Twinnings Black Currant tea is outstanding but only comes in bags.
So I purchased Adagio Currant Loose leaf Tea and its awful. Tastes more like flower pedals and chocolate with an odd fragrance. I do not like it at all.
A classic combination. Smooth, deeply fruity currant flavor (similar to raisin) with bright Ceylon tea.

Good taste, what I was expecting. It didn't surprise me or blow my socks off, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
I liked this tea, but it has a really narrow range for me. As in, too short a steep and it's not *quite* strong enough for me, too long a steep and it's bitter. When I have hit that sweet spot though, it's a really nice tea.
This didn't smell like much in the bag to me, but the tea is quite fruity when brewed without being sweet or tart.
Maybe a little *too* fruity, but that's a question of taste.
The smell made me a bit uneasy before the brew. It was very strong. But once brewed, totally mellow and pleasing.
I really love currants. In fact, I have a steady supply of currant preserves in my pantry at all times. This tea somehow missed the flavor a bit. It lacks that certain punch I've come to love about the tart little berry. I'll have to stick to having currant preserves on toast with my tea.
Just ok. The currant flavor is underwhelming piping hot, and iced is only middling.
Great currant flavor. I used to use a lot of sweetener in my teas but this one stands alone. This is one of my favorites
I was looking for a replacement for Twinings' long-lost black currant tea. This didn't work for me.
I really, really like this tea. I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed the bold, fruit taste!
good berry flavor. Not overly fruity or sugary. Good with muffins for breakfast.
I noticed that many of my fandom teas include Currant as an ingredient, so I wanted to try it by itself. The tea has an incredible fruity smell and taste, the currant coming through easily without being overpowered by the black tea. And I can just detect the raspberry leaves underneath. Wonderful tea.
Nice mild taste and very bright flavor! Like this tea.
This tea is very good with breakfast. It is lightly fruity, but not too sweet. I drink it, as I do with most teas, with some honey. I can get multiple cups from it, albeit with longer steeping time.
Didn't really have as strong a fruity flavor as I would have liked.
Currant is one of my favorite fruits. Ever so slight aroma of currant (think raisin), and a really fruity flavor.
I received this as a free sample, and I just finally decided to try it. It was a decent black tea, but to me it didn't really taste like anything in particular. True, I'm not altogether familiar with how currants are supposed to taste, but this just tasted like plain old black tea.
I don't know how to rate this one because it really did not taste like anything. I let it steep for 5 minutes, and then another five minutes and I never even got a hint of anything. I am still going to give it an 'okay' because at least it does not taste bad.
This is a great start to my tea blending adventure.
Nice rich flavor. Will definitely re-order once I'm out!
I only tried currant tea recently and immediately loved it, so of course I had to try Adagio's version. It's simple, light in taste but it has enough body to be substantial. Refreshing and great for a morning pick-me-up.
A very smooth, juicy, and very fruity tea! The flavor is only the slightest bit medicine-esque. the flavor is quite different. While I wouldn't call this tea invigorating, it is bright. it will perk your mood up in the best way possible. If you like fruit-flavored teas, give this one a try.
Just seems like a nice/normal black tea. Its a good tea to have any time, but not my favorite.
This is not my favorite but good as an iced tea with a bit of sugar.
Three and a half stars, I think. Although I love the flavor of currants, I find that I have a hard time drinking this if I don't blend it with another black tea. I've been using my go-to Assam Harmony, and I like the mixture, but the currant alone is just a bit too jammy and overwhelming.
Absolutely love this tea. Great dried fruit taste.
For me, this tea is really just too subtle if you just let it steep for the recommended three minutes, but I find that the longer I let it steep, the more pronounced the currant flavor becomes. Sugar does help a bit, and next time I brew a cup, I'm going to squeeze just a tiny bit of lemon in, just to brighten it up a little.
A solid tea, perhaps a bit too subtle in its flavor profile. 4/5.
This tea was tasty and a fairly good rendition of the flavour of a currant. The flavouring came through better when had with milk than most of Adagio's berry teas.
This was good, but not quite what I was expecting in terms of flavor, it had a softer feel than I anticipated as well. It's still very good, but I'm still undecided on whether I will order more.
Simple but satisfying. No particular depth to either the fruit or the tea flavor.
Mmmmm this is such a surprising tea. The aroma is light and has a nice berry note to it but the flavor really pops! The flavor is very juicy and jammy. The black tea is bright and blends very well with the currant. Delicious! :]
I had tried this tea a long time ago and loved it, then I found it on Adagio and was so excited. It's a wonderful tea!
I added a free sample of Currant to one of my orders, because I generally love currant-flavored things, whether it's jam or jelly or currants themselves. It took me awhile to get around to trying it, and I was so pleased not to be disappointed when I finally did! It has a rich, almost velvety sort of texture, and the color is outstanding. This is one of those teas that might need a sprinkle of the amber sugar crystals, but overall, is a winner.
'It smells like coke!' my mother proclaimed when I presented the sample bag to her as I waited for my water to heat up. And, in fact, she's a little right. The smell we're getting both from the leaves and the steeping is a little like Coca Cola, something I wouldn't expect from a tea. The taste does kind of remind me of something you'd expect from a soda, oddly enough, but it has a subtle raspberry taste to it of course! I quite enjoy the taste of this tea, and I almost wonder what I can blend it into.
Great flavor! I'm a bit obsessed with currants, and this was absolutely lovely.
I saw the word 'jammy' used a few times in reviews for this tea, and it made me curious. This tea IS jammy. Less fruit-flavored and more like jam. It's not an everyday tea for me, but I do enjoy it.
Not too fruity, delightfully inexpensive, a great addition to your everyday winter tea pantry. I love this tea with just a little sugar.
Wonderful dark fruity taste at the beginning, but it gets bitter toward the end. Better with food than alone.
Currant isn't really a flavour that's easy to pinpoint, and I'm not sure if this is *exactly* currant, but I really like it! It's fruity and smells wonderful in the cup. Not too sweet.
A freshly-fresh taste I never had before, but enjoy.
This tea did not have much flavor when I tried it the first time. I found that steeping it in a larger steeper helped some.
This makes a fantastic ice tea. With a little bit of sugar, it sings! It's my personal preference that I don't like really fruity teas, so I like to mix this with other blends. But if you love fruity teas, this is one for you.
The taste is a bit odd and wonky-adding a splash of milk helped a bit. I am not a fan of this tea though I love fruity teas. The flavor is not too strong.
Rounder and richer than I'd expected and less tart. nicely sweet.
If you like the pumpkin spice and cranberry holiday black teas, give this one a try. The flavor is sort of in between and otherwise difficult to describe.
Wasn't familiar with the flavor of currant going in, so I didn't really have anything to compare it to. It's a nice tasting cup of tea, though.
Smells a lot like grapes when you open the bag, but not too medicinal. Mellows out when brewed for a more tart, fruity cup of tea. It tastes much better when blended with other black teas.
Wasn't sure what to expect, but I love this tea! Very tasty!
