Currant Customer Reviews

A classic combination. Smooth, deeply fruity currant flavor (similar to raisin) with bright Ceylon tea.

This has become a fast favorite at my house. It's fruity, but not overly so. I will definitely be buying more of this tea in the future.

★★★★★

Fruit flavor is strong, but not too strong. Excellent dessert tea.

★★★★☆

Strong aroma while brewing but very nice subtle taste while drinking.

★★★★☆

This did not have a very distinct flavor. The flavor that came through was just slightly fruity.

The fragrant is okay I guess. I don't drink much of black tea so I don't know what the standards would be. Not a fan of this anyhow.

This is a nice black tea with some flavor of the currant, but the black tea overpowers the currant flavor a little. I've brewed this two separate times and the flavor is the same. You can rebrew leaves and the black tea flavor is a little lighter, but the currant flavor is still overpowered.

This tea is very good. The currant flavor is not overwhelming and adds a really great note to a black tea taste that we all know and love.

Delicious and jammy, this is exactly the tea I reach for when I want something different. As a huge fan of fruity teas, I've had quite a few, and this remains one of my favorite to break the monotony of cherry and tropical flavors.

This was a very nice flavorful tea. Jammy fruity tasting.

I loved currant-flavored tea the first time I tried it many years ago. Adagio's version is wonderful, with the nice addition of raspberry leaves which makes it taste extra curranty, since currant is reminiscent of raspberries. Add honey for a little sweetness, but it is fine unsweetened as well.

Not very tasty, the tea was a little bland and the currant flavor was nonexistent.

I love this tea. Brings me back to the time I stayed in Ireland for two weeks.

★★★★☆

Good flavor of currant but a little bit of bite if brewed too long

★★☆☆☆

Tastes like nothing. Compared to other current black teas this one is very pale.

★★★★★

One of my favorites. Always keep this one in my cabinet. Bold and fragrant.

★☆☆☆☆

I don't know if it was just me or if others have had this experience but the tea tasted too much like cough medicine.

nice and tart, just like the berries. Definitely re-buy!

★★★★☆

A little malty after 3 minutes, fruitier after that. Can't say if it tastes like currants because I've never had any. I do get hints of raisin and the raspberry flavor from the leaves. Jammy is a good word to describe it.

Tried the currant tea this morning. Really liked it. Nice tea for me to have breakfast with. Put just a touch of honey in it and it was wonderful. Would definitely not steep it more then the three minutes it calls for.

Pretty good tea for everyday drinking, but nothing special. I can't taste the currant flavor but definitely hint of raspberry from the raspberry leaves. I think this tea is better drinking cold than hot.

It has a nice smell but the flavor is only okay. Probably not again.

★★★☆☆

This wasn't my favorite tea, a little bitter for my taste.

Tastes very jammy, with sugar. Would likely go well as a base note in a blend.

★★★★☆

Fruity, but not too strong. Great for a little something sweet with out being to dessert like.

★★★☆☆

I'm really not a huge fan of this one. Adding some sweetener kinda made it artificial tasting like medicine.

★★★★☆

This was rather interesting. I'm not a big fan of currants and raisins, but this was gifted to me so I gave it a try. The currant taste is quite prominent, so if you actually like currants, I'd imagine that it would be a nice and unique tea for you. I wouldn't be running back for more, but it's not a bad tea to try at least once.

I expected to like this more. Flavorful, but not my favorite so far.

★★★★★

I love this tea! Traditional currant tea with a vintage vibe. Strong currant flavor, nice black tea.

this is an EXCELLENT iced tea. The perfect sweetness on the back end with just enough black tea flavor. Even my husband, whose iced tea of choice is peach tea with ample sugar, LOVES this iced and straight--no sweetener needed.

★★★★☆

I blended this tea with assam melody and cinnamon and liked the way it turned out. It's nicely tart and sweet by itself, but to me it is definitely better and more interesting in a mix.

Absolutely amazing as an iced tea. Subtle and crisp, perfect for a day of hiking or bike riding.

