★☆☆☆☆

The dry tea absolutely smells like chocolate. Not any chocolate that I would eat as a dark chocolate snob, but more like a mid-quality semi-dark chocolate with an acid sweetness to it (similar to raspberry chocolate's burn). I want bitter out of chocolate so I stuck with 3 minutes @ 212. Freshly brewed it carries the same scent, but muddled behind the black tea. As it cools, the acid sweetness comes out more.
When hot, it has a light but immediate chocolate taste to it. But the mouthfeel is way too thin and disappointing for a chocolate, so the bitter-forward taste of the black tea doesn't match it well at all. I added a small chunk of Mirzam 65% Vietnam Chocolate which fixed most of the problem (now it's thicker and more chocolate-y, so the bitterness makes sense; and of course it gained a lot of flavor from having real chocolate in it). Once the tea was warm the flavor from my added chocolate wasn't as strong, so at my friend's recommendation I added the tiniest tidbit of H&H (I would have done cream but we don't have any) to add some additional fat. But the cocoa flavor is really weak and was droned out right away, leaving an unbalanced bitterness yet again.
Once the tea had completely cooled, the cocoa came back with a vengence: now it tastes and smells very similar to hot cocoa packets you could get in bulk from a grocery store. It certainly has its place in the cabinet of those who like that kind of thing; but personally this tea just made me kind of angry? I didn't expect a high quality tea to be drug down to the depths of low quality chocolate.

This is one of my favorites, and I've purchased it before I received it in the Dec communitea box. Its a perfect blend of black tea and chocolate. I usually have a bit of oat milk it it, but no sugar. Sometimes I also add a small amount of peppermint tea in it!!

I don't really like chocolate teas very much. They always taste kind of fake. This one is one of the best ones I have tried, though. I did have to add 2 cubes of sugar and a dollop of half and half to make it good. Tasted as part of The CommuniTea.

Drank as part of the communiTea. A nice treat strong chocolate flavor.

A delightful dessert tea! It’s the perfect amount of chocolate — enjoyed with a little rock sugar.

Chocolate Truffle Tea is very good. A rather strong chocolate smell out of the bag. With a 3 min. steeping, a little sugar and some frothy milk, this tea was treat!

★★★★★

Thank you for creating such nice dessert tea. It was my first time to try shipping tea with chocolate chips in. It was really like popping a quality chocolate truffle into my mouth.

This is a beautiful chocolate tea! I sampled it previously in the chocolate tea sampler. It has a rich chocolate taste that stands up to hot chocolates I've had in the past. Lovely with cream and sugar.

Ordered this awhile ago but did not get a chance to try it so was happy to see it in our Communitea December packet. Chocolatey and right up my alley. I added a teaspoon of cream and sugar and turned this into a sweet dessert drink.

It smells very chocolate-y but the taste is less so. The chicory is a nice balance and the tea isn't too sweet.

★★★★★

I loved this tea! Everything seemed to be present in my Communitea packet. The sweetness of the chicory was balanced perfectly with the bitterness of the cocoa nibs.

Can taste the chocolate. Pleasant. I added almond milk to my cup.

I don't get a lot of chocolate flavor here. It's also a bit weak for my tastes, but the addition of sugar and milk made it good enough. Adagio has other chocolate teas available that are better, I think.

★★★★★

Really enjoyed this tea. Very nice chocolate flavor. I maybe could have done without the chicory but overall a very pleasant taste.

I typically don t like chocolate teas, as they taste too artificial on the chocolate end of things. This fixes that issue with the addition of cocoa nib and chocolate chips, which give this tea a strongly hot chocolate character to it, made stronger with the addition of cream and sugar. I m so delighted by this, and think that this would be especially delicious used as an element in tea blends for it s realistic chocolate taste. Cheers, I love this!

I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite, nice chocolate notes over a good black tea

★★★★☆

It smelled very chocolatey in the packet, which was probably due to the abundance of mini chocolate chips my portion received. It was a nice mellow cup of black tea with smooth, chocolatey notes in the background. The chocolate did not pop out strongly and was not the most authentic chocolate taste; however, it was pleasant and not overly fake. I did not add any sweetener or creamer, and appreciated that it was still tasty all on its own as something that can be sipped with more regularity than a 'treat' tea. While I'm usually not the biggest fan of chocolate teas, this one might end up in a future order. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 4 min @ 195F)

Dark chocolate. I will probably get a sample pack to mix into things. Probably really good with cream.

A wonderfully dark chocolate flavor, like the little fudge and chocolate shop I get some treats at before work sometimes. I love blending this with strawberry tea, or on its own with some rock sugar.

Chocolate tea always kind of weirds me out, it's never quite right and always tastes like an artificial hot chocolate. This was absolutely amazing. It was smooth and the chocolate taste was authentic.

This tea is amazing! It's one of the rare black teas that I feel needs no sweetening at all. Add a touch of real, heavy cream and you will be in heaven!

This tea was just what I needed after a stressful night of little sleep (after my coffee, of course!). Sweet, but not too sweet, and rich, but not overly so. The chocolate here is more of a feeling to me, rather than an overwhelming taste.

