Very berry-y, jammy fragrance that was mild when steeped. Saw primarily ceylon with a couple of raspberry leaves scattered about in my CommuniTEA packet. Resteeped well.
This is a great black tea with a hint of flavor. I could drink this as my morning wake up tea every day. Nice strong tea with caffeine! Perfect with a touch of Trivia in it.
I found the scent of this tea very nice, and brewed it up at 200 degrees for 3 minutes to try avoid any bitterness. the colour is beautiful, a rich dark cup with berry notes. the taste is actually a lovely surprise- I had expected a bit of the artificial flavourings that I sometimes get with berry teas, but this one has none of that.
The tea has very subtle, jammy tones, almost like having a thin layer of fruity jam on toast. I also got a hint of sweetness, almost honey-ish, and cocoa as well as a raisin like taste. I found this a very intriguing tea and will definitely be trying more of this.
Really nice cup of black tea, the currant contrasts nicely and adds a tart fruit note that harmonizes. Goes on my wishlist to get some more to keep on hand.
I made this iced. It was nothing special, just tasted like regular iced black tea. I couldn’t taste the currant.
I have never had a currant in my life but if they taste like this tea then it's my new favorite fruit.
This tea was delicious. It has a very deep berry flavor that makes it rich. It really holds up to milk and sugar. When I first opened the packet it had a wonder berry smell.
Strong and bold. I really love current everything, so it is no surprise that I like this tea too.
The packet smelled nice and fruity, and the brewed liquor did as well. When sipped, not too much berry taste was present for me. The Ceylon tea was not too bitter, but I was hoping for a little more oompf from the currant flavor. Brewed 212 for 3 minutes, second steep same settings, but no berry flavors noted on the second steep
This tasted like a decent cup of Ceylon tea, but the currant flavor didn't come through very strongly. If someone had told me this was just plain Ceylon without any flavoring, I would probably believe them.