★★★☆☆

Didn't appeal to me, but them, I'm not a fan of fruity teas. Thanks for the sample, though!

★★★★☆

The taste is everything I hoped it would be, being a fan of all current-type dishes, and this one is by far a favorite!

★★★☆☆

This tea would probably be great mixed with others (maybe cream?), but by itself I find the taste kind of puckery.

Tastes okay, not exactly my cup of tea, one I have to be in the mood for...

★★★★★

This tea has a nice, full currant flavor. The taste of the tea underneath is present, but not overpowering.

This has the perfect balance of fruit and tea. You can taste both really well and (unless you've got a sweet tooth/like really rich tea) needs absolutely nothing added.

We are new to Adagio, got a mix of different teas, previously shopped at Teavana. This tea is OK, but I can't say it's anything special. The currant tea is very mild in taste, barely tasting of currant. It does smell nice though.

Initially, I wasn't impressed with this tea. I wasn't sure what a currant was, but ordered it in an attempt to experience new things. I should note that the first time I drank this I was two weeks post septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery, and my nose was quite plugged.

A week later, I am sitting here drinking this as I review. Something I didn't notice before is how wonderful the scent is, in a subtle way. It's not overbearing or powerful, even before steeping, such as the Berry Blues or Fruit Medley herbal teas. However, this smells somewhat like a flavour I would expect to find in a morning pastry, such as a scone. It is nearly like a blueberry, with a slightly darker taste and the sweetness is masked a bit more, such that it follows the end of the taste and scent, rather than being present at all times.

I would recommend this tea to someone who doesn't dislike black tea, as it is still quite present in its own taste. I would highly suggest that this tea is drank as a breakfast tea, but that's just my own personal opinion on its profile.

I gave this 4/5 because while the scent of the tea is fantastic, even after brewing, the flavour is a little bit too masked for my taste.

I slightly oversteeped it in cooler-than-ideal-water (I used a Keurig to make the water and it was maxed at 192), so I cannot describe its behaviour at proper conditions.

I got this for my dad, because he used to drink it long before I came along. He missed the flavor, so I sought it out Adagio, and he's quite pleased! Thanks!

★★★☆☆

It tasted slightly sweeter than just plain black tea, but it wasn't a strong enough flavor for me to really enjoy this on its own. Mixed with some vanilla oolong it was better, but mostly still tasted like plain tea. Not bad, but not my favorite.

To all of those who found this to be bitter or sour...COLD STEEP.

This was awesome. Seriously awesome. I can see how it might be a bit strong or go off as hot tea, given that the flavor is so strong for cold steeped. It is definitely a lot more flavorful than most of the other fruity ones. I actually got this leafy taste too. Perhaps though it is because I have never just eaten a currant so I have no idea how they taste really. I also don't tend to notice many 'notes' as many others seem to. Usually I can ID floral, sweet, mineral, green, etc. Nothing more specific. Here, I taste a bit of sour fruit but also leaves. But not bright green leaves, kind of like wet forest leaves. Apparently I like that.

This is a bit bitter, but is good with some extra sugar. A nice strong black tea.

This tea smelled really sharp and tart in the bag though it brewed up much milder. I liked it though it's not among my favorites.

★★★★★

This tea has an excellent subtle current flavor. A magnificient choice for summertime late evening relaxing.

★★★★☆

This tea is good, though not my favorite. I definitely taste the tangy Ceylon. The currant, however, is a bit subtle with just a hint of the jammy flavor coming through. Although, I be this make a nice refreshing iced tea, so we'll see.

I have always loved currant tea but this isn't my favorite of the lot. I think the base tea is the problem but I don't know. I'll try it again soon and update if it strikes me differently.

Certainly has a currant flavor, but I was 'eh' about the tea in general.

★★★★★

This is a perfect dessert tea. It has just a little touch of the currant aroma and flavor.

★★★☆☆

I bought this tea because my mom, being a native Dane, loves currants. However we were both disappointed at the lack of currant flavor. It was an ok tea though.