This tea packet was very nicely balanced, i saw some cornflower petals, some cocoa nibs and a single, tiny, perfect chocolate chip which made me smile! I brewed this cup at 212 degrees for the recommended 3 minutes. The cup is a lovely colour, with a bit of an oily film on the top (probably from the aforementioned chocolate chip). The taste is nice, a dark chocolate understated flavour that tastes real and not artificial at all. It is however, a little bit muted.. I added a splash of maple syrup and a tiny bit of cream, and now the flavour just pops! Somehow, these additions transform the tea into a creamy, chocolatey desert like drink. Very much like a rich hot chocolate. I think I will have to buy tis and do some experimentation to see what else I can coax out of this tea, and find other ways to combine it with other teas to enhance them...

Oh this is really lovely! Normally I'm not a huge fan of flavored black teas, but this one really stands out. This is exactly the kind of discovery--something I wouldn't normally try, but I end up loving--that I hoped for when I started getting CommuniTEA.

It was horribly dull when I took a sip neat. But it was completely transformed by a splash of french vanilla soy creamer. Now there's all kinds of chocolatey flavor, more than I would have guessed would come through. Definitely lighten and sweeten to get all this lovely tea has to offer!

I know the chocolate flavor Adagio uses can be a little divisive, but personally I LOVE it, and I think this blend in particular makes a lovely, rich cup. I rarely sweeten my tea, but even without added honey or sugar, this already has a touch of sweetness. Warning: the chicory and chocolate are very strong, but if you enjoy those flavors, this will knock your socks off.

I thought the chocolate was a nice subtle undertone. The main flavor is this dark, rich black tea that isn’t tannic at all (212 deg. 3 minutes) but somewhere in there is that light chocolate flavor. I have the chocolate chai and this tastes more like real nice chocolate than the chai. Definitely surprised with how much I liked it.

Richer and smoother chocolate flavor than the chocolate chip and chocolate teas. If you like chocolate, you'll love this tea!

Chocolate truffle tea will appeal to those who enjoy a dark chocolate. It is not sweet like milk chocolate, but it has a delicious cocoa flavor that's enriched by the addition of a bit of sweetener. Perfect tea for decorating that Christmas tree.

First sip, not my favorite. Adding some rock sugar and it's okay and really drinkable. Not an every day for me but maybe once in a while.

This had a very strong blast of chocolate when I opened the package, but the taste was barely there. It was hardly chocolate for me.

Another one I wanted for blends that just doesn t work for me. The black tea is so overpoweringly astringent that the chocolate flavor is just totally lost. The chocolate flavor is also really artificial. I don t want to blend with it, and I certainly don t want to drink it on its own.

While I enjoy chocolate flavored tea in a blend, I’m not a fan of straight chocolate tea. There’s a bit of a bitter aftertaste to this one and an almost artificial flavor. Once I added a bit of sweetened creamer I was able to enjoy my morning cup.

Rich, lush aroma of cocoa in the dry tea. Brews up to a lovely dark amber. The flavor after brewing is a bit disappointing and tastes like a very weak chocolate liqueur, not chocolate or cocoa. Perhaps adding cream and/or sugar would bring out the flavor, but I prefer my tea without either so this would be a pass for me.

Not many tea companies can get ‘chocolate tea’ right. As a dark chocolate fan, I am usually turned off by chocolate teas because they all taste like flavoring, they’re not authentic. However Adagio comes pretty darn close to what I want with this one. The ‘flavoring‘ taste is still there, but Adagio’s addition of actual cacao nibs and real chocolate chips help this brew obtain true chocolatiness a lot better than other places can.
212°F 3mins and it takes half & half really well for a more milk chocolatey experience if you wish.

Total treat in the morning once I’m kicking my work day into gear. Good caffeine punch and decadent chocolate-y overtones. Such a pretty blend too — a feast for the eyes as I’m preparing it.

My first and favorite Adagio tea. I’m on a VLC, low sugar diet and this has been my treat for the last 80 pounds lost. Serious chocolate flavor. No, it’s not a cup of hot cocoa, but it’s a sophisticated twist on the idea of hot cocoa. I’ve been adding a tiny splash of sugar-free peppermint syrup to this and it’s delicious. It tastes less like super-sweet, creamy, American chocolates and more like the darker, earthier, European chocolates.

I've always avoided chocolate teas because they never quite taste right for me. That is NOT the case with this gem. Its flavor is somewhere between a hot chocolate and a good herbal tea, decadent enough to feel like dessert, but grounded enough to remind me I'm still drinking tea. I absolutely adore this blend and will be buying it time and time again!

I love this tea! It has a hint of tootsie roll which is my favorite candy. I like to mix it with the peppermint stick tea for a chocolate mint moment of heaven.

★★★★☆

This is a tea that definitely shines more with honey and cream, but I expected that would be the case. Before adding honey and oatmilk, the chocolate flavor comes through as more on the bitter side. That being said, I always prefer teas like this with honey and some type of milk or cream, since it brings out that chocolaty and dessert like quality of such a tea. After I sweetened it and added some oatmilk, my go-to lately, this tea was deliciously rich and dessert-like.

Made one cup of this and probably will not be making anymore; it tasted more bitter than chocolate.

This tea tastes as advertised, but it's a little too much of a tootsie roll flavor for me.
